1. 4/5Great once you figure out how to use it!

   So much better than using quarters in a meter and not having any change. Once you download the app and figure it out it’s good. My husband went to visit his mom an hour and a half from our home and called me to tell me what zone he was parked in (I have the app on my phone) I entered it and he was good to go. Mom was happy too! 😊

2. 3/5Fine app, but Evanston hates parking

   Would I be transgressing the license if I said the app works fine, but Evanston now has better tools to continue their ridiculous parking regime? I’m concerned about the non-disparagement clause in the license because I’m trying to disparage the Evanston parking enforcement, not the app itself (even though the app license terms are ridiculous in themselves... but ridiculous in a way that most licenses are these days. If I never see the phrase “in our sole discretion “ again it will be too soon) To be clear, the excerpt from the license below is not intended to disparage “company” but to inquire about whether disparaging a client of Company is considered disparaging Company. From the license: You agree not to download, display or use any Content in any other manner that is likely to cause confusion among consumers, that disparages or discredits Company and/or its licensors, that dilutes the strength of Company or its licensors’ property, or that otherwise infringes Company or its licensors’ intellectual property rights.

3. 1/5Terrible, horrible, very bad app.

   This app should offer convenience. It only offers headaches. The interface is so ridiculously bad that you’ll revert to just carrying rolls of quarters. New Session: first, the app asks you what zone you’re in. On your internet-connected, GPS-enabled phone. It wants you to do this for it. There is also a typo and/or mangled English on the explanatory text on this screen. Enter the space: QR codes on the meters, maybe? Or even camera text recognition? A location-aware selection of the few nearest meters’ numbers? Nope, nope, and nope. Walk around the meter until you find the sticker. Copy in the number and don’t make any mistakes. If you are past the metered time — that is, if you are trying to pay when it’s actually FREE to park — you get the message “Parking Not Allowed.” This is the app LYING to you for its own nefarious reasons. Maybe it wants that space for itself. Now it’s time to enter the duration of your stay. Even though every permutation of hours and quarter hours could easily fit on the screen for you to easily choose from, you’ll get to use little scrolly controls just because it takes longer. Important: never, ever allow the app to lose your payment information. It is a brutal, frustrating experience trying to restore it. Just kidding. It’s not up to you — the app will simply jettison your payment info for no reason that it will ever reveal. I sure hope you remember your PIN. What’s that you say? You don’t, because why would a fingerprint-enabled device require use of a PIN? Well, I guess you think you’re more clever than every single developer at Passport. There’s more. You’ll find it. My city has chosen this abomination as its solution to coin-free meter payment. The only reasonable response is to start walking everywhere. So as a Health & Fitness app, I guess it gets five stars.

4. 1/5Horrible Experience

   I’ve had the Park Evanston app for several years now without any issues. However this week the opening page for the app had been a sign in page(hasn’t come up in years.) I have an account with money in the wallet, but I signed in anyway. Then I noticed that there is no submit button; after putting in my phone number nothing happens. I can not use the app and I have tried to find customer support, but the phone # Evanston311 gave to me goes unanswered! I can’t get into the app so I can’t contact customer support through it. Extremely frustrating!!!!!

5. 1/5Simply the Worst

   This application and the accompanying sidewalk signage are the worst. The ap loads really slow and has too many steps to complete to pay for parking. So many steps, that half the time, I don’t complete the transaction. Not out of mischief but because the ap isn’t user-friendly. Plus, why isn’t there a feature that allows you to end the parking session? Say I pay for an hour but finish my errand in half the time. Why can’t I get a credit? With only one or two signs per block, “meter” numbers are way too small to be legible. Give me a handful of coins and an old fashioned meter to plug anytime.
