3/5Can’t unlink through greendot
I recently closed a personal bank account due to little usage of it. I forgot I had it linked to greendot. Greendot charges a few dollars as a monthly fee, which I’m okay with. But now I’m at a negative balance. Unfortunately, I can’t unlink the personal bank account I have on greendot, as for some reason only through my personal bank I can do that. I reached out to both party support groups and both are unable to support me because my personal bank account no longer exists. An advisor from my personal bank says they can’t recover a closed account, understandably. I also barely use Greendot, so I planned on closing it. But I can’t due to my negative balance. Despite my efforts trying to add funds, link another/different bank account, getting advice from both support parties, I am now stuck and suffering a monthly fee until Greendot features a way to link multiple personal bank accounts. I think my only best solution would be to add a direct deposit method. Greendot is a great 3rd party app, don’t get me wrong. And as much as it is my fault for not unlinking the bank first, a simple solution would be to have the ability to unlink a bank from the “accounts” section, rather than from my personal bank. Or, another solution would be to allow me to add multiple banks. I just attempted to link greendot to my Venmo, hoping that it transfers successfully in a few days. I hope it all goes well when it processes in a few days. Hopefully there will be a feature in the future for Greendot to link multiple banks through the app. Again, Greendot is a great app and has great features. But it lacks certain basic features like linking multiple bank accounts at the moment.

Closed my account and moved to chime banking. What a horrible bank. Constant issues with the app. They have absolutely no customer service. By that I mean they have people you can call or chat with but none of them are capable or able to help. They give you a case number and then never follow up. Myself and two others where all locked out of transferring money into our accounts we had bills due and they could not resolve the issue. Placing blame on others, giving us the run around. Bye bye green dot! Excited to use chime banking with no monthly fees, no fees to check your balance. No fees to just use your card. An app that actually works and real people that can help you. Btw green dot. You can refrain from replying to this review with the horrible copy paste response you give on every bad review telling the truth. It will just make you look even worse. Replying to green dots response. Assist me with what? None of you assisted with anything. I contacted support every day for weeks. Went in circles. You want me to think that now all the sudden you can help? To late, My accounts closed. Anyone else dealing with the “failure to verify your identity” when trying to deposit funds into your green dots account. Do not contact support. There is no support it’s just people hired to stall you from leaving while they do nothing. Close your account immediately and get a new bank asap to get ahead of the process.

I tried this out for a couple of weeks and it wasn’t bad. It does what it’s suppose to do. You do get 5% cash back on qualified purchases but unless you run your card a lot, I don’t think it’s worth it considering the $9.95 monthly membership fee. I knocked it down 2 stars because support is awful! I had questions on getting set up for mobile check deposit and they were very vague and could never give me a direct answer. They kept repeating the same thing each time I reached out via email and told me to refer to their FAQ because apparently that is where I can find all my answers. I scoured through their FAQs from the beginning and nothing in there would help answer my questions. When I asked them to direct me to where I can find that information they said they actually don’t have instructions on how to get set up with direct deposit. It turns out it just takes some time before you are given access (I discovered this on my own). If they would have answered my initial question of “does this take some time to go though or should I be given immediate access?” It would’ve saved a ton of back and forth! I decided to just stick with my current bank at this point and am closing my green dot account. I could see it work for budgeting if you can stomach the monthly fee.

Wow I have never written a review for a app before but I had to in hope this helps someone who made the mistake of buying this card I put $500 on a prepaid card biggest mistake of my life I called and had it activated to learn I cannot use it online at all in any circumstance only in store so i am a very patient person and understanding so I call there custom service which is only an automated robot so I had to do an hour of research to find a link to the actual human form of contact and I can not make this up I was on the phone on hold for over 2 hours 2 HOURS of my day waiting to someone say please stay on the line to finally get help while I was completely respectful and told the woman my situation and she said there was nothing she could do about it so when I kindly asked to speak to a supervisor or manager which I also never do but since there was “nothing that could be done” over my half a thousand dollars that’s what I needed to do and I was told “please give me your number and my supervisor or manager will call you” I even asked if I will actually get a call back and she said yes later tonight well as you can guess from this being typed I never got that call and I have never had such an awful experience with any company or service I am a Christian but GreenDots CEOS I hope you rot in hell and once again I stress DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME there is a monthly fee trust me there are many other options open a bank account get a real Debit card and once again I truly hope this helps someone

I wish there was a way to give no stars. This is a bs app and bank. They say you can get paid up to 2 days early but it is not one day before my pay day and I still don’t have my money. Then they give this bs generic response about how it depends on when the job sends it. Well I’ve been at this job for three years and had two other banks. One was two days early and the other was one day early and both paid when they said they would which means that my job definitely sends it early enough. Three years and the only time I don’t get paid early is when I go to this bank. I call bs. Then it has a message saying that it has 24/7 help but then I try to get help and they aren’t available. Then when I finally get to them, no one knows anything but the generic answer. I’ve worked in customer service and they have no personality, knowledge, and empathy. The app says something about getting paid 4 days before benefits day with government checks (I’m a vet). I asked the rep and they had no idea what I was talking about but ITS YOUR JOB TO KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. Seriously? I had three jobs that I set up direct deposit for with this bank. I haven’t even gotten one check and I have already changed to Chime. I’m not gonna play these games cuz you don’t play with my money. It’s unbelievable. They do nothing to help you and know nothing but have the nerve to want to charge $10 for doing nothing....which is more than some banks that actually make an effort to help and don’t lie. I will be reporting this scam factory.

