1. 4/5Great (for several years) tho needs to take feedback

   I have been using (and paying for) this app — both on iPhone and web for years — and absolutely love it. I regularly email the tech support team for suggestions on how to improve the user experience and simple features that would make it a 5-star product. Unfortunately that’s where Contacts+ comes up short. They response is always the same — a pre formatted email saying they will pass on the idea to tech team. Either the tech team doesn’t exist or never gets it. Sad. But it’s still a great product that could be improve to amazing by listening to customer feedback and suggestions.

2. 1/5Crappy business model

   First of all, i love this software and its features but i hate the way they evolved the software and their business model over time. They used to support one time pay with no ads and no limits on number of contacts to sync to one sync source. I am a great fan of buying software which support single time payment and I did so. This software worked until they made some stupid decision (not to support one time way users and break the promise made to their customers in terms of the features their software would provide to one time pay customers). Due to this crappy change, none of the features listed above work anymore and they force customers who complain to go for subscription based model. Are you guys insane? May be make the newer versions work the way you want and let the older versions continue to work they used to. I do not want to teach these guys how to model their upgrades and how to provide good customer obsession. They don’t care if the changes breaks customers and all they want is to monetize the product they built. Every company is looking at monetization in the end and I don’t disagree, but you can’t ditch your customers. So i am sharing my story so others can learn about this company before spending their precious money on their products.

3. 1/5BEWARE: App corrupts your contacts information

   I am a power user who has been using a Mac since 1984. I’ve worked as an interaction designer at Apple, FileMaker (née Claris), Palm, and Yahoo! And I’m a perfectionist who expects apps that are managing *MY* data (and there’s nothing more personal that your contacts) to respect its integrity, not corrupt it. Many years ago, I used to use Full Contact (the predecessor to Contacts+) and loved it, but somewhere along the way, the developer decided to eschew the coreID Apple-sanctioned way of organizing contact information and go with their own proprietary structure (or maybe it’s the other way around, but I know that the Apple-sanctioned field structure is well-documented and other developers have managed to use it successfully). For whatever reason, Contacts+ consistently screws up my contacts: creating duplicates that are missing information, overwriting existing correct data, loosing contact photos, etc. I made the mistake of trying C+ one more time, and—no surprise—I once again have a mess of missing and corrupted data staring me in the face. I should’a known better. FORTUNATELY, I also use the FANTASTIC BusyContacts (from BusyMac, also the developers of the equally awesome BusyCal). Both these apps automatically create a user-configureable number of daily backups, so I can restore the sanity that my contacts used to enjoy and be a happy camper again. Use the Contacts + iOS app at your own risk. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

4. 1/5So, so sad. This *used to* be a great app

   Unfortunately, my favorite app has been completely destroyed and I will have no choice but to cancel my paid subscription with ContactsPlus. My contacts are a MESS - suddenly, out of nowhere. Many of my contacts have been changed and now include inaccurate information from their crappy AI. This app used to be AWESOME and I was happy to pay $100 per year for the convenience of syncing my contacts across multiple platforms, maintaining a separate address book for my team and for personal use, and the (what used to be) super smart AI which provided suggestions for contact details as scraped from across the internet. Today, my contacts are a complete mess. Contact information data is mixed up and inaccurately merged with other contacts, I have contacts missing, important contact call notes are gone too. Just unacceptable. Not to mention the damage done to ALL of my address books. Google Contacts and iCloud Contacts are synced with my ContactsPlus address book. It would be one thing if only my ContactsPlus contacts were messed up, but this app made SURE to sync the inaccuracies across ALL my address books and contacts lists. This is SUCH A SHAME. WHY DID YOU KILL SUCH A BEAUTIFUL THING? Why?! To you, ContactsPlus, I bid farewell. I’m taking my money elsewhere and will no longer recommend ContactsPlus to anyone ever again. Shame on you guys.

   This app is equally thrilling and frustrating. The iOS version presents updates with LinkedIn references that cannot be verified as presented. On the web, the suggested updates are clickable and can be validated whereas on iOS, I have to manually form a URL to see if the recommend LinkedIn profile is a match. I’ve put Cardhop, contacts+, iCloud and busycontacts (no iOS version) on my laptop and find contacts+ does not keep up with changes in real time with the others. I’ve even done updates in Contacts+ iOS that do not show on contacts+ web. Contacts+ also does not support maiden names as the others do. I like that it is scrubbing my system for updates, but it needs to be easier to validate and react in realtime.
