  1. 3/5No Support For Broken App

I have my grievances with the algorithm still underreporting strain for functional fitness and always demanding I sleep 9 hours despite full recovery and more than enough restorative sleep at 7.5 hours. I disagree, but fine, I still find the data useful. What I can’t forgive is broken app features that ‘support’ says could be fixed by a future update so just make sure I keep my app up to date. ‘App settings’ tab redirects me to profile. Cannot access app settings, which is very frustrating because I continually need to edit HR zones based on the cardio modality I’m doing. I took a video of this glitch and sent to support after logging out/in, deleting and reinstalling the app, and did all the things. Support responds by saying, we’ve escalated this to our internal team for further investigation. I reached out for an update several days later and have not gotten a response. So firstly it seems when you reach out to support your not actually talking to a whoop agent as they’re self admittedly not a part of the internal team? Secondly, I’m offered zero support or follow up. Can’t even get someone from the internal team to tell me my app is broken and won’t be fixed. Literally zero help. Lastly, Whoop needs to allow different HR zone profiles for various activities. It’s widely known in the sports world that cycling hr zones are 10 bpm lower than running. This is a meaningful difference…

  2. 3/5Hits and Misses!

I've been using Whoop for a year and don't think I'll renew my membership. Let's start with the Hits: good software and app that is both intuitive and easy to use. Whoop does a good job of simplifying the concepts of output (strain) and recovery to guide your effort on a day to day basis. It also enables you to determine impact of specific activities, food, supplements etc on your recovery (albeit you are tied to what Whoop deems important vs being able to create your own categories...a big miss to tailoring the experience to what is important to individuals vs what Whoop thinks you should track). Misses: 1/ the sensor is most effective in static situations (riding a bike) vs dynamic movements that hinder the sensor from accurate readings. The oblong optical shape is suboptimal and is easily disrupted during dynamic (arm movements) exercises. I've tried wrist and arm straps and the arm band and have the same issue. The sensor is finicky and I haven't found optional placement while working out. Ave workout HR is typically 5-10 bpm lower than other sensors. 2/ Also i haven't seen any correlation between recovery and quality sleep. I understand autonomic system but their recovery need to also account for quality sleeping not simoly HRV, resting HR and breathing rate. I've had 95% recovery and been very tired due to poor sleep. 3/ Walled garden... Can't share data with other apps / systems. 4/ no ability to customize categories for tracking impact.

  3. 3/5What is going on lately???

Love my Whoop. It has been a performance game changer 100%. I have had it a little over a year now and it has provided me with so much insight on my workouts and recovery. It has truly changed the game for me as an athlete. That being said, recent connectivity and app malfunctions are really getting in the way of my truly utilizing my Whoop. It consistently disconnects from Bluetooth mid workout, and lately it hasn’t been up dating my heart rate data so I am unable to log workouts. For example, today I went for a run and it disconnected multiple times during the run. Finally, it updated my workout about 2 hours later. I went for my strength session about an hour after my run. It has now been 6 hours since my training session and I have been unable to upload to strength trainer because it hasn’t uploaded information about my heart rate since my run. Also, I have been having trouble with the function of strength trainer as it won’t allow me to add additional sets. I upload the exercise, but the add button isn’t working when I try to add sets. This has been extremely frustrating as a truly do love my Whoop outside of these errors. I hope these issues are fixed soon or I will have to end my subscription.

  4. 1/5Expensive, dishonest & disappointing

Dear WHOOP, the world doesn’t need another running wearable!!! I have been a WHOOP user for a long time. After I got deeply frustrated with the 5.0, I cancelled my membership. About a year and a half later, I decided to sign up for a month hoping they did some major updates to the strength trainer section…NOPE. The WHOOP was the first/only wearable that I found to track my strain/HRV in the weight room. I started with gen 2 and have used every version except the WHOOP Life. I have the 5.0 MG, and all throughout my use of the WHOOP, I have been hoping for updates to the strength trainer section of the app. I provide tons of feedback anytime I get a survey. They have never improved the UI of the strength trainer section, and it’s THE ONLY THING that sets this expensive wearable apart from my Garmin. Well, not anymore now that Garmin tracks strength training. Additionally, one of the key elements of the expense was that you would never have to pay for upgrades. You paid ~$450/year, so you get them. Not with the 5.0! The band is minutely smaller, so I have to get all new accessories because all the others don’t fit anymore; the charger won’t fit from my 4.0; the WHOOP 5.0 (not even considering the life/MG) is a costly “one-time” charge; and the strength training section still isn’t upgraded! I’m glad I paid for a month because it helped make my decision to stop using it feel more solid. It’s a shame, man, it feels like WHOOP wasted the one thing that set them apart.

  5. 2/5Uncomfortable, poor design, and just Ehhhh

I didn’t give them one because I feel like they’re trying but man,I gotta be honest, I’m a few months into it and I’m kind of over it. I have a few problems with it. First of all, I had to buy a new charger because I lost the original due to its loose fitting design making it easy to slide off. It’s a terrible design and half the time it wasn’t connecting to the strap giving it a charge. I always had to jostle it to get it to connect. Plus the charger barely holds a charge and need to be charged itself immediately. The monitor is big, gawky plastic, uncomfortableness tight fitting, and is impossible to sleep with on tho It was marginally more comfortable when I bought a different style band. but it’s just too big and gawky and can’t be worn slightly loose or else it won’t register your heartbeats. The price for wearing it in a way where it functions properly is to cut off circulation to your hand. As far as the app Idk I guess it’s alright, I workout a lot but I find that this really doesn’t benefit my performance at all and gives me information that I don’t really care about. My sleep was the only thing I really took away from it, but other, cheaper, and more comfortable bands do the same thing. Wish I hadn’t bought it. Won’t be continuing the $30/month. Getting something else and so should you.
