1. 5/5Easy to Book - But Doesn’t Stay Logged In

   I’ve read lots of the previous reviews and my experience was a bit different in Feb 2024. Searching flight options, booking the flight, adding baggage, and checking out was very simple and easy. Once I decided on the flight, it took maybe 3 minutes to add passengers, add bags, and check out. That’s great! Logging in each time you use the app is annoying. It’s not a big deal, but having to enter an email address and password with each use is an extra, and unnecessary step. This would give the app an extra ⭐️ from me.

2. 1/5App needs help!

   I don’t quite understand why this app does not show my previous or future trips. Click on “my account” and it goes to My Trips. But… no trips are listed there. What’s the problem? What is the point of the app if I can’t check to see if there has been any change to my flight? My first trip with Avelo, they sent an email (buried in the 217 other emails they send with promotions) saying they canceled my flight and booked me on one the next morning. HELLO! The email should have had in bold letters “🚨IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING YOUR FLIGHT! PLEASE READ!” It didn’t…it just said “Flight status update..” I HAPPENED to log into my account a few days before to double check everything and when I entered my conf # it gave me a totally diff day and time for my flight… and oh look at that, my flight was canceled and rebooked. The app should be sending push notifications regarding flight changes, reminders to check-in, etc… I had to change my plans which was FINE - glad I checked. But this info should have been in the app… Come on guys! This is simple stuff - every other airline app allows you to access all your flight info and sends reminders. Other than app issues - I had no problem with the actual flight etc… 😏 It was pretty chill and uneventful.

   Honestly, this app is close to useless. If Avelo’s website would load consistently I’d choose to use my pc instead, but much like this app their website is barely functional so it’s really a crapshoot. I hate the app, but I’m forced to use it when the site won’t load. Problems you can expect to encounter with this app: - Don’t have your known traveler number memorized? Well, if you navigate away from the personal info screen (like when I open my Notes app to copy/paste my KT# I have saved there), the app is going to blank out all your data and you’ll need to re-enter it from scratch. - Accidentally close the app or go back a page? Too bad, now you have to start your entire booking process from the beginning again, starting with the flight search. - Use the calendar to select a date to what flights are available on Feb 1st? App is going to show you flights for the day before the date you selected instead. I want to love this airline - Avelo is so convenient for me to fly between FL and CT - but their technology needs SERIOUS attention because the entire process is so cumbersome and it reflects poorly on their brand. If Avelo doesn’t put some love into their app/website soon, I’m going to have to start booking on other airlines - if customers can’t trust the app/website to work, how can they be confident that their flight experience will be good? Avelo, I’m begging you, please hire an app development company to help with your site/app because your customers are suffering.

   Atop of dark and treacherous mountain is a black castle jetting into the sky above black clouds, flashing lightning, and roaring thunder. From a dimly lit light at the highest point of the castle, you can hear the diabolical laughter of the Avelo product manager. They scream into the howling winds, “Retrieve ye reservation ye thinks?!?! Remain logged in for convenience ye thinks?!?!…. Never!!!!!” They are the puppet master in the pain of our helpless journey through the Avelo app. The story began in rural, Pennsylvania in a small rundown steel town. They worked in the mill, subject to the inhalation of toxins and over time It took a toll on their brain and their heart. Some say, their turn to darkness stems from a broken heart at the hands of a scorned lover, but whatever the source, the darkness over the land remains the same. Shunned by their lover and sick with black lung they journey away from the town to find a new life. It was this journey that led them to discover a new invention called the world wide web. This portal into another world offered an entirely new land of opportunity. It is here that they stumbled upon a company called Avelo (no one really knows how it’s pronounced). This mysterious company offered opportunities that required absolutely zero experience or knowledge of the Internet - it was perfect. It was almost a dream. They were hired by this company and given complete control of the Avelo app with no questions asked. It was here that their reign of terror began and continues to this day. While some have searched for this product manager, the work from home model has made it impossible to locate their exact location. Sometimes the castle is located, but it mysteriously seems to move like it’s not even real like it’s just a dream, but we all know it’s a nightmare and it doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to end. God help us.

   Extremely disappointing customer service. I waited over 4 hours on hold only to be disconnected after the automated system announced I was next. I emailed Customer Care and never received a response. When I finally reached a representative on another attempt, she was unable to honor my Avelo Rewards benefits because my son and his fiancée weren’t booked on my original reservation. However, your website would not allow me to book them with us because they were traveling one-way while the rest of our family was booked round-trip. I also needed to remove my daughter from one reservation without canceling my own, something that cannot be done online. These issues required assistance from Avelo, yet getting help has been nearly impossible. Budget fares should not mean nonexistent customer service. After exhausting every reasonable attempt to resolve these issues directly, I am left with no choice but to consider filing a complaint with the U.S. Department of Transportation.
