1. 1/5Updated Review: It was great until Watch OS 10

   Oct 22nd 2023 Edit: It just dawned on me how badly this app was designed. When you are inside the app on your phone you can’t even see the list of recordings on your watch. You can send recordings to your watch but can’t see what’s on it or receive recordings from the watch when the phone app is the much more stable app. If I could give it zero stars I would. Problem still exists even if the watch & phone are connected to the same network. How did they miss this in ios 17 ? Edit 2: It can’t send recordings from the watch to the phone making it useless. Edit: I don’t know if the latest update fixed it for sure but after a few days it finally sent the recording to the phone. Other than that glaringly bad problem it always worked great. Assuming it is fixed correctly it’s a great app. I updated my iPhone 14 Pro to ios 17.1 and my Apple Watch 8 to 10.1 and now it can’t send audio recordings from the watch to the phone. The watch app gets stuck on Sending and the file never gets sent to the phone. If they fix it I will update my review.

   I wanted to provide some feedback regarding the Recorder Pro app. First and foremost, I must say that the features and functionalities provided by the app are quite impressive. It has greatly helped me in my day-to-day tasks and I am grateful for that. However, I would like to express my concern regarding the $100 annual subscription fee. While I understand the need for revenue to sustain the development and maintenance of the app, I believe that a one-time payment option for a reasonable price would have been more beneficial for users like me. Paying $100 each year feels quite expensive, considering that there could be alternative options available in the market. I truly value the services and convenience provided by Recorder Pro, and I believe many others would also be willing to invest in a more reasonably priced one-time payment option. This would not only attract more customers but also ensure their long-term satisfaction. Thank you for considering my feedback. I truly appreciate your effort in providing such a useful app, and I hope to see some positive changes in the payment plans in the future.

3. 2/5Free trial is a lie, no support, same old shortcomings

   First of all, this app cost $100 a year. It claims to have a three day trial. But it just immediately charges you for a year subscription. This is unbelievable. Incredibly there is NO SUPPORT for this EXPENSIVE product! Any indication of support is misdirection. You go to their site and there's absolutely no support links whatsoever or even an email. Under "Support" in the app and your options are "rate us", "share", and "other apps". The saddest part is this app could be very good if it wasn't ran sold as a total scam. In addition, the premium features like transcription don't even detect ends of sentences so you have to say "period" and "question mark". It's very very primitive. I give this two stars because the free features are actually not bad. As a recording tool it's pretty decent, but all of the premium features don't work right. Just stick with the free version and don't waste your money..

4. 1/5Bluetooth support removed for some reason

   I used this app for years for some audio journaling purposes. The thing I loved about it was, I could easily connect my AirPods and record through them over Bluetooth. This morning I was going for a morning walk and noticed that the Bluetooth button which has historically been right next to the record button has been removed. In place there’s a useless “effects” button. Apparently the developers thought that it’s more important that I can make myself sound like a bear or a minion or add echo to my voice then it is to be able to record over my AirPods. Can’t find Bluetooth support anywhere in app. This makes this app I’ve been using for years totally useless. Edit: actually realized the Bluetooth record function does still exist but went from being right next to the record button to being buried deep within the menu options to make way for the ability to make your voice sound like the minions. Worst ui downgrade in iOS development history. 1 star.

5. 5/5I really like the app’s ease of operation and quality of recordings

   I am a non-professional user. I record all kinds of things. For example, I am going to purchase a new PTAC (electric heating/cooling) unit. How noisy it is is important to me, so I just recorded the sound the fan makes on the GE unit we have in order to compare its sound level to that of other manufacturers' PTACs. The sound wave representation is very helpful in this comparison. I am very enthusiastic about its operation and think it will be an excellent recording tool. It is well designed and easy to use. The microphone pickup ability and the quality of the sound on the recordings is excellent. (Perhaps the credit belongs to my iPhone’s components.) The mic even picked up the buzz of the fluorescent light fixture and a running faucet 9 feet away, which disappeared when I turned them off. I have done editing successfully but have not tested the Transcription feature and Apple Watch interaction.
