1. 1/5CANT BUY TICKETS- Use booth on Plaça Sagrada Familia

   We tried sooo many times over a period of days to buy tickets through the app to no success. We went in person and talked with the workers outside and they were of no help. They told us that was the only way and they offered no solutions for how to get tickets. We saw the red Barcelona tourism info booth on Carrer de Sardenya, in front of Plaça Sagrada Familia. They were super helpful and immediately able to get us tickets. My advice to fellow travelers- don’t waste time trying to buy tickets on the app if it doesn’t work the first time. Just go in person to the booth! It’s not officially connected to the Sagrada Familia foundation and that’s why the workers at the building won’t tell you about it. As an additional note, it seems like some credit cards from non-European countries don’t work on the app due to differences in security features. That’s the only reason I could find as to why my visa didn’t work.

2. 1/5Horrible App doesn’t work

   Whoever designed this needs to be fired. The App is just a holder using the website and it’s not even good at that. The form entries time out and then a error is just shown with letting me know what the error actually is. We used the site and got more “in” only to get some error trying to use the credit card (U.S.) No one is the U.S. has a 2-factor credit card. Why not just use Apple Pay in an IOS App? That’s far more secure than using a debit card - which no one should be using for purchases. After around a dozen attempts on our phone, various laptop browsers, we just decided not to visit this place. Obviously with this horrible system to get tickets, they don’t want direct visitors. Maybe only tour operators who can charge far more.

3. 4/5Great App, Frustrating Ticketing

   If you’re visiting the Sagrada Família, chances are you’ll come across this app at some point. The user interface is excellent—intuitive, visually appealing, and smooth to navigate. The icons and directions are clear, straightforward, and make sense. I opted for the Nativity Tower (though many recommend the Passion Tower) and the self-guided tour. While the audio guide provided sufficient information, I found myself wanting more depth. It shared fascinating facts and interpretations, but I was hoping for more detail on architectural theory, statistics, and the philosophy behind the design. The inclusivity through language options and audio quality is condonable. My biggest issue with the app was the ticket purchase process—what a nightmare! My partner and I tried over seven different cards, both Spanish and American ones, but none worked. We’ve tried paying through the app and the website. After some research, I found this is a common issue that’s persisted for years. Interestingly, this problem seems unique to the Sagrada Família, as other attractions in Barcelona don’t face the same issue, at least from my experience. I strongly urge the developers to address this problem immediately. In my case, the purchase eventually went through randomly two days before I left the country. Overall, the app is fantastic for what it’s designed to do and enhances the experience of visiting the Sagrada Família. However, the ticketing system is a significant flaw. For some users, it works seamlessly on the first try, but for others, it’s a frustrating ordeal that seriously undermines the overall experience. I wish in person ticket purchase came back since it would bring ease for many people. It’s 100% worth the visit, although it hurts to pay all those dollars for it.

4. 4/5Known issue uploading to Apple wallet

   We ordered the tickets on a laptop and received the tickets by email. Aafter downloading the app, I had trouble uploading the tickets to the Waller and emailed them. They responded that there is a known incompatibility with Apple wallet and to just show them the PDF version of the tickets that was attached to the email confirmation. One could download them from the app. I also found out that the audio tour is only available for download when you were at the church. That’s why they ask for location access.

5. 5/5Works well using home WIFI in the US

   I had no glitches with purchasing or downloading the audio guide using my home WIFI. The app does warn that if you use a credit card, you will need to have the ability to do a 2 step verification with your bank. This meant that I got a pop up window asking me to go to my bank app and verify the purchase. Once I did this, I returned to the app, clicked verification completed, and the purchase went through. All without a glitch and in less than 3 min. I hope this is helpful!
