1. 5/5One of those things you didn’t realize you needed

   I’ve gotten to the point where I needed a watchlist for my watchlist and Watchworthy has been a beacon of light in the clutter I call my queue. I spend more time adding stuff to all my assorted queues i don’t even know where to begin so I just end up switching back and forth between apps and scrolling through them without actually watching anything then inevitably just wind up watching something like The Office again. I’m so glad I found this app - at the top of my personal recommendations list was Barry, which was on my HBO watchlist but I always just scroll right by it. I gave it a try and ended up immediately hooked watching 4 episodes that night!

2. 4/5Amazing for recommendations

   Why I like it: This app is amazing for recommendations. The worthy percentage is so helpful to know how well the app thinks the show matches with your viewing preferences. I am bingeing a series that wasn’t even on my radar based on the app’s recommendation and I’m loving it. Other apps that give recommendations either don’t seem personalized to my viewing preferences or they use bad algorithms. Areas for improvement: This would be a 5 star app if the watchlist was improved upon. I need the app to allow me to mark episodes as watched. The watchlist should show the next episode in a series instead of an entire series. This would also stop the app from showing series that I’ve already completed in my worthy recommendations. Currently, since the app doesn’t have this feature, I have to use a different app to track my viewing. It would be nice if the detail page for a series would show other things you might like. For example, on the page for The Mentalist, it might suggest that others that liked this series enjoyed Psych. This would allow me to find things based on my favorite show and those suggestions should rate highly worthy for me anyway. I also wish that it contained movies and documentaries.

3. 4/5Mostly Good, But One Issue

   It’s a great app that really helps me when I’m trying to pick out a new show. Unlike online “what to watch” quizzes, it gives you a long and varied list of different shows that you might enjoy instead of just 1 or 2 results. Also, the results are much more accurate. In addition to that, I like the fact that I can save multiple shows to my watchlist at a time, so after I finish one show, instead of scouring everywhere for the next thing to watch, I can just scroll through my watchlist. I only have 1 major qualm with the app, and that is the fact that the “available on” feature is out of date for some shows, which can be quite annoying when i get really excited about starting a new show, only to find out that it’s not available where they said it was. This is mostly the case for shows that were once on a streaming service, and then removed, like The Office no longer being on Peacock and Parks and Rec no longer on Netflix. Aside from that, I would recommend the app if you have a hard time picking out shows like I do.

   I really like this app, and I recommend it to lots of people. I use the app multiple times a week, and I’ve made multiple watchlists (movies to watch, shows to watch, tracking finished shows. Etc.) Updated Nov. 2025, as I’d still like to see these features: The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is for 3 preferential reasons: 1. I wish there was an “okay” or “eh” rating. The current ratings are dislike, like, and love. I feel like there is a middle ground for a lot of movies and shows.. “I didn’t hate it, but I don’t think I’d watch it again” would be an “okay” for me. 2. When you go to “rate more” and have the opportunity to rate shows and movies, there’s an option to click “not interested.” When this is clicked, it hides the movie or show. I wish there was an option to choose not interested or to hide shows when on the show/movie page. You can remove shows/movies from the recommended Watchworthy list, but they reappear when the page is refreshed. I wish we could hide shows from recommended without affecting recommendations. (For example, I liked a couple cartoon movies that are good for kids/family/adults. Now, there’s so many kids movies taking over my watchlist. Some of the movies are probably good, but I’d like to hide them from always being recommended to me without having to dislike them all.) 3. I wish there was an option to mark episodes as watched. Watchlists will show (for ex) “3 updates to your watchlist. However, I’d like to be able to mark one show at a time versus having to mark all updates as done at one time for the whole watchlist.

5. 2/5Hasn’t been helpful for me

   The application itself in terms of performance, ease of access and functionality, is great but the app just hasn’t helped me find any slows that I would be interested in watching. I’ve added 80+ shows that I’ve watched to my list (or so I thought) but am just getting a bunch of suggestions I have no interest in. I questioned if watchlist is a list of what you have watched, or a list of what you want to watch, so I began ‘liking’ or ‘disliking’ the shows on my watchlist thinking maybe that would help, nope. Furthermore, once you run out of shows to watch, the options become more limited so there are plenty of shows that I’ve watched outside of my preferred genres that were either good or tolerable or eh but I feel that the limited ratings options make it difficult for their algorithm to determine shows worth suggesting. I still am able to find shows I love within my streaming apps so I know they’re out there- Watchworthy just hasn’t helped one bit in finding them.
