4/5Pretty great 1st experience!
A group of 3 friends and I all rented the electric scooters in San Diego. We were able to easily find the closest scooter and then move on to the next nearest ones. The scooters work pretty well with a good charge, carrying us along around 10-12 MPH on flat surfaces and up to 18mph or so on a downhill. They don’t handle grass well, slowing to around 4mph or so and the motor seems to really struggle, so hop off if you need to cross grass to save your battery. I had a problem where the bike seemed like it had a good charge to start out, but the app just tells you the estimated remaining range. Once you get on the bike, it shows a number of bars, but it’s unclear what the max capacity is. I started with ~14 miles of range and 2 bars of battery. Within a few miles (3?) I was down to 1 bar and the app saying that the battery was critically low with 6 miles of range remaining. The scooter wouldn’t go above 8mpg and flashed one bar on the display. As you can’t search for another scooter while you’re on a ride, I had to end the ride, find the next closes scooter, and hen pay again to ride the scooter to nearest replacement. Overall, they are great fun and I’m glad that so many are available downtown. I would appreciate future features of 1. Showing the charge remaining in the app before you get on the bike in addition to the range 2. Be able to quickly locate the nearest bike/scooter/ebike and then navigate to it 3. Be able to do #2 while on a current ride when you need to replace your ride due to low battery.

2/5Misleading Coupons / Terrible Customer Service
Limebike offers both you (the person sharing the app) and the people you share the app with, $3 worth of coupons each when a person you share with uses Limebike for the first time. They do not tell you that your respective $3 worth of coupons cannot be used at the same time, meaning you can only use one $1 coupon per person on a given ride. - My girlfriend, who did not enter in any credit card information, was able to get the entirety of her ride for free while I was charged for the same bike ride as her. Upon contacting their customer service texting number, I was met with a message saying that Limebike would get back to me shortly. Almost 29 hours later I received a follow up message saying I was accurately billed. After I asked for details, another text came almost 2.5 hours later explaining that coupons cannot be combined and that more details were available in my ride summary. The ride summary lists distance, time and ride cost, but not much else. I brought this to their attention and received another message 21 hours later after attempting to contact Limebike multiple times. Their response began with “how can I help you today?” to which I referred them to our past, unfinished conversation. They essentially repeated their prior statement about coupons along with needless trip details about my ride, and have yet to contact me again after almost 32 hours (so far) and numerous attempts to contact them. Yeah I’m fighting to get my $3 back.

1/5Great idea. Poor execution. Horrible customer service.
The Lime Electric scooters and bikes are a great idea and fun to ride. And there are elements of this app and service that are truly great: it’s easy to download and get started with a ride and it’s the only company I found that provides the group ride option. However, the app is very very glitchy. It freezes a lot. More than the two other similar companies and is simply less functional and user friendly. It also runs and tracks your location no matter what you do running through battery life very fast. They are also the only company I used without a phone charging device on the scooters. This is a bigger problem that it seems because the app running is mandatory for you to complete your ride. Without that you will be charged 25 euro (more in dollars) for not parking correctly. When the app isn’t running because your phone dies the scooters freeze up making it difficult to move them. Even if you do then get them to an appropriate spot and ensure the ride “ends” you will be fined. This is not made clear in the information. Nor is it possible to just end a ride when you see that your phone is about to die because rides must only be ended in certain zones or areas. Their customer service team seems especially designed to just repeat back their written policies not fix problems or provide solutions. Having tried three very similar companies Lime stands out as having the most potential and failing to meet it. Go with another company if you can.

2/5Very Inconsistent
Look it’s not a bad option if you live in an area where it works out better to take a scooter than it is to take a car. I live in Los Angeles where you can take a scooter almost anywhere.. almost. I have issues with the app randomly changing up my preferred payment method to Apple Pay instead of my card and then telling me that Apple Pay didn’t work. So now here I am wasting time trying to change up my payment method. Also the app randomly decided to log me off. I had a day where it logged me off more than 4 times all during very important times. Times I’ve scanned a scooter, get charged, and have to scan again + deposit again because apparently it didn’t read the previous scan even though they took a deposit for it? Imagine someone with very little in their bank accounts trying to go through this? Yikes.. All in all, this service is very inconsistent and full of bugs, even after all this time of being in operation. I wouldn’t call their services terrible however this company needs to iron out the kinks and only then will I change my rating. Until then, it’s sits at 2 stars because I can at least find some use for it from time to time. E scooters are a great idea, let’s just make them better and easier to use. FIX THE BUGS

1/5AVOID LIME MOPED!!!
I have no idea how Lime got 4.9 stars on App Store given so many negative reviews and my personal horrible experience!! 1. You are required to do 4 trainings before the first moped ride which is fine for me, BUT chapter 3 of the lesson could not even load properly!! We spent 30mins in front of the moped trying to complete the trainings and both mine and my husband’s phone was stucked at chapter 3. My phone had good internet access so it’s not the network issue. What a waste of time!! Please hire some reliable engineers!! 2. When we tried again couple hours later, we finally completed the training and was able to ride on the moped. For a 3 mile 35 min ride we were charged almost $20, which is even a bit more than Uber. Why would I ride a moped for most money and time?? Maybe just for the one time experience but certainly not us a frequent option. 3. Finally and the worst part of the experience and parking and ending the trip. Be aware, you could only park in some designated and limited spaces. The closest spot we count was 0.3miles away from our hotel in a parking a lot. I had to walk back to the hotel. AND!! After we parked at the parking space and on our way walking back to the hotel, the parking lot supervisor chased after us telling us to move the moped out of the garage!! So we had to go back again and drag the moped out of the garage. Overall extremely terrible experience and delete the app right away! Garbage!
