  1. 1/5MOST INCOMPETENT FINANCIAL INSTITUTION

STAY AWAY FROM this platform at all costs. There was an issue with matching names between my stripe business account information and my business bank account. I continued to submit supporting documentation multiple time (over 5 times) and instead of calling me to let me know what was it that they were specifically looking for, they kept and continue to decline the document without further explanation. I have contacted their costumer support personnel, which were very polite and had all intentions to help, they were unable to help resolve the issue due to lack of proper training and being inadequately equipped or supported by management. I honestly believe this company is scam and does not actually have licensed accountants to help resolve taxation issues. Why? Well the answer I was given by the rep didn't make sense and didn't sound legitimate. I was told that the name of the business name on the SS4 form given by the IRS didn't match the one on the bank account - which it did - just the bank account didn't have my own name on it because it's a business account and do business as XYZ but it clearly stated I'm the bank account owner. Here we are there weeks later and they're still holding my payout s hostage even after providing proper documents and contacting them multiple times. I'm still waiting on management phone call.

  2. 1/5SMALL BUSINESS BEWARE

I would never ever recommend Stripe to a single business owner I know. Especially small businesses. I am convinced at this point that Stripe is a “legal” scam, making money off of the little guy and hiding behind their pages upon pages of policies. My own personal story with Stripe is that I was verified and ready to go- signing up was a breeze. As soon as I launched my business that I worked for months and months on as a SAHM, I began to make lots of sales! Which was so exciting. To my horror, Stripe decided my business was “high risk”, and they paused my payouts. Every single dime I made is now being refunded to customers, AFTER I shipped out everything. They never should have accepted payments in the first place if my business (I formulate and make cosmetics) was so “high risk”. I tried to appeal twice and was denied, even after providing legal documents they requested. Their customer service was nonexistent, generic and probably just bots. I never could get ahold of a real human to help me fix the issue. My tale is not uncommon sadly. Stripe seems to continually screw over small businesses and destroy peoples hard earned livelihood. PLEASE STAY AWAY from them. The entire business is clearly run by Ai bots and web developers with no soul. It wasn’t a human that determined my business to be “high risk”, it was their Ai algorithm. Stripe is part of a dystopian universe I want no part of. I won’t be surprised if they face serious lawsuits in the future. I also won’t be surprised if this review solicits a generic response on their part, telling me to reach out.

  3. 1/5BUYER BEWARE

I registered my business with stripe to do payment processing. We provided all legal documents and identification required. Everything was running smoothly until suddenly we got a notice that our business has been deemed “high risk” and our account will be closed and our funds frozen. What is our business? We are a hotel that uses stripe to process virtual payments. One of our guests disputed a charge. The guest also came and stayed at the hotel and paid in full after realizing that they had mistakenly disputed this charge. Despite providing all evidence to stripe, their response was they could not provide us details on what the reasons for cancelling the account were and furthermore would seize our funds. Now we have several hundred transactions being made, ONE was disputed and subsequently resolved as customer error. We have lost access to our account and funds. I don’t mind if they don’t want to provide their service to us but the manner is which this has happened has been extremely unprofessional and we never had a chance to speak to an actual person. All communication is via bots. Is this the future we can look forward to? A soul less entity that can at will seize your assets and damage your reputation without due cause? I’m taking legal action against this company but what a nightmare this has been. Anyone who has a hotel and uses stripe could suddenly fall under such a scam attack so be aware. I hope I can finally speak to a real person at stripe about this and resolve things amicably.

  4. 1/5Stripe Randomly Holds Onto Your Cash

I am not one to take the time to write reviews honestly. But this has upset me to the point where I feel if I had, prior to signing up, read more reviews I actually would not have taken the time to sign up. PayPal is 10x easier to use when you have a business account. I do contracting work for mainly one customer and thought I would try stripe bc they were recommended by Invoices2Go, which is the app I use for my invoicing. So I downloaded the app, went through the screening process and was easily approved. I have never had to refund a customer in my life but am going to have to bc of Stripe. They’ve been holding $500 for almost 2 weeks now. AND they can’t tell me why. I spoke with my customer and he has done nothing on his end (keep in mind he’s paid me by the way of stripe through invoices2go numerous times now) and stripe can not tell me what is going on. And after some time consuming trouble of searching for an answer one of their customer service agents wanted me to send them my FB profile login by unsecured email!?! I hate to say it but I think this company has some behind the scenes security issues. Anyway, I have spoken to my customer and he is totally fine with me issuing him a refund and us meeting in person to use his cc with the PayPal here mobile swipe, which will be instant. I may sound like I am pitching PayPal which I am not, bc I do not agree with some of PayPal’s eBay policies, but they are by super far easier to use. My intention is to just put the word out bc stripe either needs to reel in their security issues or sell out to a company who will do so.

  5. 1/5Do NOT USE STRIPE! WARNING!*****

After 3 months of using stripe, they suddenly withheld my money that I earned as an artist from my paying customers. I’m a single mom who makes my living creating artwork so this has completely hurt me personally and financially. Not only are they withholding the funds for 120 days, they took their $ percentage out of it before they put it into “reserve”. One customer ironically is a business lawyer who is ready to escalate if stripe doesn’t resolve this issue immediately. Customer service is terrible, there’s no number to call, no messaging, just a email that they sent me saying they’re withholding my money and terminating business with me... when I replied to that email, their customer services gets to you when they want to days later, clearly no urgency...Plus they’re giving me the run around with each email, saying that they’re “looking into my account”. How long does it take to “look into my account!?” It took them 0.1 seconds to take my customers money, take their $ percentage and put it into their “reserve”. Therefore it shouldn’t take long at all to “look into my account”. They aren’t looking into anything, they’re just buying time, wasting my time and taking money from hard working people! After reading others reviews and seeing a trend with Stripe, it’s atrociously disgusting that a company would do this to small businesses ESPECIALLY during a time when the world is already in pain from this pandemic. Stripe, do the right thing, stop deceiving people, stop being greedy, just stop! Resolve immediately before having to escalate even further!
