1. 5/5My go-to for streaming

   I cannot believe there are so few reviews on here. I have been using Vidangel for the past few years. There are some hiccups now and then with the app losing verification with streaming services but nothing that is too inconvenient. It’s our families go-to for watching most streaming content. The app does not have licensing for HBO or Disney products but I don’t miss those shows anyway. There’s plenty of good content available to choose from and they are frequently uploading new content to view. The process is easy to set up, you can set broad filters to remove all of a specific content you want filtered and also manage individual filters as well if you want to allow certain filters for a specific movie. So easy and so seamless, you can hardly tell when something was removed. Anyway, just wanted to give a recent review since there doesn’t seem to be any on here. I recommend Vidangel to all my family and friends. It’s worth it.

2. 1/5Don’t recommend!

   I signed up through the app and canceled. Their app and website are apparently two different platforms that don’t coincide. So if you cancel make sure you cancel on the website too or they will keep taking your money. Even if the subscription says canceled in the App. I contacted customer service to get some help to remedy the situation and their agent(Ben) was no help. Not once did he make an effort to explained to me how to cancel on the website or refund my money. Just keep blaming me. Make sure that when you cancel on the website you scroll all the way to the bottom because their app is misleading and you have to confirm like 50 times to actually get the service canceled. Very disappointing experience. At least from my interaction with customer service Vidangel doesn’t care to help. They are happy to take your money and make you jump through all the hoops to cancel. I paid for 5 months because the app and website don’t sync up to cancel your subscription and the best this rude agent could do was say I’ll give you a couple months credits. Thanks but no thanks! Don’t use this service not worth the hassle to deal with customer service or their lack their of.

3. 3/5LOVE the heart, hate the app

   I hate to give anything but a five star review here. So much about this company deserves five stars - the very idea, the selection of movies, the social media posts, etc. Please, please keep improving. You’re doing awesome! However, the app itself has alot frustrations. I understand it might also be because the streaming platforms don’t make it easy on them. But the app doesn’t remember where you are in as you watch the movie. As soon as the device screen goes dark, you have to reopen app, find the movie again, reconnect to chromecast, wait for it to connect, all to just pause the movie if your kids walk in and ask a question. If the electricity goes, or it disconnects for whatever reason, it doesn’t remember where you are and you have to do all previous and then figure that out. If you need close captions, which we use on all other apps because ADHD, they are SO DELAYED to the actual audio, like 2-3 minutes by half way through the movie, it’s just pointless. So, I’ll never cancel if I can help it. I want to support the project. But please keep working on app support. Such a great idea and so very frustrating to use. Keep working. You can do it!

4. 3/5Great website, needs work!

   I emailed support about some issues I encountered with a movie; it seems the movie was incorrectly filed under the wrong filter, and I ended up seeing nudity. This has never happened before. The support team was polite and said they would forward my concern to their tech department. However, when I checked back a few days later, nothing had changed. It felt like they were just brushing me off and saying whatever to get me to go away. Now, I don’t trust that the filters are accurate. I’ve had similar issues with other movies in the past but didn’t speak up until it became too graphic to ignore. Now, I feel like I’m paying for a service that is inconsistent. If Netflix made these kinds of mistakes, there would be an uproar. VidAngel has the potential to be like Netflix or other streaming platforms, but for those of us paying a monthly subscription, our concerns should be addressed seriously. If they need to raise prices slightly to resolve these issues, I’d be willing to pay more to ensure the content is properly filtered. I understand mistakes happen, but how they handle these situations is crucial. I’ll definitely update my review once I see some improvements.

5. 5/5Such a blessing!

   Even children’s movies have bad language or inappropriate sexual references at times, so this app has been a God send for our family! We don’t want to hear cursing or see nudity or half nudity in our faces constantly so being able to filter things out so we can enjoy watching all the shows and movies on Netflix, prime, paramount, etc. I also love how you can go in a uncheck scene by scene so if something was filtered that you didn’t want to be filtered, you can customize it episode by episode or movie by movie, and you can have your general filters that run across everything. It’s such a wonderful app that has only continued to improve! I recommend it to all of my brothers and sisters in Christ, or to anyone that is tired of the constant debauchery in shows and movies today. Thank you, team at VidAngel, for your wonderful service! We will always be subscribers!
