   I have the larger Kodak photo dock printer and it took longer to get going. This Kodak Step app and printer duo were off and running within five minutes! The app makes it easy to load and print 2x3 photos. There is a wealth of options for framing and “stickering” available in the app. This process can be overwhelming as there is no way to save an edit in process. Maybe I missed it in my zeal to print quickly. I’d love to be able to have a temporary save of the editing options like frames so that I don’t have to start from the beginning to see what my image might look like with different frames or stickers. It appears that you have to start from scratch if you look at other options once you’ve selected a possibility. The stickers are nicely grouped to allow browsing across holidays, images, etc. it would be nice if the frames were likewise grouped. And, the final reason for the four rather than five star rating for me is that while some holidays had multiple images or frames, others were left out (e.g. Father’s Day). It would also be great to see some more options in the way of pets, travel, hobbies, etc. The app gets four fabulous stars for ease of printing. I’m happy.

2. 1/5App Crashes

   Got the Kodak Step as a gift from my boyfriend. When letting the printer charge, I downloaded the app to be able to print pictures. After the tutorial, the app completely crashed not just once but twice. Once the printer was charged I was able to picture two pictures no problem. Quality isn’t all that great but that is to be expected by something that is basically a thermal printer. However, by the time I went to print a third picture, it told me there was an error and to “please try again”. Then it just kept spinning on the picture and never went to the “preparing to print” icon page. Even with closing the app out, restarting both the printer and my phone, nothing worked. I saw someone else said that customer support suggested screenshotting the picture and then printing it, and that work for one picture but that’s it. Also, anytime I try to edit the picture, even if it’s just moving it slightly, the app crashes. I saw a new update for this app came out about a week ago but clearly things haven’t been fix yet for iPhone users. It should not be THIS hard to print photos. Honestly would give this 0 stars if I could for how badly the app is working to be able to print pictures.

3. 5/5Best thing I bought in 2025!

   I absolutely love this little printer! I bought it at the beginning of the summer and I love it! I bought it to print out memorable moments throughout the summer but it has come in handy for my painting hobby many times. I used my phone for reference while working on a painting but this little handy printer has made a huge difference. I can just print a couple of reference pictures, even make a collage with the app and I don’t have to keep using my phone. The app is great. Easy to use and lots of editing tools available.

4. 3/5New firmware destroyed quality

   I use this printer to print a lot of random things. I like to pack the 2x3 photo with about 30 pictures. Before when I first got the device full scale photos that take up the whole picture would print at a slightly lower quality. That was fine but what was cool was that when I packed these pictures onto the screen the resolution was much better and there was a surprising amount of detail in these fingernail sized photos. Now after some time it wanted to update its firmware and now that quality and sharpness boost is gone and everything I print has terrible(standard) resolution. Please do not nerf your products I just wanted to print little pictures 😭😭

   This is a great app - I can use it to print wallet-sized photos with the Step Printer. Since the paper is also sticker paper, I could also print out stickers to use with my projects. Unfortunately, my photos often come out discolored when I print them, sometimes they are cut off at the edges. Even using filters and trimming don't work. It becomes a matter of trial and error - which can unfortunately waste paper. I hope one day soon the photo editor is more effective at reducing those problems. That way, printing photos could take lesser tries.
