   Living in a very small rural town, having AAA is the only safety net I have. I have had times that even AAA could not find a tow truck to come help me ( I had a 4 hour hour wait one night) I was in between everything, no town within 50 miles but dispatch continued to check in with me. Eventually they found someone an hour away that came to help me. It sounds bad but you need to know- I had NO ONE to call- it was 2am and without having AAA I don’t know what I would have done! They checked on me- they kept calling drivers trying to find me help / it was scary, and I’m older and was not in a place I could have gone for help. AAA can only do so much and as an older person in a rural area I know better than to not be proactive. That night it was a new ( to me) car and I had not set up my emergency kit. I have both winter and summer kits -winter is warm blanket, water, snacks, flares, emergency triangles and a few extra things- I always carry at least a days worth of my meds in my purse. Summer has needed things for unexpected breakdown. Every person ( especially seniors) should have these in their vehicle!! AAA will always be there to help you! But you need to help yourself too! Thank you AAA for keeping us safe and giving us one less thing to worry about!

   I have enjoyed my membership with your company, up until one of my most recent experiences. On June 15, 2025, I requested a tow at around 7:00pm that evening. I was anticipating a 45min up to an hour wait time for services to be rendered to me, but I didn’t receive services until 8:00am the NEXT MORNING, June 16, 2025. The app kept giving me updates that were not accurate at all. I did not get any sleep at all that night because I didn’t want to miss the call whenever the driver called to say that he was headed my way. The driver didn’t end up showing up until the next morning. I spoke with multiple customer service reps, and I specified to each of them, as well as my notes on the app that I wanted the driver to call me when he was 30min away so that I could ensure that I would be where my vehicle was with the key because I had to leave it where it was because you all didn’t show up. Needless to say, the driver wasn’t made aware. So, when he arrived he had to wait for someone to get there with the key before he could start the tow. That was the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had with you all and I’ve been a member with your company for a few years now. Aside from that ONE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, things have been good with being a member of your company. I do think you all need to hire more people closer to, if not actually in the Kankakee County area. Not having to wait an hour or more for services because no one is in our area to service the area faster.

   Marlys and I have been AAA Members since 1985. We have been using AAA Travel almost every year since 2000. Starr Ward is the AAA travel agent my wife met and then introduced to me. Our first trip was a last minute trip. There was another travel company that advertised fire sales on Wednesday for departure on Saturday. We listened to the add on Wednesday night and we decided we didn’t want to go to any of there destinations. Thursday morning my wife Marlys called AAA and talked to Starr Ward. She told Starr our situation and asked if she could help. She said she could and told us she would get back to us. She called back about 2 hours later and apologized that because the next was Valentines Day that she could only find 2 resorts we could go to. One was in Jamaica and The Dominican Republic. She said we needed to make a decision as soon as possible or they would be gone. We chose the Dominican Republic. Starr said okay and she would get back to us. About 4:00 PM on Thursday I called Starr and asked if we were going. Starr said we had the Victoria resort booked, but she didn’t yet have a flight. She said she would call us on Friday with the flight information. If I remember right she called about 1:00 in the afternoon on Friday and said we were leaving at 9:30AM Saturday morning to the Victoria Resort in the Dominican Republic. Since that trip we have used AAA and Starr for countless trips. Because of AAA and Starr our trips and any problems have gone smoothly. When Starr is out of the office she always leaves a phone number of someone else in the office who can help us. AAA is the travel company I turn to for all our travel. Gary and Marlys Hansen

   Very good for road side services. However, sometimes the dispatcher can get confused and then the time waiting gets longer and longer. The drivers suffer the consequences by having to listen to the member complaining about being told a time a tow truck is to arrive and then the driver has an issue by NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THERE ON TIME STATED. The tardiness is NOT HIS/HER FAULT. IT BELONGS TO THE DISPATCHERS. That’s my opinion. We were broke down near INDIAN LAKE OHIO, I called AAA and explained our situation (on side of VERY BUSY HIGHWAY), and was told a driver would be there in couple hours. Those hours came and went. Several more calls later, we were told the driver is on his way. When driver arrived approximately an hour and a half later he arrived. We talked on our way to our home which is an hour drive and he explained he was west of us near the the state line. Approximately 3-4 hour drive. Why AAA didn’t get a driver closer has never been explained to us. OVER ALL HAS GOOD DRIVERS. It’s the dispatchers who need more training. We had almost exact same situation about 3 years. When I read the above statement, I actually started thinking; when did I write this!!! Just tell us the truth about arrival times. Ours was on State Route 235.

5. 2/5AAA Drive!

   I use this app for the AAA Drive part. I was skeptical before trying it and rightly so, but figured it should be able to accurately monitor speeds and whether someone is on the phone or texting. Truly, that’s about all a phone app can do to monitor driving. But this app tries to monitor how smoothly you drive. How can it know what traffic is around you or why you may not drive so smoothly? It also monitors accelerating and braking. I have gotten dinged for “high accelerating” and for “medium braking” but I have no clue why. If I am pulling out onto a busy road that is 50 mph, I’m going to accelerate a little more than usual! Is this “high accelerating”? No! And “medium braking”? First, this is silly to ding for and second it seems random and inconsistent. Then there was the time I went to mail something at 10:30 pm and drove less than 10 minutes and got dinged for “fatigue”. The app doesn’t know what hours I work, what my normal awake hours are, or whether I just got up from a nap! It’s rating strictly on time of day (which without any context is meaningless) not even duration of the drive! And don’t even get me started on speed! I don’t speed. Period. Yet, in the short time I have been using the app, I have been dinged for that too and several times already! The app is inaccurate in SO many ways! I’m disappointed because AAA is a quality organization and this app is beneath them. In addition, I find myself aware of it far too much while I’m driving - so it’s a distraction that shouldn’t be there just like talking on the phone!
