1/5Worst banking app I have
I don’t know why I just haven’t closed my account with PNC. I’ve been with them almost 2 years due to a job I had that offered a type of promo if I were to sign up for an account & get direct deposit. They have crazy overdraft fees, I recently didn’t move money around fast enough & was not even over a dollar, literally was some change, & still got the fee. Which that is more on the bank & not the app. So things I don’t like about the app, as I said, I have several accounts with different banks & credit unions. PNC every single night does “maintenance” on their app, for hours, & in that time you cannot do anything with your account. Example, lock & unlock your card. Which has been a huge inconvenience for me several times. I’ve managed to get ahold of someone in the after hours via telephone & they couldn’t help me which seemed bizarre. Back to the app issues, they also don’t have any way to display your card details. Anytime I can’t use Apple Pay & need to use my card, that’s a huge inconvenience to most of the time to retrieve my card. I don’t understand why they don’t just display your card details on the app. No where else does that. Last thing, several times logging in, even after changing my password more than once, I’ve logged in & I was met with a notification that my information appeared in a data leak. how many times is that going to happen ?

1/5Pin nightmares
PNC requires at least 3 different pins/passwords. If you have business and checking you’ll have at least 4-6 PIN numbers. If you try to pay someone new using Zelle it will give you one chance to enter a pin and then lock you out. If you call the number on the lockout screen it’ll route you to personal checking even if you’re logged into your business account. Even if you call the business banking number directly it’ll route you to personal checking so you’re going to validate with 4 digit texted codes etc at least twice before you’ll talk to anyone. They can unlock your acct and give you a temporary pin but you have two tax I’d numbers, your EIN and your ALK. No one knows wh I one to use. They just guess. Then voice banking will ask what pin you want to change, voice banking, atm, online banking. Bc they have at least 3 pins per account. To make it more fun it’ll lock your account again ig you answer anything wrong or get the wrong EIN/alk number. Even if you do all that right, whicj you won’t. (Hint it’s your alk number and your voice banking pin) it’ll lock you out bc your temporary pin expires after 15 minutes. I spent 45 minutes trying to pay a landscaper. Less pins. Get the social security/EIN thing straitened out, don’t require a zelle pin for people already logged into the app, and for gods sake change the phone number to the business checking department if people are logged into their business checking when locked out. Multiple verifications are so boring. Also change that god awful hold music, it’s triggering, slow, dentist office Muzak.

5/5Trouble with Zelle
When I called PNC due to a Zelle issue, the customer service person asked for my security information which I was happy to provide. After passing all the questions, he continued by asking me for my last four account debits which I gave him. But then, he started lecturing me about why I should be careful with Zelle and asked if I trust the person I was sending money to via Zelle to which I answered yes, I’ve known this person for a long time. He suggested I shouldn’t use Zelle to pay for services. He also lectured me on my account login security and how I shouldn’t share my login information with my wife to which I responded that was none of his concern. At this point, I asked him to stop lecturing me like I’m some stupid, first time Zelle user. He continued to lecture me explaining that sending money with Zelle is exactly like sending cash. I said I fully understand that. We have multiple personal and business accounts with PNC that have never been compromised because we’re intelligent and aware. I told him this and he continued to lecture me. This is by far the absolute worst, most demeaning customer service conversation I’ve ever had with any financial institution and I was not happy when I finally hung up on him. This was totally unacceptable behavior. I’m your customer. Be nice!

1/5I miss BBVA
PNC purchased BBVA and I have been unhappy ever since. The first experience as they rolled in was letters telling me what I needed to do(NO!) next they took away my LIFE TIME FREE CHECKS next they changed my account numbers I have had since I 13 years old and my checks started at #100. My interest rate dropped significantly in my savings account that was earning a decent amount per month to just pocket change per month with no notification and a guy from my local branch called me about a new product they have which would earn him a commission so I told him about the interest rate drop and it was clear he was only interested in his agenda and not about customer service nothings changed with my interest rate he just blew me off. Next they require me to update my app to 18.0 to continue using online banking and my older I Phone 7 that is still going strong will not get this update so should I get a new phone or a new bank? Now and I think this is going to be the final straw I've had enough, when I get notices from bill pay it doesn't tell me who it paid anymore just an amount so I have to log in to see but now I can't. That doesn't help me nothing this Bank has ever done has helped me. my bank has changed hands two times before this time and I didn't have to do anything and I did not lose anything. Thank you William Demchak (CEO)for your fine oversight.

4/5Took a step back with last update.
I could give 5 stars for convenience and general reliability. But the last update, while making the app more snazzy, also made it less convenient. Cool new graphics and slick transitions were added. Looks cool guys. But takes longer to load each page. I don’t need to be entertained by my banking app - just need to make an online deposit or pay a bill. Here’s an example of inconvenient: making a mobile deposit. Lots of sliding around of graphics with every selection I make. I finally get the deposit made and then there’s the confirmation screen. The top 1/3 of the screen contains a blue bar with a giant “+” sign in it. Below that is the deposit information. Where’s the confirm button? Took me a while to figure out I have to scroll down to see it. Maybe a little smaller graphic on top would allow me to see the whole thing on one screen. And maybe instead of all the flashy graphics after every selection (deposit, account, amount...) all that could be on one screen and then the flashy stuff could come after, and just once. Bill pay is much the same. Looks cool but is a waste of time. Functionally, convenience-wise, reliability-wise — I love having the app and it serves me well. I could just do without all the fru-fru.
