1. 2/5The Theragun is great, but app doesn’t add much

   I could see this being a great app, but it has a lot of UX issues that make it feel half-baked. BODY ILLUSTRATIONS: Need refinement with use at a glance in mind. I had to squint at a half-cropped-out hand to discern if the palm faced up or down. This should be readily obvious. Clearer differentiation between body's front and back would help; MOVEMENT DIAGRAMS: If these could be animated, it would go a long way. I found myself taking far too long to determine if I should massage back and forth, in a single direction, in figure 8s, etc.; PRODUCT ICON: The Theragun icon that indicates handle grip doesn't show the gun's head, leaving out the most obvious indicator of which grip is being highlighted. I find myself stopping to compare my gun to the illustration to determine if I'm holding it correctly instead of massaging myself; PAUSES/SOUNDS FOR BETTER ACCESSIBILITY: The app only pauses when you exchange massage heads, which means you have no allowance to switch positions that utilize the same head -- such as uncrossing a foot over one knee to cross the other, a pretty slow movement to get to the bottoms of your feet. It would be helpful for all users, but particularly beneficial for users with vision impairment, if there were massage pauses, audio countdowns, or other auditory cues for when a position should be changed. Not having to stare at the app would have vastly improved my experience, particularly after getting a little more accustomed to the diagrams and not needing to consult them as much. // Until those UX areas are improved, I find it a little hard to even start to evaluate the app's content.

2. 5/5Works great with my Theragun Elite

   I have been using the Theragun App in combination with my Theragun Elite and both have been working for me fantastically well. I use the app on my iPhone 11 Pro and do not have issues with it crashing or anything. The app works well and is able to connect to my Theragun Elite device almost instantly once I turn the device on. The great thing about the Therabody app is that there are a huge number of routines you can use for any part of your body. Especially for me since I had no idea which areas to specifically target to get the most benefit, this app shows you with routines. I specifically use the Sleep, Wake and Knots routines on the daily. I’ll use the Tech Neck when I get home from work. Run and Hike Recovery after a run or hike. There’s a lot of routines here you can choose from. The Wake/Sleep Routine is probably my favorite because it just helps my body get a jump start for the day or ready to turn in. Major kudos to the plantar fasciitis routine! I suffer from this occasionally and it’s a really big help!! The great thing about the app is that once you connect your device you can see how much force you’re exerting into your body and in routines it’ll show you the optimal force you’ll want. You can even control the device from the app free style without having to go through a routine. It’s great! One thing I would like to suggest to the developers is to allow users to customize the presets of their Theragun through the app. Otherwise the app works great!

   I think this app is fantastic. Not only is it incredibly user friendly, but also I’m sure just like myself, there’s people out there who do not use on which areas the theragun Is best used for and for how long. Especially when working out a lot muscle areas are more sensitive and need the perfect treatment to recover faster and better, so I love love love that you can choose the workout you just did for example surfing, and it tells you step by step which muscle group to massage and for how long to feel the best. I love that it doesn’t take ages but that most massage videos are like 10-20 min. So you can do this conveniently in between tasks or while watching TV. Not only is it for recovery but also for WARMUPS?! - I never thought of that! - and of course ailments. And they also have content for long hours in front of a computer and gaming so it’s not only focused on certain sports movements. I think that’s so important nowadays because we always sit in front the screen with bad posture. So I think this is amazing!

4. 3/5Terrible trade off for having great devices

   All three of my Therabody Devices (Elite, Wave Roller, Wave Duo) are amazing. I just wish Therabody would invest as much effort in its app as it does in all of its other products! What went wrong: There used to be useful previews in the legacy app that made it easy to follow along during a routine. You preview the routine so you don’t have to figure it out as you go. Now we’re stuck with two dimensional drawings with confusing arrows and vague descriptions. For instance, “[Right upper back:] Roll the area of your body back and forth with your wave series device” doesn’t tell me much. At what angle should my body be leaning?How far up and down should I go? How fast/slow should I roll? A short video clip or a voiceover during the routine explaining this a little better would make me less afraid of irritating my spine while trying a new routine. I’ve resorted to using the Hyperice App for routines, despite having no connectivity. If this doesn’t get fixed, I might have to switch over to the competition when replacing these devices.

5. 5/5This app was made for me!!! 😍💪🏽

   The UX is extremely well done and the stylistic choices made in creating the app aesthetically really make it a pleasure to navigate! The routines are seamlessly thoughtful and well put together and for me, they add a layer of confidence to pre and post activity massage-gun sessions (making them something to look forward to even if it’s the last thing your sore muscles are looking forward to.) I really like that it’s accessible to all massage-gun brand owners and that the app addresses focus to a wide range of active lifestyles, not just folks who lift weights or play a popular organized sport (the gaming, equestrian, and lifestyle routines really impressed me!) I also enjoy that this app takes a more proactive approach to using the Theragun, having routines simply for wellness practices and self care routines, not just to react to an ailment or to recover from a workout (which is how a lot of individuals use their massage-guns). Really in love with everything about this app, I would give it 6 stars if I could. The only thing I think could be improved is the graphics for forearm “flexors” and “extensors”. I can’t really tell from either guide how they’re different from each other.
