1. 5/5Love the app!!!

   I love this app. It’s not often you find a great app that does exactly what you were hoping. I don’t use all the functions but I’m sure they work fine. My main function is motion detecting my mailbox. Everyday around the same time I get a notification my mailbox is open and I look forward to it. I know that sounds may sound lame but trust me it’s cooler than you think. At least for me. I have a long driveway and would go back and forth to check the mail not knowing if mail had been delivered. With this app as soon as my mailbox is open BAM notification. I may use other functions later on but for now it fixed a minor issue for me that just makes my quality of life a tiny bit better. Also the battery life for my motion detector is amazing! And the ability to monitor that is super cool. Anyway thanks guys for a great product. I look forward to utilizing more of it’s functions in the future. If I could think of one thing I’d change it would be adding the ability to turn of the repeat alarm. I understand it is for the best for many users but for me I only need one notification that my alarm has been triggered. So a simple toggle for that would be cool. Thanks again!

   I was very skeptical about purchasing the Kangaroo Video Doorbell with Chime because I was so worried it was going to be like every other video doorbell. Where you pay out the yin yang for the door bell and then they want you to pay a yearly service fee just to get a picture sent to your phone. I am really glad I finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase the Kangaroo Video Doorbell with Chime. It’s better than I expected. My only three issues with this device is one the volume of the chime. Even set as high as it will go; it’s still pretty quiet. My other issue is also with the chime and that’s the lack of ring melodies. Your only given 2 melodies. Kangaroo and Ding Dong. Kangaroo is really low volume where as Ding Dong is louder but still rather low considering it’s suppose to alert you someone is at your door. I really wish they would add more melodies as well as make them a bit louder. My house isn’t that big but if I’m in my bedroom without my phone. There is no way I can hear either included chime from my bedroom. My third issue is with the premium add-on plan PPP. I don’t like paying for anything annually and really wish they would allow customers to have the option of paying monthly at the same price. Other than these three small issues. The app is fantastic and really easy to use. I will be a return customer and be adding onto my security system with more Kangaroo 🦘 products! Customer for life!

3. 4/5Easy Install Doorbell Camera Lacking

   I was super excited to finally purchase this product line for securing my new home after waiting for my closing. It arrived quickly and looked exactly as pictured. The doorbell camera is a little larger than I envisioned. Setup of the security system was effortless and the app made it a breeze. The motion and entry sensors are perfect! I am however extremely disappointed in the pictures from the doorbell camera. It took about an hour for it to start to take pictures and when it did, it left much to be desired. I was not expecting it to be on par with some of the more expensive options but I did expect to at least be able to see colors. The exposure is awful and the delay between the ring on the doorbell and the alert to my phone almost makes it unusable. I held out hope that night vision would be better and was again disappointed. I think I’ll have to go with a dual system for doorbell cam and security because I really am impressed with the security portion with the exception of the siren needing to be a little louder. Edit: Also the siren has updated 2 times in the middle of the night and, since it talks when doing so, scared the living daylights out my family.

   No matter which devices you choose, or which plan you choose (I’m on free), the system provides amazing bang for your buck. Keep in mind that some of their inexpensive devices are just that, inexpensive. Don’t expect the doorbell camera to be on par with systems like ring which need to be wired up, or need expensive solar mounts to stay running. In my opinion, Kangaroo is IoT security done right: -SIMPLE COMPONENTS keep costs down, no unnecessary bells and whistles (unless you want them with their subscription). -EASY SETUP means it’s very fast to deploy, with no headaches. -DATA STORED SECURELY in the usa through AWS (I’ve seen many cheap devices tunnel back to China) -FREQUENT UPDATES mean that any issues I encountered were resolved without any need for me to do anything. -GREAT SUPPORT from the friendly support team. -NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO HACK as a network and security engineer, one of the first thing I did was analyze how this device works, and they’ve done it right (as long as you keep your kangaroo login info safe)

5. 1/5Awful Customer Service and Product Itself

   Avoid this product and app at all costs. I started having connectivity issues with my front-door camera after a year of relatively successful use. (I had to return the outdoor cam after a few months because deer and other wildlife would walk through my backyard, and it wouldn't pick it up as movement.) My front-door camera would go offline about 50 times a day, even though my Wi-Fi was at full strength and within 20 feet of the camera, which they confirmed on their end as well. After MONTHS of them being unable to discern a solution, they finally offered to refund my camera and protection plan. It took another four months or so – and many MANY prods and emails after the promised "5-10 business days" without a deposit – for them to finally get the billing department to get me my money back. And then they tried to charge me again for a Protection Plan less than a week later, and I clearly don't have any active cameras with them!! I've had a Wyze for four months and LOVE IT. It's incomparably better for about the same price. So yes, my main complaints aside from the product itself being below competitors with the same value, Kangaroo has absolutely god-awful customer service (i.e., competence, understanding my issue, response time, follow-through) and billing department (i.e., duplicate charges, not approving the refund so it could be deposited, not deleting my plan and card from file once I clearly expressed I would never be using the products again, re-charging a plan for a device that's not active). I hope no one is ever subjected to its unbelievably unsatisfactory company, app, and products.