          "body": "I recently closed a personal bank account due to little usage of it. I forgot I had it linked to greendot. Greendot charges a few dollars as a monthly fee, which I’m okay with. But now I’m at a negative balance. Unfortunately, I can’t unlink the personal bank account I have on greendot, as for some reason only through my personal bank I can do that. I reached out to both party support groups and both are unable to support me because my personal bank account no longer exists. An advisor from my personal bank says they can’t recover a closed account, understandably. I also barely use Greendot, so I planned on closing it. But I can’t due to my negative balance. Despite my efforts trying to add funds, link another/different bank account, getting advice from both support parties, I am now stuck and suffering a monthly fee until Greendot features a way to link multiple personal bank accounts. I think my only best solution would be to add a direct deposit method. Greendot is a great 3rd party app, don’t get me wrong. And as much as it is my fault for not unlinking the bank first, a simple solution would be to have the ability to unlink a bank from the “accounts” section, rather than from my personal bank. Or, another solution would be to allow me to add multiple banks. I just attempted to link greendot to my Venmo, hoping that it transfers successfully in a few days. I hope it all goes well when it processes in a few days. Hopefully there will be a feature in the future for Greendot to link multiple banks through the app. Again, Greendot is a great app and has great features. But it lacks certain basic features like linking multiple bank accounts at the moment.",

By that I mean they have people you can call or chat with but none of them are capable or able to help. They give you a case number and then never follow up. Myself and two others where all locked out of transferring money into our accounts we had bills due and they could not resolve the issue. Placing blame on others, giving us the run around. Bye bye green dot! Excited to use chime banking with no monthly fees, no fees to check your balance. No fees to just use your card. An app that actually works and real people that can help you. Btw green dot. You can refrain from replying to this review with the horrible copy paste response you give on every bad review telling the truth. It will just make you look even worse. Replying to green dots response. Assist me with what? None of you assisted with anything. I contacted support every day for weeks. Went in circles. You want me to think that now all the sudden you can help? To late, My accounts closed. Anyone else dealing with the “failure to verify your identity” when trying to deposit funds into your green dots account. Do not contact support. There is no support it’s just people hired to stall you from leaving while they do nothing. Close your account immediately and get a new bank asap to get ahead of the process.",

          "body": "I tried this out for a couple of weeks and it wasn’t bad. It does what it’s suppose to do. You do get 5% cash back on qualified purchases but unless you run your card a lot, I don’t think it’s worth it considering the $9.95 monthly membership fee. I knocked it down 2 stars because support is awful! I had questions on getting set up for mobile check deposit and they were very vague and could never give me a direct answer. They kept repeating the same thing each time I reached out via email and told me to refer to their FAQ because apparently that is where I can find all my answers. I scoured through their FAQs from the beginning and nothing in there would help answer my questions. When I asked them to direct me to where I can find that information they said they actually don’t have instructions on how to get set up with direct deposit. It turns out it just takes some time before you are given access (I discovered this on my own). If they would have answered my initial question of “does this take some time to go though or should I be given immediate access?” It would’ve saved a ton of back and forth! I decided to just stick with my current bank at this point and am closing my green dot account. I could see it work for budgeting if you can stomach the monthly fee.",

          "body": "Wow I have never written a review for a app before but I had to in hope this helps someone who made the mistake of buying this card I put $500 on a prepaid card biggest mistake of my life I called and had it activated to learn I cannot use it online at all in any circumstance only in store so i am a very patient person and understanding so I call there custom service which is only an automated robot so I had to do an hour of research to find a link to the actual human form of contact and I can not make this up I was on the phone on hold for over 2 hours 2 HOURS of my day waiting to someone say please stay on the line to finally get help while I was completely respectful and told the woman my situation and she said there was nothing she could do about it so when I kindly asked to speak to a supervisor or manager which I also never do but since there was “nothing that could be done” over my half a thousand dollars that’s what I needed to do and I was told “please give me your number and my supervisor or manager will call you” I even asked if I will actually get a call back and she said yes later tonight well as you can guess from this being typed I never got that call and I have never had such an awful experience with any company or service I am a Christian but GreenDots CEOS I hope you rot in hell and once again I stress DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME there is a monthly fee trust me there are many other options open a bank account get a real Debit card and once again I truly hope this helps someone",

They say you can get paid up to 2 days early but it is not one day before my pay day and I still don’t have my money. Then they give this bs generic response about how it depends on when the job sends it. Well I’ve been at this job for three years and had two other banks. One was two days early and the other was one day early and both paid when they said they would which means that my job definitely sends it early enough. Three years and the only time I don’t get paid early is when I go to this bank. I call bs. Then it has a message saying that it has 24/7 help but then I try to get help and they aren’t available. Then when I finally get to them, no one knows anything but the generic answer. I’ve worked in customer service and they have no personality, knowledge, and empathy. The app says something about getting paid 4 days before benefits day with government checks (I’m a vet). I asked the rep and they had no idea what I was talking about but ITS YOUR JOB TO KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. Seriously? I had three jobs that I set up direct deposit for with this bank. I haven’t even gotten one check and I have already changed to Chime. I’m not gonna play these games cuz you don’t play with my money. It’s unbelievable. They do nothing to help you and know nothing but have the nerve to want to charge $10 for doing nothing....which is more than some banks that actually make an effort to help and don’t lie. I will be reporting this scam factory.",
