  1. 1/5Very dangerous! Beware users

I have the Curts override button for 2 years and I was happy with it until it forced us to change this new app. The purpose of the override button is you can control the brake of trailer with out the app. But this app disabled my button. As soon as this app is closed( working in the background, not turn off) the button stop working! I was glad that I found out earlier. Imagine that people didn’t know that and had fishtail need to control the trailer. End up the button is not working! It gonna lead to injury/ law suit for this company, even worse that someone lost their life! The company suppose test it and make sure it working well before you publish this new app and “force” close the old app. I did call the company and tell them the problem and they said they were aware this issue and it is a “glitch” of the app. AND DON’T KNOW WHEN CAN THEY FIX IT! That pricy button now is a decoration in my car…. Apple should force them to remove this app. Dangerous

  2. 1/5The update makes the break controller unusable

In our first camping trip for this year after the winter season, I was asked to upgrade to a new app and everything started not working after registration and set it up at the beginning of the trip. For some reason, it does not recognize the trailer anymore even when the 7 pin cable is connected and the LED stays solid blue all the time not turning into green at all. It was very strange and after hours of troubleshooting (deleting the profile and app, redownloading and setting it up on other phones), we had to gave up on using our trailer brake and decide to finish our trip without it. How come the company fails to test the app if they force the user to switch to the new app? Why we can’t use the old app even if we wanted to? Don’t understand what you guys are thinking and why you risk customers’ lives with such a hasty decision? We now have to look for a new trailer brake controller!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡

  3. 1/5Horrible use of Bluetooth Bordering on unsafe

No Bluetooth device I’ve ever used requires the app to be on screen in order to stay connected until this app. Minimizing the app to say access your GPS app disconnects the Bluetooth controller requiring Bluetooth to reconnect when you bring this app back on screen. The delay and reconnecting Bluetooth could lead to a very dangerous situation if you’re in need to hit the manual override on brake controller. If the app is on screen or in background Bluetooth should always stay connected. What would be a great addition would be if you could use the split screen function like video apps so that the break override could stay onscreen when using GPS or audio apps. With the way the app currently works I’m not sure if I feel safe using it. It’s sad I’ve gotten one season out of using the Bluetooth brake controller.

  4. 1/5Worked fine for two years, manufacturer pushed this update, now my $300 controller is a paperweight.

What is there to say? It simply does not work. It was working fine until the Kurt echo brake controller app automatically updated and stopped working, just giving me a screen that says to download this app. This app doesn’t work, it just won’t acknowledge the Bluetooth connection. There doesn’t seem to be any way to fix it. The app cannot be connected to the brake controller because it won’t connect to Bluetooth, and there is literally no troubleshooting process, the app just will not touch Bluetooth and there’s no way to bypass it. no apparent pathway to customer service either. So I guess I’m just out the value of this thing and stuck on the side of the road because of a stupid unwanted unnecessary software update.

  5. 1/5They refused to publish my last critical review

Suffice to say, garbage product, because of the app. Curt/lippert have ZERO control over the app, and will lie thru their teeth when they tell you their app team has reproduced the issue and is working on a fix. This app deserves ZERO stars. I’ve been trying to get this shoddy thing to work properly, but haven’t found an iPhone or *other* phone that the app works properly with. 4 months of support calls and I got Nowhere. I’m sure they will respond to This review with a message to please call them M-F for support, but those canned responses are as worthless as their support teams. Crazy, when you call support they don’t even know how their hardware works, they don’t know how to use, pair, or replace the battery on the external button. Also, I hit a deer last month towing my trailer because this app did not work properly. Very dangerous!
