   This app employs a manipulative design choice that leverages what’s known as a “pay loop” psychology. When you’re presented with the subscription window and see the “X” in the upper left corner, it creates the illusion that you’re able to bypass the payment option and continue using the service. However, this is an intentional psychological trap—once you try to dismiss it, you’re kept in a cycle where the app continuously brings you back to the same point, forcing you into a position where you’re psychologically inclined to accept one of the paid plans. As a former developer in Silicon Valley, I can say with certainty that this is a deliberate tactic designed to manipulate users into paying without offering a real alternative. It’s insidious, creating a false sense of choice while actually offering none.

2. 1/5If an app asks for a review BEFORE you can test it out…DO NOT BUY!!!

   If I could give a HALF star, I would. I downloaded the app, and was IMMEDIATELY asked for a review…NO trial run, AND I had to PAY UP FRONT…now, I don’t mind paying, but at LEAST let me test it to see if I like the app first…NOPE. So I pay, ($40!!!) make 2 (TWO! One, TWO!) things: I had it generate an anime image of a photograph, and also an image of a ‘Funko Pop’ figure, also from a photograph. CORRECTION: 3 (THREE! One, two, THREE!) things, I also had it attempt to generate a video of me with tattoos. All of this in the space of 10 minutes…I tried to make another video and image, and I was hit with : “you’ve reached your limit, but you can BUY more videos for more money”. I’m thinking: I just PAID YOU FORTY DOLLARS for the PREMIUM SUBSRRIPTION, WHY are you asking for more money. Unacceptable. Subscription IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED. So, please take note: if an app FORCES you to REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE BEFORE you can even test it out, then charges you A LA CARTE for something you just paid for…DO NOT BUY IT. Now I know why there was just ONE review…I’m not even sure THAT one is even true…I don’t mind spending money, but I absolutely HATE getting blatantly RIPPED OFF…they’re not even trying to hide it…sheesh…and DON’T ask…I will NOT TAKE THIS DOWN. I want my Forty dollars back.

   Hula has become a disappointing platform for many users, especially those who have subscribed to its premium service. Upon paying for the premium subscription, customers are led to believe they will have full access to video content without limitations. However, shortly after downloading just one video, users are suddenly prompted to pay additional fees for each subsequent video they wish to access. This bait-and-switch tactic not only feels deceptive but also gives the impression that the platform is intentionally designed to trap users into continuous payments beyond the original subscription fee. To make matters worse, Hula’s customer service is virtually nonexistent when users seek help or clarification. Emails and support requests often go unanswered, and there’s no clear resolution process for refund claims or complaints. The lack of transparency and support leaves many customers feeling scammed and frustrated, especially after investing their money with the expectation of a reliable premium experience. The combination of misleading pricing practices and terrible customer support has damaged trust and left many regretting their decision to subscribe.

   I like to play with images. But beyond providing one with some pretty average AI images, the problem with this app is that I had to pay a year in advance before I even tried it, and then I realized that was only to get me in the app. I also had to pay for packages within the app. The paying never ends! Also, as far as the images go, it can’t get me quite right. I’m a plus size woman, but not super plus size, so it either wanted to make me super skinny, or very plus size (but only in one of the *very* few plus sized packages). Also, I’m 59, but a young 59. I have short, white hair. AI kept wanting to make me blonde with longer hair. It also sometimes wanted to make me look much older. I could adjust this through the AI but sometimes it took quite a bit of playing with before it worked for me. I would not recommend this app. I wish I’d never downloaded it. It was a waste of my money. According to the terms and conditions, no refunds, so I’ll never get my money back. So, no company accountability.

   You subscribe to this app and then you can’t alACTUALLY make videos without paying more money for every single video. You’re just paying for nothing unless you like the idea of subscribing to gain the ability to pay each time you make a 5-10 second little video. I feel so, stupid and taken advantage of…this is the same as stealing. I asked for my money back and I doubt they will honor my request because they designed the app scam ppl into thinking u can subscribe and then make videos but, you can’t. Not without giving zMORE AND MORE MONEY. These kinds of apps should be illegal and I don’t understand why Apple allows these things on here…I assume it’s bc they confuse capitalism with making thievery acceptable…just please, save your money and just set it on fire. Video tape that…it’ll be worth a lot more. I give this app zero stars bc it’s not an app as much as just a scam do, yeah zero stars and a lot of regrets. Well, it wouldn’t let me give zero stars…I had to give it one to submit this review but, that is not my true rating. Zero stars.

   Beware!!! I subscribed weekly but then when I went to create something it wanted me to buy coins so it's asking me to pay twice. I understand the logic behind ads or paying for apps but your charging for a subscription and for each project your charging again! you shouldn't cuarge twice!

   The video editing quality is amazing when it works. Sometimes the AI does not recognize the male/female from the two portraits that are uploaded, even if the male has a goatee and the female has long hair. Also, I paid for a $30 annual subscription, but then discovered that I am still limited in how many edits I can create based on how many "coins" are in my account. You must purchase more coins for $10+. I only created 3 video clips before I was prompted to purchase more coins to continue.
