3/5Latest update removed beloved feature
Version 6.13.0 no longer shows little pictures of the food you’re adding. Please, please, please restore the little pictures of each food. They make it so much easier to see at a glance what you’ve eaten. Also, food logging in version 6.13.0 seems to not be compatible with earlier food entries. This is an inconvenience for heavy users. A more thoughtful upgrade path, which provided for converting old food entries such that it appeared for all intents and purposes that they had been entered using the latest version, should have been created. If I weren’t locked in to Glooko because my health system uses it to see all diabetic events in one place, I would switch from Glooko over this apparent disregard for continuity of experience between upgrades.

1/5Update is horrible
The recent update has made this app unusable and beyond frustrating. It is harder to navigate, records data is a less friendly format (for example you cannot create a meal with a food item and then a manual addition of cabs. Those are recorded as separate meals). You can also not set up a meal and input it for a future time. This is critical for children going to school so the nurse can have the snack and lunch breakdown. Instead I now have to input that meal/snack at whatever random time I enter it into the app and send a sticky note explaining what past meal date/time is should be used. This update made this app pretty useless for us. We are better off using another carb calculating app and manually tracking in the notes app. I don’t think anyone who actually uses this app had input on the update because if they did there is no way this would have been redesigned this poorly.

1/5Updated review
UPDATE November 2025: The app updated yesterday. I'm okay with change but don't like these. * The old version had a populated foods list but this one has NOTHING. *As I add something to a meal the item populates so I can use it later, but why should you have to rebuild the list? *I had a few custom foods but those have disappeared - and I don't recall what they were so I don't know if I can get them back! *Changing the quantity or serving size is a bit tedious. *The old version let you enter carbs for a miscellaneous item - THAT has disappeared, so I can't record it. I take my insulin about 15 minutes before I eat but I can't select a future time! Glooko was not my first choice for a tracker but I switched to it when I started on Omnipod - I was never crazy about it but got used to it, if grudgingly. THIS is bottom of the barrel. What were they thinking??? ******* I had been having issues with getting a blank screen when I opened the app - I had to remove it and reinstall, which was a huge pain. I need to count my carbs to determine how much insulin to take 15 minutes prior to eating, and this ate into that time. Okay, maybe not a huge amount but still it was a huge annoyance. I got a message from Glooko that the issue has been resolved, and due enough I have not had the problem for several days. Fingers crossed it lasts. Three stars for now.

1/5New Update Issues.
I really liked the previous version. I hated having to build my list of favorite foods again. And like another review, I don’t like that you can’t just add miscellaneous carbs after you’ve started listing foods for your meal. However, my biggest complaint is the time it takes for the words to populate after I type them. It’s ridiculous. I type an entry and after the first letter (which stays selected (large)) it takes about 20 seconds or more to fill in the food. Then the next entry is exactly the same. I contacted support and they said to uninstall and reinstall the app, which I did. It made no difference whatsoever. I can understand an update to be compatible with more devices, but why change all of the other features that worked perfectly well. I sure hope they resolve this issue quickly, or I will find another app to use. This one takes too long to record entries.

4/5Great diabetes app for Type 1. Missing Apple Health Integration
Pros: -Easy to read graphs. -Easy to enter information quickly without extra clicks. -Excellent reports on website. Allows entry of custom medications such as Symlin, GLP-1, etc. -Data export feature (however this could be better; I have to select the email option and then grab the file from an email rather than export directly). -Pleasing color scheme. -Reminders for medication -Displays average BG and insulin over various periods of time. -Syncs with Strava for exercise data! -Fast load without the extra useless eye candy of other diabetes management apps. Cons: -Does not write to Apple Health unless you have a CGM. For finger stick people, neither glucose nor insulin injections export to Apple Health. -Does not import food data from 3rd party apps. PLEASE PLEASE add this! This will bump to 5 stars! Either a sync with Cronometer or a read from Apple Health will do (Cronometer writes carbs, protein, and fat to Apple health). If you read carbs, fat, or protein from Apple Health, then effectively you have added sync from other popular food trackers such as myfitnesspal. -Export of CSV only vía email is a bit klunky, though it works. -Cannot remove bad data. If you have sugar on your finger or use a strip to test to make sure it is really Diet Coke that the waiter brought you, those readings cannot be removed from your database - and mess up your charts.
