4/5“Good but not Excellent”
I’ve had the app and lock now for 4-1/2 years and it’s been pretty good. I like that you can setup access codes for different people, lock and unlock the doors with the Apple Home Kit integration, and I like the auto lock feature. What would make this app 5 stars could be a feature that could turn your auto lock feature back on when it was shut off. This could be accomplished by a prompt when it’s shut off asking “would you like to resume your auto lock setting after 1 minute………..2 hours……….or tomorrow?” The auto lock feature could also be manually programmed to resume at any time frame. The only other feature that would be needed is a low battery notification that would notify the user when the battery percentage falls below 20% and would continually notify you through notifications until the batteries were replaced. These Extra features would put this app over the top and I would easily give it five stars!!

5/5It works so well!
I own an airbnb and and decided I needed a smart lock. I started with Kwikset as it saved us some money over the Schlage. It worked when it worked. I called tech support a bunch of times as it was alway dropping the wifi connection. They always said it was our wifi. I replaced the whole wifi router and added extenders in an 1100 sq foot house. It still failed and Kwikset never took responsibility. So I bought the Schlage. I have had it about a year and a half now. It just works!! Always!! I have another product that sends messages customers and also sends new lock codes to the Schlage lock that is unique for each customer. A couple of times I thought that software or the Schlage had failed. It turned out it was all me. The codes sent let guest check in on a certain day at a certain time. If I tell the guest they can check in early I have to remember to adjust the check in time. So the failure was me! I would say it’s the most reliable “smart” equipment I have ever owned and has relieved a lot of stress. In the end much less expense than the Kwikset.

5/5Schlage lock
We got the lock for our rental property and were so glad to see you only need a ruler and a Phillips head screw driver to install it! It seemed to need a larger hole in the door for installation so perplexed since it’s a metal door- we called a locksmith who knew to tell us that there’s a component you remove so the lock fits any door hole even an older metal one. Now I will know when ever people are entering our property. It’s like a built in guard dog that only needs fresh batteries for food. I loved how it tells me remotely that the thumb lock was locked by the keypad or not... the moment it’s unlocked I am notified. Very nice features! 100 different codes are programmable, so you can assign the codes to specific guests to start and end date - what hour it will and will not work for them to enter. The day and hour to work and when to end. I assign 4 numbers pertinent to my guests, they effortlessly remember, never the same 4 numbers so they’re stored -so I know specifically who is entering without a camera needed by their codes only assigned to them. Schlage Encode is a smart and convenient, easy to install, easy to use WIFI locking system that has provided me now years of locking my property securely from far away and such a great piece of mind!

4/5App changed
It used to be able to glance at the app and easily/quickly see the status of my one lock, which was color coded (red/black). They recently updated the app and now the indicator is very small and not color coded. As a former software systems engineer, I rarely find app updates the make an app’s user interface worse. Perhaps they are thinking of customers with numerous locks, but I’d bet that’s not the norm. I used to live this app - now… not so much. UPDATE: Schlage updated the app and it addressed most (not all) the problems I mentioned above. However, they added a “Home” page (for people with more than one, I presume) and by default added slots for “Front Door,” “Side Door,” and “Back Door.” You CAN’T remove ones you don’t use. I only have ONE Schlage smart lock and it is on my BACK door. When the app updated it automagically decided my lock should be the FRONT door. There doesn’t seem to be a way to define/change that short of adding it again as BACK door, which would screw up some other things I have configured. Geez, Schlage… give me a break.

1/5Revert Back UX Please!
The latest change that was rolled out changed the entire user experience. Please add back in the old view. The older UX was much easier and quicker to use. By far! I used to be able to open the app and with one click I could see the history of the first lock, and easily get to other locks and their history. Now it’s all in one view, which as nice as it is, it is incredibly inefficient. I now have to look very closely and make sure I click in a very tiny part of the screen to pull up a pop up menu (the three dots are so tiny, I often have to click multiple times to actually get the menu to pop up) and then very closely look to find the history of that lock and click in a tiny area of the screen. The battery view is also extremely tiny and no longer displays the percentage left - I have to click to view it and it is in a very tiny font compared to before. Also, the different views (ie History) have a much longer buffering time than it used to. Also, “Managing” the lock is right next to “Delete” to lock, which is scary. Deleting the lock used to be in an area away from all other menus, as it should be for security. Please fix to be user friendly! You guys could have added a “global” view without making a mess of things like this update did.
