   My first experience with kiwi was excellent- I purchased a very cheap ticket and had an excellent trip. I recommended the website very strongly amongst all my friends and coworkers.. even got in discussions convincing the “skyscanners” that “kiwi” was cheaper and had the “kiwi guarantee” that set it apart. My next experience has been a disaster. I had a flight cancellation on one leg of my trip and was unable to be rebooked.. requiring me to rent a car and drive. One the next leg of my trip I had a delay that would cause me to miss my other 2 connections which required me to find transportation to another airport and book a new ticket. These things can happen with flights- it’s totally understandable and luckily I am a flexible traveler. What I am not okay with is how difficult it has been to attempt to get any kind of reimbursement or flight credit from kiwi. The customer service immediately has a defensive attitude and has provided no help. I have submitted receipts and letters from the airline and can never deal with someone that knows what’s going on with my claim.. I could go on and on but the point I am wanting to make is kiwi is great and cheap if you have a flawless itinerary but do not expect help or a “kiwi guarantee” if you have flight/travel issues. A company gets its reputation by how they handle people and situations when things don’t go as planned. I never write bad reviews but feel very strongly about how difficult this company has been to work with and want others to be warned before they get stuck in the same position.

2. 3/5Cheap Flights but Horrific, Slow, and Unsuccessful Refunds if your Booked Flights Change

   Updating to 3 stars because a refund was obtained following this review posted below. I want to preface that Kiwi is not always a scam because I have successfully flown through flights purchased through the website/app. However, should an airline change occur (even by the airline itself), you are almost certainly doomed. At that point, it is my belief that Kiwi scams many of those customers. For example, it took me over a full year to get a refund for an airline canceled flight during the start of the pandemic, and even then, it was less than the purchase price and valid in “Kiwi credit” only. This wasn’t a scam, but it was a highly undervalued refund. Stupidly I gave Kiwi a second chance for a flight in May 2021. The airlines canceled my flight, and it took a full 1.5 years for Kiwi to reach out and say (and I quote), “We regret to inform you that the carriers haven’t provided a refund for your trip…we have to close your refund request.” After following up, I was told yet again that a refund wasn’t possible—even though the airline canceled my flight. So is Kiwi a scam? Not always, but you can easily get swindled if your flights ever change—even if it’s the airlines canceling a flight. Think twice about whether or not you’d rather risk your money or spend a few extra dollars to be safer by booking elsewhere. In my opinion, never ever book with Kiwi.

   My wife booked flights in Israel through this app and it has been 2 days after they charged my card and everything still says pending despite it saying it should be confirmed in 24 hours. Customer Service is Nill. You call their number and get a robot prompt that ask for your confirm and I give that and it keeps saying please be patient we have a lot of calls but you will be addressed in24 hours and it says they can’t do anymore for you and the robot hangs up on you. So let’s end an email but there is no where to email except a chat box which is another robot with prompts that takes you through madness then it says someone will get with you in 24 hours but it has been 48 hours past and I still have received nothing by chat/email or phone calls or confirmation of my flights. I need to know am I on or off the plane leaving in 10 days but I get nothing. I booked Israir and frankly their contact info is also horrible to find a phone number or info in English to address my concern Very frustrating. Update, it took 4 days for Kiwi to confirm my reservation but I could never reach a person or get a reply from their chatbot during those 4 days. I contacted Kayak because it was originally booked thru their reference, I contacted my bank and I believe both of these did their due diligence to contact and resolve but not until I wrote a bad review on Apple App Store did I finally get a reply from anyone at Kiwi. God forbid if it was an emergency my frustration would be that much worse.

   I highly suggest you book with anyone else other than kiwi. They are the absolute worst! They make you think that you are getting a deal and every corner you turn you get charged for something. They didn’t alert me about my flight delay when I was starting my trip. I was also not told in any format that I had to order my 10 hour international flight meal early. I went over my emails with Kiwi with a fine tooth comb, and there was nothing noted about this. I’ve never been on an international flight where they have not fed you at least something. When service was going around, I asked if I could order at that moment, and they said no. It was a 10 hour flight, and I only received two little cups of water. They also did not send me the right ticket for my train to Paris. And after all was said and done my flight home was canceled. No email, text or anything! I showed up to the gate and was told my flight was canceled and they put me on a different flight to Las Vegas. Just to make myself clear my home is in Seattle not Las Vegas. And no, it was not just a layover flight. They were literally dropping me off in Las Vegas with no way back to Seattle. But because I wasn’t alerted I also missed the flight to Las Vegas because it was a different airline. Please save your money and actually use a credible site. I do realize that this all sounds very dramatic, but it is 100% true. And this was before the pandemic started so it had nothing to do with that.

5. 1/5Flight cancelled with no notice and will not refund the money

   I understand kiwi is a third party company but I thought I would give them a try because it was a cheap flight for a weekend trip. Almost three months ago I purchased a flight through them for frontier airlines. My flight was supposed to leave at 4:55 pm and I get through security and get to the gate only to find out that my flight had been cancelled. No email or anything from kiwi to inform me(still not one to this day). I call them and they said they hadn’t been informed by the airline. They had no other flights for that destination and all other flights were double to triple to what I paid. I said okay well I would like a refund because at this point I am driving to my destination via a rental car. So today I get an email saying We regret to inform you that the carrier couldn’t provide a refund for this trip. We did our best to get you your money back, unfortunately it wasn’t possible. Again this was a cancelled flight not me missing it and they still won’t refund me. So at this point I call customer service and they tell me they aren’t giving me a refund to contact frontier. I asked them what reasoning did frontier give them and they said no reasoning was given. I then contacted frontier and they said to contact kiwi for refund. So I am tired of the back in forth through both companies so I am leaving this review. Overall just a terrible experience and I am just glad I didn’t get stranded at an airport on a return flight.
