5/5Wish I had this years ago!
Texan in Alaska here. It’s difficult to smoke when the ambient air temp is below 0°F. Having to bundle up into a million layers to tend the fire is a chore in itself. This little handy dandy tool cut my smoke times down because of the ability to nail the temps in any weather. Connectivity, was great! It’s 80 ft from the grill to the window. Even in snow and fog there were no issues. The app and alarms work perfect. Thank you! These are going to be stocking stuffers for all of the folks who think that pellet grills are smoking. If you didn’t grow the cow, fell the tree, split the wood, and burn some kind of funky sawdust and glue substance instead of the real thing, you are not really making smoked brisket. Food is love, even when you have to dig 3 feet down into snow to find the lid of your smoker.

5/5Takes the Guesswork Out of Cooking
This thermometer completely takes the guesswork out of cooking. Insert the probe, set your target temp, and let it do the rest. I can track the temperature right on my iPhone app, and it alerts me when there are 5 minutes left, when the food is ready to come off the grill, and even after resting when it’s ready to eat. I no longer over- or under-cook steaks, and it also works great in a crockpot. I nailed the perfect 203°F for pulled pork BBQ. Simple, accurate, and a game-changer. Highly recommend.

3/5Great hardware flawed software
I have done five long smokes with the ThermoMaven setup. So far none of them are saved properly in my history. Alarm goes off when done telling you to start resting and you press the wrong button (or even the right button) and everything is gone. You have suddenly started a new cook. Your 14 hour history of the cook temperatures are simply gone. Hardware wise, it is great. Long battery life gets you through brisket smokes with ease. Multiple temperature sensors give you confidence. Yes live activities time out on long cooks but that is an Apple limitation and not the fault of the app. If the issues with saving of history is fixed this setup would be perfect. But I can't trust it to save the data so I have to take screenshots often or worry about losing my temp graphs permanently.

5/5Cooking with Heat
I have used several different types of meat thermometers over the years. This is the best one I’ve ever used for several reasons. First of all, it has a separate stand that not only holds the thermometers, but also is able to read the temperature. Too many of them depend on you to use your phone and some of them as soon as you get more than 50 feet away from your grill they quit working. Second of all, it is very accurate as I tested it against several other thermometers. Accuracy matters when you’re cooking meat as you can’t afford to make mistakes. Very thankful that I found this one! I am looking forward to using it in the days and weeks ahead!

3/5Losses Connection
Love the features and user friendly platform. Temperatures seem to be accurate so far. Only disappointment this far is the connection. I get constant alerts for device being disconnected. When opening the app following the notification, it reconnects after a few seconds. It doesn’t matter how close the base is to the WiFi or grill. This also happens when monitoring remotely over cellular service. Could the disconnection be a sleep mode flaw? Is the connection really being lost 83 times in a 6 hour cook? Not sure. This was the first time I used the unit.
