1. 5/5Best Smart Lock and Ecosystem Available Today

   Ive been using Ultraloq devices since their first kickstarter. Originally I wanted features that were only available in commercial systems, such as key fob, access, logging capabilities, and biometrics. I’ve been using the combination, lever lock with auto bolt for over five years on multiple properties, and could not be more pleased with its performance and quality. The ability to manage the system remotely and consistently from anywhere in the world has been the most stand out feature. While other locks make claim similar functionality, the combination of build quality, security, and features, is unrivaled in the industry. U-Tec continues to innovate and produce new products which fit within their ecosystem, and provide immense value to homeowners and property managers. These are by far the best locks, the best ecosystem, and the best product development I’ve seen in the last decade in this space. Just a simple homeowner overjoyed with what started as a humble kickstarter and how secures my world.

2. 4/5Annoying problem, easy to fix.

   I have had the u-tech wifi lock for over a month now. I would love to have given it a 5 star review, but there is a flaw in the lock. In order to lock the door, you only have to hit the lock button once. This has been done accidentally while holding the door open for people multiple times which becomes annoying after a while. I would like to see the lock updated via firmware and or app. So you have to double tap the lock button for the door to lock. Or create an update in the app to set a timeframe that the door cannot be locked during.( I.e. from 12pm-9pm Monday - Friday ) or an Auto Unlock feature (opposite of the auto lock feature. This especially becomes annoying if your using the lock on a commercial business. Customers accidentally lock the door as they are holding it and there is no way to tell the door is locked unless you constantly check. Looking forward to this update sometime in the future. This is the only thing preventing me from purchasing more of these locks as they work exceptionally well for businesses. Especially with multiple employees. It prevents you from having to buy multiple keys and change locks all the time. And allows you to set times for the employees to access your business and times they can’t.

   App has gotten better and now my only complaint might be that it could use some enhanced locking features. In particular the “auto lock” needs a much longer timeout setting, but what I would really like to see is the ability to set a time whereby it is always locked, or at least a warning e.g. “it’s your bedtime 10:00PM and the door is unlocked.” Better to be able to set a time and have it done automatically, then notify if locking fails. My other complaint is not with the app—instead this (and every) automaticatic lock requires an extraordinary amount of precision in its installation lest it stick and fail/jam. There needs to be some greater tolerance between deadbolt and latch so that temperature and humidity variances that can cause slight misalignments are accounted for. A slightly smaller diameter deadbolt? A larger opening to the latch? Something…

   March 2024 Update. Now you use notifications to alert me to sale prices of things I have no interest in? This is getting ridiculous. Just give me a simple app for locks! Instead of fixing the easy things below you redesigned the app to have 50% of the screen be clutter I will never use. So annoying! Interface is even uglier than before and I lost connectivity to a lock that was an hour away as had to drive there to fix it. Still can’t provide an option for more than 5 minutes before it auto locks? You know your best income stream could be from property managers and rental property owners, right? So why not let us have the lock become active at check in time instead of having it active all day? I already had a guest unlock the door way before check in and he scared the daylights out of our cleaner. I’m glad I can still have all three locks on one page but it’s such an ugly view. It says “Default Address” on the top. I wish I could edit that or make it go away. Even though all three locks are at different properties I want them on the main page. My ratings: Hardware - 9/10 Marketing - 10/10 App - 1/10

5. 3/5Good when it works, bad when it doesn’t

   A little over a year ago I purchased the ultraloc combo. Had a few issues but were resolved fairly quickly. Recently I’ve had issues with the handle not unlocking from outside. Fingerprint would read, or app would show unlocked but lock on handle never engaged. So after about 4 weeks messaging back and forth I was informed I was out of warranty but they would send me a different replacement lock (worth 1/2) of original). When I originally made a case to report issue it was only out of warranty by a few days. The warranty is only good for 1 year. They quit making the combo - now I know why. So I reluctantly agreed and since I was unable to use the front door as an entrance for a month, I purchased another smart deadbolt and a new handle. Over all I loved the dual locking of combo deadbolt and handle. The customer service is why this rating is only median. When I replaced the lock I took it apart and found the issue to be a $2 motor. Should be an easy fix but I guess it’s not worth it to them.
