  1. 5/5Amazing, but unsure if it will continue to be updated

Am a bit more than halfway through walking the Caminho Portugues da Costa and this has been basically the only app I have used to plan my journey, get ideas for hostels to stay at along the way, etc. Has been absolutely invaluable and provided all of the information I need, including a very exact map that provided a couple of alternative routings that take you through more shaded/scenic routes than the official Camino, which has been great especially with a few very hot days of walking so far. However, unsure if the app will continue to be updated as the developer, Andy Max Jensen, tragically passed away while walking the Camino about a month ago. Huge loss for the Camino community, and forever grateful to him for providing such a fantastic, free resource. May he rest.

  2. 5/5Essential

I just came back from walking the Camino, and I want to share how truly useful this app was for me. I was traveling alone, and it saved me from getting lost several times, helping me find my way back to the right path. It also helped me plan my hostels and decide how far I wanted to walk each day. I met two ladies who were also walking, and I taught them how to use the app — they still keep in touch with me and often say how thankful they are that I introduced it to them. I’m truly grateful to the person who developed this app and made it free for all of us. I hope the universe rewards you in the same generous way.

  3. 4/5First time walker

The app was very helpful for planning our pilgrimage. We were easily able to determine the town we wanted to walk to and where to stay. Overall I recommend the app. Some areas of improvement, the mileage seemed to start from the center of town you started in to the center of town you ended in, I would have also liked the distance from albergue to albergue. It would have been more useful data during planning. Moving through the app could be clunky, if I wanted to see the elevation I had to back out of the map to open it. Rather than showing the current day on top you had to scroll down to it each time you opened the app. The pricing for a nights stay at the different albergues was outdated.

  4. 5/5Indispensable and getting even better

When I walked my last Camino in spring 2026 Camino Ninja was an indispensable aid. This app helped me plan my stages and its support for multiple plans enabled me to try different staging options. I really liked the ability to choose and display where I would stay in each town. The app’s data is frequently updated which gave me confidence I was seeing current not outdated information. And the development team is constantly adding more routes and many more helpful features. I would not walk a Camino without Camino Ninja. Highly recommended.

  5. 5/5Simply the best.

I absolutely love this app! Myself, my wife and my 3 teenagers all walk the Camino together. We often were separated, and I had full confidence that using this app everyone could make great decisions about their hike. It was really useful to know what was coming up next and whether or not there would be amenities that suited our needs. There were a couple of times where we misread signs and got off route. Because the app showed our exact location and the exact location of the route. It made it easy to get back on track. There was never any fear of being lost. We tried multiple apps and this is the only app we needed. We are headed back to do the Camino again next year and this is the only app we will use.
