  1. 5/5New ADT user

You have to realize I have my own camera system set up and I’m already using a Ring doorbell. I got a deal through my home insurance to get the equipment etc. at a cut rate. There was already an old ADT system in the building that didn’t work. The installer was a really friendly guy. I didn’t really have that much to install, I didn’t need the cameras and I didn’t need the doorbell. So I needed a bunch of motion detectors, flood detectors, door detectors, and window detectors. Given that, for the week that I’ve been using it, it does exactly what it supposed to do. I can arm it for when I’m away I can arm it for I’m at when I’m home. The fact that I can’t hit a panic button when I have my cell phone is probably a good idea, considering I can accidentally jiggle my phone and hit the button. Having used home automation for a long time, you can’t expect seamless integration between different platforms anyway. You have to give them credit, they could’ve completely fallen off the map but there seems to be some effort put into making this a functional system. It’s clear that they are not riding the newest wave of app security systems, but that’s not what I needed and it does exactly what I wanted it to do.

  2. 4/5App isn’t working properly for me

So I just got a system upgrade. The tech installer did a good job with installation, but when I open the app I only see the logo. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it to see if it would sort itself out but it’s still not working properly to no avail. So I logged in online and it’s the same issue online as well unfortunately. I really want to love this but right now I’m a little disappointed and mildly frustrated. I know technology can be fickle but a new install/upgrade shouldn’t be presenting such problems that I’m having. The whole purpose of me upgrading my system at the church was to be able to operate or system remotely if need be. So at this moment I have to give it one star until this issue is rectified. Like I mentioned, my sole purpose for upgrading or system was to be able to operate it remotely but I currently don’t have that functionality still even with the cost of upgrading my system. *UPDATE* After many days of going back and forth with the technician and customer service, I was finally able to get in touch with someone to take care of the issue. It was simply a matter of them updating our services in the ADT system to give us access to the app and its remote functions. I’m glad it’s behind me now but this is definitely something that should’ve been resolved within minutes of discovery while the technician was installing the BA. However everything is good now I’ll bump it up to 4 stars only because it took a week for my issue to get resolved in literally 2mins. I’m no longer upset but this was a technician error that could’ve been resolved easily. Other than that I’m happy with my upgrade, now I’m waiting for my cameras.

  3. 1/5Terrible service

Holy flipping cow! Please don’t EVER use ADT as your home security company. If I could give it 0 stars I would. They improperly installed our system. The security system would not allow us to arm it due to a door being ajar which was not ajar. We have yet to even arm the thing. I contacted ADT today after 2 false fire alarms went off and ADT contacting my husband. I requested a refund since the system has made us feel everything but secure. ADT refused our refund within the 60 days of having the system despite there being a “60 day money back guarantee”. ADT said that we needed a technician to come out and fix the issue prior to even considering a refund. We had someone come out and they wanted to charge us to repair an issue that the installation technition caused. He ended up “fixing” the problem for us free of charge by telling the company we cancelled the appt, but he actually fixed the issues. Within an hour of him leaving the system alarm was sounding off yet again for no reason with a fire alarm resulting in ADT calling my husband AGAIN who is at work. We decided to cancel our service and rather than try to make any of this right, ADT said that we could either have 2 months of “services” for free with a now no-cost-to-us technition to come out and “fix” our system or we could cancel and pay over $300 for canceling our contract with them. Mind you, November 17th we had ADT installed. It’s not like we had it for long.

  4. 1/5Very Disappointed

We had this system installed in June. The installer left us know information as to how to work this system. He put a camera on the front door which stopped working and about three months. I called the technician at ADT and she said it was the battery. I asked how to get the battery out so I could replace it. She told me to pry it off of the front door where it was installed. The technician that put this system in left us no key this technician that I was speaking to Person. Persson told me to get a flathead screwdriver and pry it off. I was very nervous about doing that. I was afraid I would break it so I called a local ADT person to come out. He said we did not have a battery camera. We had to charge the camera that was in we said, how do you do that he said you get your key. I said no one gave us a key. He took it out. We got all the wires plugged in so we could charge it now I have no idea how to look and see who is at my door because no instructions have been left. I am so disappointed in this company, he let the original technician us nothing no box as they described it once no key no instructions how to get the camera off anything. I have been very disappointed with the national company. The technician that came out was named Chris and he was very sympathetic and tried to help us, I still have no clue as to how to look at who is at my front door. I asked him if he had any instructions and he said he did not say I’m disappointed in this company is a great exaggeration. I dislike this company intensely because of the poor service.

  5. 1/5Very disappointed

Sad to say I’m not impressed with adt. For as much as you pay every month for their services you would think it would be better. When I first got the system activated I was told by the person who came out that I could set the cameras up to only record if the panel was armed took me months after starting the service in my name to realize they won’t record being set up that way, called customer service and no one had a clue what I was talking about or even how to fix the problem so my cameras have to stay active at all times and you only get 6,000 clips a month. Moved into this house with the system already set up and active in previous owners name and I still had to pay money to have it installed (which was already done) and money to activate (which was already active). You can’t just switch it into your name guess they need the money. I can’t watch any of the videos from the cameras on my phone without first restarting my phone, and that’s very annoying. I get notifications 3 hours after something triggered one of the cameras. Also I’ve been able to enter my house a few times without the alarm panel going off, that doesn’t give me and my family a piece of mind. Unfortunately I’m stuck with the service for another 2 years. Wish I would have done my research before taking over the contract of the previous home owners.
