1. 1/5Awful company and terrible service.

   Dear reader, I have taken time out of my day (my birthday no less) to rate this awful company’s service and terrible app. At first I considered rating the app 2 stars because the app is decently good looking. But after further consideration, I determined I should rate it a 1 star because the app isn’t programmed to show what the chargers are actually capable of. I was just at a charger that advertised 50kW charging but only charged to 39kW. On top of this, it was 39¢ per minute. Do the math and it’ll show you to charge up to 50%, it cost me $25. I’m now at another charger, and the same is true. After calling customer service to report this, I was made aware that a ticket for the same issue had been outstanding for over 3 months. Imagine if this was any other company that their core services were hindered so badly by management. To summarize as succinctly as I can - there is no way a company that is so well funded and connected could fumble the bag this hard without gross negligence or fraud being involved. I am looking forward to the day when I can read in the Wall Street Journal that the company is shutting its doors. The world will be better for it. To the EA marketing intern reading this, I’d be afraid to work for this company if I were you. In fact, I would jump ship as soon as possible, especially give the recent adoption of Tesla superchargers by the majority of car manufacturers. The longer you work for this awful, no good, rotten company, the worse your resume will look to any other company recruiter.

2. 5/5Very Accurate On Available Chargers, Pricing And Percentage Of Charge

   I have taken 2 road trips of 300 miles one way and I have been impressed with the app. It lets you know if the chargers you are looking for are available as you get there. The availability on the app is similar to that on location. I have set up my card to be topped up after a certain monetary level in the app and while charging, if I go away from the car, I am able to accurately check my charging status. Electrify America chargers are getting more reliable and using an non-Tesla EV on road trips would be impossible without EA chargers and the app makes it so much easier to navigate your route. The app would be complete if it would allow you to plan a trip from point A to B whilst accessing the chargers. You have to use some 3rd party apps to do this eg Plugshare, ChargeHub EV, Chargeway, usually a combination of those to effectively plan a trip.

3. 2/5Don’t rely on EA

   Last year i was on a long trip and necessity charging at a remote EA station. Something went wrong and it wouldn’t charge (i think that was my first charge on the EA network). I called support, they answered per quickly and although slightly rude and very weird (sounded like this person was at home on a headset so sound quality was terrible which makes it extremely hard to communicate error codes, details and station numbers etc) within about 15 minutes the problem was resolved and my car started getting power. Cut to yesterday, thankfully i was not in danger of gettingstuck side of the road but i was very low state of charge near my home. Station broken, called support and no answer for fifteen minutes of hold. Two stars because i have successfully charged 3 times on EA but i hate that i have to reconsider whether to take trips that rely on EA. It’s bad for everybody when some trips the only option at certain points is an unreliable network. Also i updated the app yesterday and today it says it needs another update.

4. 1/5Unethical and Frustrating Experience

   I’ve been using Electrify America for my Polestar and am switching to a Tesla on Monday. I wanted to cancel my $7/month membership and stop the auto-reload feature before transitioning. It took me 15 minutes to figure out how to cancel the membership, but I spent another 30 minutes searching through the app and website trying to stop the auto-reload—with no success. I finally had to call customer service, and they told me the only way to cancel the auto-reload is to delete my entire account. This is completely unethical and feels like a deliberate trap to keep customers locked in. I initially wanted to cancel because I wasn’t sure if I could use Electrify America with my Tesla. Now, even if it’s possible, I absolutely won’t. If canceling the auto-reload had been straightforward and they had been ethical and transparent, I would have gladly continued using their network with my Tesla if possible. I probably would have even purchased a CCS adapter to use their stations as my go-to when a Tesla Supercharger wasn’t available. But after this experience, I’m completely done with Electrify America. This level of difficulty in canceling a service is unacceptable and feels incredibly dishonest.

5. 1/5Electrify America Fail

   I’ve been using EA Pass+ regularly for 2 years with few issues that were easily resolved with a quick phone call to CS. I recently upgraded to iPhone 16 and at 12 recent EA charging stops the EA app upon swiping to charge immediately reports “Charger Error” and states options are to use NFC card reader on charger or call EA CS to initiate charge. I deleted and redownloaded app, cleared cache, changed credit card info, upgraded to IOS 18.1, and made 4 calls to EA CS. Using the NFC card reader did work to charge but did not included Pass + discount rate. EA CS states I have to call in so they can initiate the charge in order to revive Pass + discount, but after 30 minutes and multiple attempts they were unable to do so and submitted a ticket requesting reimbursement for the discounted rate. Three weeks with no response followed by another call to EA CS who stated no reimbursement would be provided and no refund for the Pass + membership. With access now available using an adapter at the reliable and fast Tesla Superchargers in the same locations for the same rate as non-discounted EA, I see absolutely no reason to continue to use EA if they are unwilling to make their app work or reimburse to receive the discounted rate when it doesn’t.
