   Well, Screambox finally added an Apple TV app. About a year late from what was initially promised. This corrected one of my primary two complaints about the service. The quality of movies has improved so, that is an added bonus. I have renewed my subscription after dropping it for the past year. The only issue I still have is in regards to their limitation on devices. Screambox limits you to 4 devices and 1 computer to use the app. You can only change/remove 3 of your devices every 90 days. This isn't mentioned when you subscribe to the service and really should be disclosed. For me this is a major issue as I don't watch the service every day and I have too many devices where I may want to stream on at one time or another. Counting streaming tv devices, tablets and phone I have about 7. There still isn't an app for game systems however, it wouldn't matter due to the limitations. I don't stream from a pc but, I can't use that license for another device. Why not? They should allow you to use any of your devices and perhaps limit it to two streaming at the same time. Every other service I can think of doesn't limit number of devices you sign in to and potentially stream on. Please correct this and I will update my review again. So far things are improving but, they still have a way to go to be competitive with other services such as Shudder or Arrow.

2. 1/5The library doesn’t justify the subscription

   I genuinely hate leaving poor reviews, however I am a professional reviewer which is just one aspect of by business. I’ve been in business a long time and given ScreamBox try after try, I feel that it’s important to note as this isn’t a “one off” like many reviews. I will try to make this quick , first as the title says , the library is just not there to warrant a subscription fee, there are literally better free services out there along with paid services that are comparable. Honestly, with a tad of DIY attitude there are resources to literally get every title ScreamBox offers for free legally. Now, for the few things that they did fairly well , for the API or the development side of things, unfortunately they just really dropped the ball with the clunky UI and again with the poor library, it’s not fun to use and has technical hiccups, this is not a service that that I’d suggest picking up especially with a overpriced subscription format. Do yourself a favor and either sub to the the top dog that starts with a S “Sxxxxxr” or start yourself a PLEX server and create your own endless library tailored to you , or there are many 3rd party options whether hardware & software to help you acquire everything ScreamBox offers and more, such as certain products and .APKs, .IPA’s or open source legal projects like KODI. The bottom line is I have paid for this service multiple times to be disappointed. Unfortunately, ScreamBox has always been under par and dead on arrival. Pun intended. Happy Halloween!

3. 2/5Doesn’t support Airplay

   There are a lot of movies I wanted to watch on this app. I subscribed thinking this is going to be easy to use like any other streaming app. Immediately, I try to watch a movie via Airplay. It doesn’t play smoothly on my smart tv. It often pauses randomly or it will have connection issues. I tried to cast the app using chrome cast. It also had connection issues. I make sure my OS is updated on both my phone and tv. I try another tv in my house. Still have the same problems. I contacted customer support. I was told Screambox doesn’t support airplay or chrome cast. I guess this will be my first and last month paying for Screambox unless they fix this issue.

   Search feature in this app is OLD! Takes forever for the update PER LETTER - Does not support any dictation either. Cannot setup different profiles for family members. Sidebar menu overlaps with Main window making things difficult to read (on ATV 4K, with a 4K TV. Update March 27, 2025: Unsubscribing is a nightmare. I had to unsubscribe from the very same laptop that I signed up for the service. I tried using the iPhone app and the Apple TV app and it told me I needed to cancel from the same device Insogned up from. Which was a laptop website. Goofy service and support is no existent. Updated 5/2/25: Unsubscribed and was offered 3 months at .99 each! Took them up on the offer and realized more issues with the app. Screambox doesn’t always keep track of what you watched. I was 40 minutes into a movie, exit out of the movie and app using the back button on Apple TV. Once I came back to finish the movie it was not listed under Continue Watching and when I started the movie again it started from the beginning and I had to watch the commercial again. BTW, the trailer’s audio kept saying the same thing over and over as the video of the trailer continued on. Had to exit the app again and then restart it until the trailer showed audio and video in sync. If this company would update the app, I might be able to stay, but not with all the issues. No developer has reached out to me as of May 5, 2025.

5. 1/5DO NOT USE, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE

   I received a one month free trial from a piece of Terrifier merchandise that I got for Christmas, and I’ve been trying desperately to cancel the recurring charge for months. If you try to cancel in the app, it redirects you to the website. On the website, it gives you an error if you want to cancel your subscription. Then, if you try to go to the support section of the website, it says “error: you do not have access to this portal.” The link doesn’t work and they don’t have a support phone number or email listed anywhere else in the app or online. I then tried to delete my account, but it won’t let me delete it while I have an active subscription. The worst and most frustrating experience I’ve ever had with any kind of subscription. I’ve been scammed out of almost $50 at this point.
