  1. 1/5YIKES! Run away DO NOT BUY!

First I know this review will get buried as all negative ones about this product do. You’ll see the positive ones first. I had 4 of these cameras in operation. Yes they worked well for almost a year. Then the marketing began. At first the cameras wouldn’t work unless I subscribed. I managed to click around the blocks and was able to use the systems. After a few months I had to sign in and reset my password to use the cameras. Next came having to reload the app on all my devices. Finally I was blocked from using the system at all, and here’s the scary part. They blocked my accounts and gave me a listing of ALL OF my account activity with details of every alarm and use . They were monitoring Everything!! Wow, how scary is that. They even had my user name for other apps that I use. If you have read this review this far here’s what I tell you. Unless you’re into being hacked and scammed do not use these cameras. One, you are being serious tracked, two, there service are not inexpensive and doesn’t deliver, three, system is not secure, and finally there is no technical support to solve any problems. And DO not click on the link they provide. Doom and gloom will follow.

  2. 1/5They charge for their cams and make money from ads

Yi and Kami (same parent company) used to be good until they’ve slowly stripped away features and now displays ads before you can access your cameras. It is frustrating to have to deal with ads when you get an alert from your camera and cannot view the video right away. The biggest pros to these cameras was the built in SD card slots so you can have a SD card in them to record the video and not have to pay for cloud based storage or subscription. Now this company is requiring the purchase of their cloud “premium” subscription in order to remove the ads. I will be replacing their cameras with Kasa and Tapo cams, same SD card slots and functionality but without the ads. If you’re going to delay the viewing of my cameras with ads, then the cameras should be free. I do not appreciate displaying ads for cameras I’ve paid for. By the time I get through the ads, the event for the alert I’ve received has already passed. I am scared for not being able to view critical events right away, where each second counts. Update: And their response is to offer a discount on their premium subscription to remove the ads. What a shake-down! My Kasa and Tapo cams are ad free and works the same way. Buy those instead. (Sort the reviews by most recent and you’ll see how these cams used to be good. Now they are just money hungry. Yi and Kami are the same company so don’t buy Yi cameras either unless you want the same headache dealing with ads.)

  3. 1/5Useless - DO NOT BUY!!

Honestly, the ads have made this app and all of my devices useless! I researched a lot of cameras and purchased these because I liked the value and the fact that I could manage my own videos on SD cards. I have to click through ad after ad after ad before I can get to the cameras at my home now! I can’t imagine how I’d feel if there were an actual emergency at my house and I need to access a camera but it takes forever to click tiny boxes throughout the ads (including the new AI ad you send EVERY TIME I VIEW MY CAMERA)! Please fix this without forcing me into a “subscription” just to get the app back to where it was when I purchased the cameras. Now, if I try to watch any recorded video, even the 5 second clips, I have to pay since all of my SD cards have mysteriously stopped working. Quite the coincidence that my SD cards corrupt around the same time that Yi/Kami starts forcing you to pay to watch anything on the camera. You can no longer stream live video for more than 90 seconds unless you pay for the subscription. The Yi/Kami companies are nothing better than scammers. The cameras are absolute garbage now.

  4. 1/5Waist of money

I purchased the cameras, I purchased the camera because this company allowed you to use memory cards instead of cloud service overtime. This company has stopped their users to be able to use their memory cards to record, and everything is being pushed to buy their cloud service, which is way overpriced and it’s not worth it. Cameras doesn’t work all the time I have their cameras compared to other camera companies that I use like EUFY and Ring and this is the most useless pushy Camera system I have ever seen specially when they started pushing to use their cloud service and the most dirty way to push your customers to pay for cloud services. You get so many ads before you can even view your camera system. There is no live view anymore unless you’re paying for cloud service which I was using this for and at this point it’s time to get rid of their cameras is the best option. For sure I will not resell their cameras because I wouldn’t want somebody else to go through what I had to go through having their camera system. This company is dirty and I will not recommend it.

  5. 1/5This app and company went down hill fast!

I have bought over five cameras for my wife’s business as well as our home to make sure everything is monitored and protected. I installed large SD cards to ensure I can look back at all the video and relied on this application to provide accurate. Live video data as well. The fact that you don’t subscribe to their cloud service, which by the way, makes zero sense if you have a large SD card installed is ridiculous. These ads are beyond atrocious and for them to be on a security app shows that they do not care about security, they care about getting as much money from you for their cloud service, which by the way I have never used or accessed once due to the SD cards. They need to push an update to the app to remove all these ridiculous ads and stop that limited live time view. I’m gonna be searching out a different company that value security first and add revenue last. I spent a lot of money purchasing these cameras and then re-purchasing updated models based on new features and better video quality that was promised. This is a warning to anyone if you have their camera throw it away go with a different company.
