1. 5/5Content Rich Christian App that Everyone Needs

   The Canon+ app pours forth top-notch audio and video content that cannot be beat. This includes topics like theology, Christian living, education, entertainment, history, and news commentary in the form of videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and sermons. There is so much new content being added every week that it would be impossible to go through all of it. I have been using Canon+ for about nine months now, and it is by far my most used app. I have reaped huge benefits in the effect it has had on my life and family. With so much great content I would like to see the app get some new clothes that better fit after it’s growth spurts (I.e. improvements). The search feature could use some improvements so that one could search by title, description, author, or a combination of those. Goodness, someone could easily get lost in there without dropping a trail of breadcrumbs! Along similar lines the home page needs to be revamped some with a menu bar to find common categories. If I want to see content from the biggest contributors then I have to scroll way down to find the likes of Doug Wilson, Jared Longshore, Voddie Baucham, and such. Those guys are gutting tired of holding all that weight! To those on the fence just try it for a month and see what you think. And I mean ACTUALLY USE IT. Don’t just let it sit idle and wonder why you are getting charges from Apple two months later. When you do let me point you to some of the shining gems that you don’t want to miss: Blog and Mablog, It’s Good to Be a Man, Stories are Soul Food, Notes from the Tilt-A-Whirl, Man Rampant, Future Men, and the ever whitty Wade Show with Wade. If you like fiction then you must listen to The Green Ember series. Sure it’s children’s fiction with bunnies but S.D. Smith does a marvelous job with it and the narration is superb. I could say much more but, why are you still reading this? The the app!

2. 3/5Great content, but app needs work.

   Every bit of content I've checked out has been phenomenal. So far, "Notes From the Tilt-a-Whirl" audio book has been my favorite. If I could rate separate categories, content would get five stars. Unfortunately, the app leaves a bit to be desired. The biggest drawback is that your place in videos and audiobooks is not saved when you leave the app. That means you have to remember about where you were and manually search for your place. It's particularly difficult for the audiobooks because they aren't broken up into chapters in the conventional way. Each chapter is not it's own track. There is one continuous track but the timer resets to zero at each chapter break. Unless this bug is fixed, I wouldn't pay a subscription for access to this content.

3. 3/5Awesome! But please make some changes...

   Content is spectacular. Supporting this ministry directly by supporting Canon Press’s own platform is very smart in our day and age. Content I give 5 stars. Critiques: The layout is a bit confusing. It is hard to navigate and find the content I want. Also a HUGE issue is not being able to save my progress when listening to an item (lecture or book). I have to manually write down the time stamp of where I left off and even then, scrubbing precisely through something on this app is very sloppy. Please understand these issues are a BIG problem that are significant barriers to users being able to enjoy the content. For these reasons only I am giving it 3 stars.

4. 4/55-star Content, 4-star Player

   I love the content and have found the monthly fee to be a great value to all this wisdom at my fingertips! I enjoy being able to try out books that I might not otherwise know about or want to buy individually. My walk with the Lord has improved so much from the ministry of the Wilsons and their kids. I read my Bible more, serve my family better and have a deeper understanding of how to live out my faith in the ways God has called me. I do find the in-app player to be glitchy. This is not Audible. It doesn’t always save my spot and there’s no way to keep track of your progress through a book aside from trying to remember (or screenshot) the time stamp from when you left off (no chapter selection or bookmark options), just one long audio clip. It isn’t intuitive to me that the “In Progress” section is two or three sections down, and it doesn’t always save the books you’re in the middle of, so sometimes you have to hunt for them. When I do finally find my way back to the book I was last listening to and hit play, it doesn’t play right away. I did finally figure out that it just takes an unexpectedly long time to start playing, so you have to wait. I used to pause and restart it and close and reopen it etc but finally realized I just need to wait for the awkward silence to pass. It’s really only around 10 seconds but it’s long enough that you think something went wrong. All of this is not really a big deal, I am writing this mostly as feedback for the developers. The content is what the app is about and the content is great, just have to get used to the nuances of the app.

5. 5/5Relevant for our time

   I have found more relevant content from cannon press and Doug Wilson than any other Christian ministry at the moment. The topics Being discussed on this app, and the clear preaching of Doug Wilson have settled issues of eschatology, Baptism, and given me tools, and a clear and motivated realization of my responsibilities and duties as a man. I wish I would of known these things ten years ago. I have to repent often listening to they're content. If your serious about growing your understanding this apps for you. Sadly all the Taboo issues that I could never get a clear answer from the men at church seem to be getting addressed here. Highly recommend.
