  1. 5/5Inspired by Virus TI2

    The authors mention they were inspired by Access Music’s Virus TI2 synthesizer — which was selling unchanged from 2009 until early 2024 and therefore the longest selling synthesizer of all times. Now legendary after the production stopped, it’s save to say the Virus was and still is a fundamental instrument for electronic dance music production. Inspiration isn’t emulation. So, you are not exactly getting a Virus TI into your iPhone. But you are getting a soft synth running on your iPhone or iPad that has not only hundreds of presets to come along but also offers you Virus-like to tweak and create amazing new sounds. Check out some of the ARPed sounds and you will feel the power of the VIRAL Synth T2x synth. Virus TI lovers will be very happy and amazed about the sounds and music they can create with what the brillant brains of the AudioKit developer team have released to the public. All this from a device of the size of the palm of your hand. Hook it up to a MIDI keyboard controller and start composing from anywhere you are. If you don’t know which software synths to get to run on iOS and if you have to install or want to make selections, don’t hesitate to get this one. You will regret if you don’t.

  2. 5/5The Exceptional remains the Exceptional

    So much fun for so little money. I would call myself a vst junky. So I would love to have these instruments available as a AU or VST 3 to use in my DAWS. I am a professional so I know that you can connect all of the instruments through IOS. However, when you’re creating a project, It would be easy to set them as you can do with other VST Synthesizers. Note, however, this steel of a deal could be raised to be above $10 dollars. That said, I have written reviews for all of your instruments, All, fun, unbelievable in quality, quantity of presets, creative to the max. A no brainer to buy!

  3. 4/5Pretty good so far

    Starting with a 4 star review. Likely will go to 5 stars after I dink around with more and put through the paces. I was really bummed when Kemper just up and left the Access Virus TI to rot when macOS dropped 32 bit support. I feel like after years of great support, the sudden quiet and frozen in time website was a real gut punch. Never buy the Kemper amps! They clearly don't care about being real and showing respect to loyal customers. A simple acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Sadly, this amazing app isn't an emulator. Would have been nice to import some of my old TI sounds in, but I get it. And I don't hold that against the developer at all. But this app does seem to capture the vibe of my favorite synth. Looking forward to playing around with it more!

  4. 5/5If it’s AudioKit, I get it!

    No questions asked, really. So much work must go into the making of these apps, and you’re getting them for, shall we say, “a song”? See what I did there? Admittedly, the only hardware synths i own are some old Ensoniq models from the late-1980s to early-1990s, so these “later” hardware models are foreign to me— that, and I’m not a real keyboard player to begin with, let alone a programmer! All I know is that they are a whale of a lot of fun to play on and with. The presets are outstanding, and the simplicity of altering the presets is quite easy and fun to do. And I’m learning a ton of things along the way! The only thing I’m not sure about is how to speed up/slow down the arms to match the tempo set in GarageBand. I don’t know about other DAWs, so I can’t speak to those apps. As standalones, they work GREAT, and each AudioKit synth has its own unique sound qualities. Get ‘em all, I say! You won’t regret it! Bravo to the developers!

  5. 5/5I can't possibly think of anything, that hasn't already been said, by so many others.

    Thank you, AudioKit, for making such great apps, pricing them fairly, and not using the subscription-based business model, that so many other companies have. I like to just pay for an app and be done with it. If there's add-ons, I'll buy the ones that I like. I just can't pay a monthly fee, for apps that I only use once in a while. You keep making these apps, and I'll keep buying them!

In fact, reloading a project now uses less memory than the original load. • Real numbers: a project with 2 instances loaded twice used ~960 MB before; now ~180 MB. A third reload used to jump to ~1.3 GB; now still ~180 MB. • Performance in GB jumps from a rough Grade D to a confident Grade A. • If GB won't show Viral, in your device's "Settings" app under GarageBand, choose "Reset GarageBand" Other Host Improvements. • Rock-solid when switching presets while receiving MIDI in Loopy Pro, GB, and others. No more preset switching crashes in Loopy Pro! • Groove Rider loads faster and handles multiple loads without crashing. App now responds to MIDI Program Change in hosts like AUM. • Alternate “A” tuning now recalls with AUv3 saved state and presets. Reload projects at 432 Hz (or any tuning), and save different tunings per preset. Use the new Lock button next to tuning to keep the same tuning while you change presets. • Close button added to the Bluetooth MIDI Keyboard popup (especially useful on iPhone). • Were you having crashes on standalone during load?
