5/5An Elevated Experience
I can’t say enough good things about the Home Connect app! My mornings have been completely transformed— today, I made a perfect cup of coffee from bed using my Bosch 800 countertop espresso machine. The app lets me fine-tune every detail, right down to my aroma preference (I’m a fan of “balanced”), and offers a bunch of different coffee drinks plus different settings for tea. And it was super easy to connect with all my other appliances. One of my favorite features is being able to turn on my vent hood light from my car—super handy when I get home late and forgot to leave the porch light on. And sending recipes straight to my wall ovens to set the ideal cooking mode and time? It’s like having a sous chef in the house! Home Connect has made my kitchen smarter, my routines easier, and my coffee perfect. Highly recommended for anyone who loves convenience, customization, and a little bit of tech magic in their daily life!

3/5Eventually seems to work
I’d love to know what kind of designers worked on the dishwasher and app experience because it’s so confusing. It’s like it was a made by a marketer who never used an app before. It took me about 2 hours to connect my dishwasher to the WiFi. Once it was finally connected I thought everything was going to be good until I discovered there’s no delay start button. I was devastated. Then I found that the app claims I can automate the dishwasher to run every night. Perfect! Only no. That’s not quite how it works. It’s really just a very complicated delay start feature. You still have to manually go to the app to trigger the thing every day. And don’t touch the dishwasher or the app in any way between triggering the “automation” and it actually running or it won’t run. This thing is so touchy. I’ve had it a week now and I think it successfully ran over night 2-3 of the days so far. I saw on Reddit a Bosch representative said we can’t have delay start because the only time ppl use it is because the dishwasher is too loud or it doesn’t dry in time and Bosch solved those problems. Well no! I really don’t care how loud it is or how long it takes to dry. I just want to not forget to run it overnight. I wish dishwasher manufacturers would stop focusing on all these useless priorities and start focusing on making the apps really great. Make it 80 decibels for all I care but make it so it runs every night at 11pm and I never have to think about it! i don’t want to have to think this much about my dishwasher.

1/5Frustrating and not intuitive for unskilled smart phone users
If you aren’t familiar how smartphone apps work by interfacing with smart devices, STOP! Use your linkable device (Bosch Dishwasher in my case) manually and save yourself the agony trying to pair your phone with your device. I was able to eventually link the dishwasher with my iPhone but right before the process completed the screen notification alerted me that the dishwasher lost its wifi link. What!?! Go to the router. Yep, no issues there. Back to the dishwasher and see ALL the indicator lights are ON. Okay, hit the reset toggle. All lights turned off then immediately turned back on. After 10 mins trying to turn the lights off I gave up. But, wasn’t finished. Time to call the 800 help number but my phone was on the countertop above the dishwasher. Looking down I noticed all the lights on the dishwasher were off except the remote and wifi light. So, I get ready to get out of the app and find a notification the app was updated. The app during the previous 5 to 15 mins had severed the wifi dishwasher link to update the program on my phone without letting me know. I finally finished the linking progress with the dishwasher and got ready to put the app on my wife’s phone. I’m still working on that without any luck for a successful linkage of her phone with our new dishwasher. I’ll try again after I’ve cooled off. I’m just sharing my experience with this app and hopefully save you some frustrating loss of time you’ll never get back.

1/5Stopped remotely connecting
For some asinine reason, I cannot connect to my dishwasher remotely anymore. Everything was fine until a few months ago, where the app cannot connect to my dishwasher remotely anymore, while my Bosch refrigerator that’s an arm’s reach from the dishwasher shows up just fine in the app. When I’m home, both appliances connect to the app without issue, which tells me that the dishwasher now uses my phone as a network bridge, rather than connecting itself even though the app is purporting to show the appliance has a standalone connection to the server. I know I’m this isn’t the case because if I turn off my phone WiFi and reopen the app, all of a sudden, it can’t connect to the dishwasher (refrigerator shows up without issue)…. I’ve deleted the dishwasher from the app, I’ve factory reset the dishwasher. I’ve deleted the app. I’ve even deleted my profile and created a new one. Every time I do so, the refrigerator connects without issue while the dishwasher remains disconnected if I’m not on the same WiFi network. I also noticed that the dishwasher checks for a connection once and if it can’t connect, it doesn’t check again. This is starkly different than how it operated a few months ago, where it would send network pings every few seconds until it was able to connect.

2/5Over designed with surprising major flaws
First the App itself, then the bigger question, why is it needed at all? The App has a few major flaws. 1. The time estimate. With the auto cycle with Crystal dry and sanitize the App says the cycle will run 2 hrs and 57 minutes. It consistently runs over 4 hours so it’s WAY off! 2. Once you select a Front, back, or custom option with the App, there is no way of undoing it. You either have to select one of them and set all 4 quadrants to “normal” or change the selected cycle itself which resets those settings to normal and then select the desired cycle again. Also, why can’t more than three “Light” options be selected but four “Heavy”’options can? I might want 4 “Light”’with the delicate cycle. Those are the Apps issues. Now, Why is no drying option other than “Intensive dry” which just heats the water more, available with the speed 60 cycle? Why do we need 7 level options for the rinse aid? Why do we need three “sensitivity” options for the sensor (which don’t seem to do anything anyway). What is the purpose of “manual remote start”? You set it to start with the App but have to press the button on the dishwasher to actually start the cycle. Why are important cycles like rinse only only accessible through the App. Why, according to the App, does selecting “Eco” INCREASES the amount of electricity used but keeps the same amount of water used as without Eco? But frankly, why should I even need this App? It’s a dishwasher so necessary controls should be on the unit itself. In fact, it’s still in the exchange window so maybe I’ll just exchange this dishwasher with one that doesn’t have WiFi so all the controls WILL be on the dishwasher itself. I just did that with an over the range microwave I had purchased and I couldn’t be happier!
