1. 3/5Medication Frequency and Can’t Pair Dexcom G6

   It would be helpful if you could add weekly to the frequency for medication. I have two diabetic medications that are taken weekly, not once or more per day. I’ve tried multiple times to pair my Dexcom with Glucose Buddy only to become increasingly frustrated. The app says it pairs easily with CGMs, so I’m not sure what the issue is. I’ve followed Glucose Buddy’s self help to no avail. When I select Dexcom in Glucose Buddy’s app I receive the following error, including after following the “helpful tips”, “ The client application is not known or is not authorized.” Part of the appeal of Glucose Buddy was that I could sync my Dexcom. My Dexcom is synced with Health, but Health only updates my Dexcom data every three hours. Posting my glucose every three hours is ineffective and minimizes the usefulness of Glucose Buddy.

2. 3/5Great app, has been essential, BUT

   This is great and helpful and has been essential in my 4 1/2 year, diabetic journey. I do suggest it but also suggest looking for something else. Occasionally this app gets bug fix updates although even that is rare. In fairness the app has always been VERY stable. There was an issue once and it was fixed in very quickly. It’s missing a number of things. For example when I add a medicine you are asked how often you take it. You can pick once a day to six times a day. Where is the option for “X” times a week or month. You also need to include the medicine’s unit. There is no option for ml. Many people pay for this app. No major features have been added to the app in a long time. How about a some widgets and an Apple Watch app? I’m not sure I have a reason to use this app. There are others out there that can track your BG and meds for free including the built in Apple Health app. This app does offer some other features and if you use them regularly that’s fantastic. I don’t so why am I paying for this? I also don’t use their monitor I use what’s covered by my health insurance.

   I finally upgraded to the premium version, expecting so much more. I am not able to add items with a title/label and its nutritional values. The database is pretty much nonexistent. Every barcode I scan is not found in the database and unlike other apps, you cannot add it, which tells me the database will continue to fall short of other apps like fitness pal, Omada, heck, just about every other app I’ve used. If I enter an item’s nutritional info, o cannot label the item. I reached out to tech support and never heard back. This was a feature I expected to be there when I upgraded. While i can track my glucose levels, the substandard food database makes the app practically useless for me since I’m still having to use other apps to log my foods and those do not log my glucose levels. This app was a complete waste of money for me. I’m still searching for an app that has a great food database, tracks nutritional information I need, as well as my glucose levels. Still searching and out money for this app. Sad.

   Great App, simple and easy to use, great way to keep track of blood sugar readings in an easily understandably format. Plus can email results directly to Dr, cutting down on time consuming expensive visits. Only two things keeps it from a Five Star Rating, wish would add capability for two separate accounts, so could keep track of my wife's readings all in one App, and it's a small nitpicking thing, wish you would add another "Fasting" category with it's own color. My Dr is mainly interested in my "Fasting" readings, and I can only list "Out of Bed" or "Before Breakfast", which show up with the same colors as "Other" or "Before Meals", causing some confusion and time consuming research to separate them. Add those capabilities, and you've really got a winner.

5. 1/5I Used To Love This App

   I have used Glucose Buddy for several years and loved it! It was so helpful to me, that I shared it with my diabetic health care team, in hopes they could let other patients no how it helped me. That is no longer the case! Version 5 of Glucose Buddy was released during the fall of 2017 and the App (in my opinion) was ruined. First, the data entry screen no longer fits on the screen of my mobile device. Some of the selections are barely visible. Second are the incessant and annoying pop-up ads that make viewing the App’s screens very difficult. Finally are the high pressure ads to subscribe to the premium version of Glucose Buddy for a fee of $60 per year. Many of the most helpful features of Glucose Buddy are only available with a premium subscription, which I’m unwilling to pay. If you ignore the reviews of the pre-version 5 Glucose Buddy you can see the ratings drop from 4 & 5 stars to 1, 2 & 3 stars. (check for your self) I can no longer recommend Glucose Buddy to others.
