   I’ve been with American Family for over 35 years. Why? Because they’re the best. Look, in this day and age you have to have insurance. That’s a given. Within this world, American Family stands out. I’ll tell you why. I’ve had a few claims over the years. One was a tragedy, the other a minor inconvenience. During my tragic event, they took care of everything. While I was grieving, I barely even knew they were paying out tens of thousands of dollars in hospital costs. Very classy. In another event, our car got side swiped while parked. Though the damage was minor, literally every panel on the side was damaged. It was costly. The other driver has insurance with the worst rated company in Illinois. Again, American Family took care of us. We had to pay the deductible but that’s what we signed up for. A couple of years later the professional team at AmFam took the other company to court. We’re got our deductible back. The lawyer was very professional as well. Cheaper than the big guys but with customer service that can’t be beat, I have nothing but good things to say about American Family. They have stood by us over the years. I have had three agents, and I love dealing with this company. They’re straight shooters. They’re a Wisconsin company, maybe it’s Midwestern values. That’s it. Am I gushing? Maybe. I’m not paid by them. This is an honest review. They just took care of me. Oh and this app is one that I like having on my phone. So that’s my app review 🙂.

2. 1/5Quite Possibly the Worst App/Support I’ve Ever Encountered

   I’ve called AmFam numerous times and have another open ticket with them regarding this issue. I don’t think anyone works in their IT dept. For months now, my app has not worked. No policies show up. I have 3 active policies. I call support and they give me the run around. One day after calling AGAIN about my policies not showing, someone canceled my autopay causing me to lose my autopay discount. I received a letter stating my policy was not paid and would be canceled. Also charged me a $10 fee when I did pay! Why was my autopay deleted? Who did this? Why is it so hard to have my policies show up in the app and online? I can’t see any policy docs, insurance cards, etc. I can’t even add my address and phone to my profile. Why, why, why is it so hard for this to be fixed? I have little faith in amfam at this point. I’ve been with the company for many years but this is ridiculous enough that I’m considering a change. I just want to see my policies, cards and most importantly - BILLING AND PAYMENTS since someone there is randomly canceling autopay. It makes me nervous that I’m not even covered. But I can’t see that because the app won’t load my policies! I’m using an up-to-date iPhone 16 Pro, so please don’t tell me it’s my phone. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app already, also.

3. 1/5Password reset does NOT function

   I have requested a password reset link several times. I have successfully logged into the app for years using my current credentials. I use a sophisticated password manager to store the password, two password managers actually. I periodically update my passwords for security purposes. The passwords are always stored in the password managers properly. I document this in a note pad function of the password managers. All of a sudden, my homeowners insurance jumped several thousand dollars without notice. I have been blocked from the app and the online system for over a week now. I understand insurance can go up but I would at least like to see what caused the increase. No luck at all. I’m gonna file a complaint with the division of insurance about this. I’m going to contact an attorney about this. I understand insurance premiums can rise., But I feel like there is something nefarious going on in that I can’t access my account or get password reset links. In AmFams defense, I did receive one password reset link several hours after I requested it.. But the catch is, the link is only good for 10 minutes. Again, is there something nefarious happening? Or are the app developers and web developers for this company just inept? It sounds like a class action suit brewing!

   Brian Bender is a class act and represents his business and Clients top notch every time. American Family does what no other insurance company has personal sales rep that reminds me when premiums are do and helps me in every way to jeep me insured. Had a Claim while I was in Michigan deer accident. Michigan is not a state Am fam does not carry insurance for. Because if my seasonal jobs I was able to continue with ND insurance and the settlement was quick without hassle to cover the accident. The reimbursement was fair and speedy with no inconvenience to me. I appreciate Brian Bender of Bender agency in Harvey ND he always has gone above and beyond to get me the best rates and inform me of the added coverages i could get to guarantee I get the best bang for my buck. I hope to be able to stay with them and continue employment in ND while working out of my home state and while visiting my home on layoffs in Michigan. Best service I've ever had from an auto insurance company.

5. 1/5Decades long customer’s review

   Have had AmFam for decades now. Thought it was great company. My mother and father purchased this insurance. Two months ago, had issue. They told us all will be okay. We have rental reimbursement and total coverage. Do NOT get this insurance. They rob you and leave you when you need help the most. Have been turned around and around and lied to by their company. You call and make sure about your coverage and they tell you to do this and that. You do it then they refuse to cover what you paid for and they told you that YOU and your FAMILY have. Has been over 2 months. No fixing of car. No loss check. Where is our car? Unknown. Harassing statements about they won’t do this or that. My mother is senior citizen. This is absolutely criminal of them and they refuse to do anything else. They claim we are the problem. They are criminals and scammers robbing senior citizens and family. They are not BBB accredited and it shows. Try Progressive, GEICO, AAA or any other insurance before you get lied to, taken advantage of, and screwed. Couldn’t take my mother to Church today because of their lies. Horrible app. Horrific insurance company.
