Intent

Spoken words must become a file you can search later. Transcribing speech is audio in, editable text out — a meeting, a voice note, a lecture — not live captions glued to a stream you do not own, not a voice assistant that only answers aloud, and not OCR of a paper page. Speaker labels and an export are how the text leaves. Offline packs matter in a clinic. If the transcript vanishes when you close the player, you hired a caption overlay. A dictionary that types what you say one word at a time is not a recording you can replay. Accuracy claims without a language list are marketing.

What matters for this task

  • Can you keep and search the transcript after the audio ends?
  • Are speakers labelled, or is it one anonymous block?
  • Can you export the text without retyping?
  • Does a pack work without sending the recording to a cloud?
