  1. 5/5Last 20yrs

I’ve had a shoulder replacement prosthesis put in, foot surgery, cardiac atrial ablation, etc. and every time I’m glad that I have a little medical knowledge, and I learned a long time ago anything major like the things I’ve had you go to a teaching institution and not a local regional hospital or physician for these kind of services. Local physicians like those here in Wilmington are not affiliated with fellows and residence as such for the most part and miss a lot of education and teaching that they also learn being associated with each other in a teaching environment. It behooves you to take my advice, I’m only an ATC athletic trainer but I learned a long time ago it’s my health I’m gonna take care of it the best way I know how. Duke does a great job and everything they do they’re meticulous, their perfectionist, and one what one doesn’t know another does in a consult or what have you prior to your case. You owe it to yourself to trust Duke. I do

  2. 2/5Convenient/Confusing/Cluttered

    1. Convenient - The app does make tracking medical information easier, it's not exactly intuitive to navigate around, but you most likely find what you need, if you are looking for some specific medical history. 2. Confusing - Though you can track information, you cannot DO much in the app. My experiences relates to scheduling and appointment or requesting medication. With regards to scheduling, it seemed as if I can schedule an appointment, up until the last stage where I am usually (I can't remember a time that it actually worked, but I'm not certain it has never worked) informed that I need to call the facility. And that's the best case scenario. I experienced the worst case scenario with medication, I clicked refill request and the app will indicated that all was well, but days later I still received no alert from the pharmacy to retrieve my medicine. Then I found out that it never went through because I needed to call my provider and ask them to refill. It would be more clear to me if I could not request medication through the app, if it falls under some criteria that requires a direct call to the provider. 3. Cluttered - data doesn't get cleaned up unless you provider clears it. Even after days or months for a prescription have passed, the medication is still listed. And it becomes confusing, especially if you have multiple month prescriptions and you're trying to see if you need to request another refill. This negates the convenience factor in point number one. Additionally specialists, I have visited one time, are listed as my physicians whenever I try to schedule something (i still try even though it hasn't worked out, hoping that someday they'll patch it)

  3. 5/5God’s Blessings

I had Complete Knee Replacement Surgery 8 weeks ago. My care team was beyond excellent from pre surgery to present. The educational material and supplies presented prior to surgery prepared me well for the physical and mental journey ahead. The nurses, doctors; PT, entire staff, were knowledgeable, informative, patient, caring, attentive, encouraging, and available. My anesthesiologist staff called me a week prior to surgery at 9pm to advise me to go to the ER as my potassium was too low and then checked on me consistently. Dr. Seyler performed an incredible procedure without any complications from pre-surgery to present. He not only prepared me for the journey, but, was friendly and funny! I would not hesitate to put my health in their hands again, if necessary. Thank you all! May God bless you and continue to guide you in helping others.

  4. 4/5Go the EXTRA MILE

Duke Children’s is truly an awesome place. The staff is always fun, energetic, and genuinely concerned about the kids. They take the time to get to know the children and actually remember them, which makes such a difference for families during stressful times. The only reason I did not give a perfect score is because I think it would be wonderful if the lobby offered a complimentary coffee station with a few light snacks and maybe even an attendant. I know there is a small store available, but the coffee from the machine is not very fresh and it is expensive. This week alone, I met a family who wanted something to eat or drink but simply could not afford it. Families already travel long distances, pay copays, cover gas expenses, and deal with so many additional costs that come with medical care. On top of that, many children have to fast before appointments or procedures, so when they are finally able to eat again, an extra snack option beyond crackers would really help. Parents are often exhausted from long drives, late nights, and early mornings, and something as simple as fresh coffee and small snacks could go a long way in making families feel cared for and supported. Just a thought from someone who truly appreciates all the wonderful care they provide.

  5. 5/5Love this option

I love having this option that at any time of the night or day I can go onto My Duke Health and find out all about me! So I know I have an appointment coming up but when exactly is it? just go to My Duke Health. What were my labs the last time? Just go to my My Duke Health! it doesn’t matter if it’s 5 o’clock in the morning 11 o’clock at night or yes sometimes 2 AM. I also love that I can communicate with one of my physicians and I do health. Instead of spending time on hold with the telephone I can send a message and within at the most 42 hours. I have a response from my physician. It is just a fabulous communication device. the only thing I wish that they would add is getting instructions from my last visit.
