  1. 5/5MyChart trumps Healow

Since I started using MyChart in 2021, I have been able to freely communicate with my doctors and upload results they would need for further review. I don’t have to rely on slow snail mail, phone calls messages that may be relayed incorrectly, nor miscommunication. I can send messages as needed without delay. This has been a GodSend to my health. One complaint, however, is having to battle whether or not I can see billing Information for all my family members. I know when I have a physician using MyChart, I have quality care. Those physician groups using Healow are greatly lacking flexibility and transparency. I have nothing good to say about the Healow app, MyChart competitor. It’s clunky and severely lacking in features that allow ease of communication to my medical staff. Often, Healow admin assistants end up supplying emails to the patient in order to pass medical records because of Healow’s inaccessibility. In that manner, not all communications are recorded in one place like MyChart. I’ve been enduring unbelievable pain and exhaustion since before 2020 and every additional step required for communication is exhausting. MyChart helps minimize the aggravations. MyChart allows all of my medical practitioners to see my complicated medical history with the right app permissions. Much less can be said of my practitioners using Healow; they are all blind to the records which cannot be shared amongst Healow users. This is taxing on what little energy I have toward medical record keeping.

  2. 5/5MHO is a life changer!!!

For all the years having to communicate with clinicians for myself and now for my two kids, and others I care for, MHO has been tremendously helpful. I remember the days before MHO! Now, no more calling the doctors’ office and waiting by the phone, put on hold and the phone drops, or calling the wrong department altogether and after all that, only to talk with someone and forgot the outcome of an undocumented conversation. MHO have everything in one place, communications with your care team is quick and secure, documented, even phone encounters gets documented. Now, I can take the time to write down my non-emergency medical questions to my care team and they can decide if it’s something I need to go in person for. Records that I need for all administrative stuff e.g., kids school etc. are all accessible via MHO. I can keep track of my annual visits, review visit notes and follow-up with questions if needed, pay bills through MHO, request medication refills, scheduling appointments, etc. There’s just so much great thing about MHO that I cannot fit everything good about it in this review space!! Another note, we like to thank our care team and sends a follow-up thank you note without it that becoming an administrative burden to the care team! And I wonder if there’s a way to thank the care team via a button without bombarding them with more administrative burden; a “thank you” message that they don’t have to open by a certain deadline or ever! Giving us patients the ability to say thank you and express our gratitude to the care team is important!

  3. 4/5Confusing

I get multiple notices to go look at things sometimes I don’t know what things that actually wants me to look at. It asks for drug reactions medications whose names I don’t recognize at all but may be another version of something I have taken. The menu names are a bit vague and disorganized from my point of view,. I just paid $45 and it says I owe $45 Very hard to tell what visit whether I just paid for it already. Information can be inaccurate but I am very limited in my ability to fix it and it often changes it’s usually never fully correct which concerns me. It seems a different doctors add to the mix and are unaware of certain medication‘s. Today for instance it said I was taking both the fast acting and the slow acting version of a medication, when I’m only taking one of them. Hard and confusing and now inconsistent to print out some reports from Phone It seems like the format keeps getting redesigned so I often spend time looking for things that I used to be able to find. A lot of the links that explain the medication’s or procedures lead nowhere. It’s definitely helpful to have all information in one place, but inconsistencies at all levels and dimensions could be dangerous. Every time I look, I find something not quite right sometimes unlikely to be a problem other times it could be. I do like getting test results. Incredibly quickly as waiting for them can sometimes be quite unsettling.

  4. 5/5Life Changing 5*

Until someone in my community had shared their journey with Ochsner and their ability to communicate via messages and Zoom with their doctors, I was not familiar with the app for Ochsner nor had I ever been a patient there. I’ve currently been going through fighting cancer and was not receiving care that needed in Mississippi. I downloaded the app; the world opened up. All the specialists I needed to see were right there at my fingertips suddenly as well as the ease and simplicity too schedule appointments at my desired location/time/provider. In addition I’ve since been able too experience Ochsner and if could give more than 5*, I definitely would be. I had to have an EUS done there; every single individual I encountered regardless of involved in my care directly or indirectly, they ALL showed such kindness, respect, compassion, that I’d not had this kind of care anywhere else. And I mean everyone I crossed paths with and not just on the date of my procedure but also at a whole different location where I went to see my new Ochsner oncologist at Luling and again 5* too infinity more, because everyone right down to the receptionist and the individual working at their tiny cafe was AMAZING! Thank you Ochsner for choosing employees that are obviously happy to be there doing what they do, I am quite grateful!! Keep up the great work!

  5. 5/5Appreciate New System

I’m uncertain what the best way to address this system that lays things out for the patient in an easy to navigate and easily understood fashion. Obviously, the days of the patient not seeing their chart, etc, are long gone and I think whoever decided that the patient should have a clear and easily understood reporting of their health reports was very wise. I still can remember the days when there were times when it almost seemed that the patient’s chart was hidden from them and only the doctor could go over the various test, procedures, and protocols that were listed in the patients chart. I will say that having a primary physician like Dr Mike Fetherston makes me far less anxious about what I should know but with so many things changing, I can easily understand how some patients could become very anxious about certain areas of their health. I do know for myself that having the ability to periodically go over things pertaining to my health does motivate me to a greater degree to do the things I should be doing that in the long run will equate to better health than if I was tk simply do what I thought I should be doing on my own, potentially ignoring other things that my physician may bring up, no matter the personal notes I take at the time. I believe most individuals feel empowered when given the opportunity to carefully review and perhaps have a better understanding of what in previous years old ones physicians reviewed, followed by that information being shared with the patient who may or may not be able to properly digest everything they need to know and should be doing in that particular moment.
