   I’ve used Unplug for a few years now. I’d used other apps before and done non-guided meditation, and the Unplug app is super special. The teachers and their meditations are such a gift. There are all types of meditations and so many different teachers with their own unique style. It is easy to find something helpful for a particular situation or simply have variety and try different types of meditation including sound bath. I love the use of video so that you see the teacher. For me it helps get a sense of them and create a deeper connection to both the teacher and the meditation. It makes it all feel grounded.

2. 1/5I feel bamboozled

   I just finished watching The Brotherly Love podcast where the creator of this app was a guest. She heavily mentioned the app throughout the show but she did offer some great techniques such as the 16 second meditation which was phenomenal. So of course I decided to check out the app. I should’ve known something was shady when I saw that she gave the UNPLUG app swag to the brothers as gifts. There was no actual heartfelt gifts just swag so she could get more promotion out of them. I read a lot of the reviews. I read the description of this app to make sure that there was no fee for using this app. Of course I download the app I answer a few questions and then bam it asked me for a subscription. I feel like that’s a little sneaky especially for a Meditation app. You could at least offer a one week free trial to see if people like it first. I’m not just going buy something without trying it first. Please do better Suze.

   The meditation journey is about letting go of thoughts and ideas that take oneself out of the present moment and attending to what is. Often our judgements and preconceived notions create a narrative which skews our view of what is really being experienced, moment by moment. There are many great teachers that can offer restorative guidance in this app. Typically they are shorter sessions which make them very accessible for a busy working professional like myself. There is not a lot of very deep meditation training here, so if you’re looking for that, you might try elsewhere. The downside is that every once in a while, there are some judgy titles or thoughts of the day, such as today’s, “Making excuses burns zero calories”. I don’t come to a meditation app to burn calories - I come to reduce stress and anxiety so this just feels really out of place and unwelcome. I think they’re also trying to expand their offerings into fitness but again, the titles like Getting rid of your muffin top just feel really anti-thematic to unplugging and accepting what is.

4. 5/5Stop reading & DOWNLOAD! Best gift you could ever give yourself 🙃

   Unplug Meditation Studio in LA has been instrumental & absolutely evolutionary in my life. For those that don't have the blessing of attending in person, their app is unique to other studios in it is JUST AS GOOD AS THE REAL THING! I have struggled with depressive episodes & anxiety throughout my life and meditation, rather than medication, has literally saved my life 10 times over. Unplug's app & desktop platform is a thing of aesthetic beauty - calming just to look at for us detail-oriented types. You can see the amount of love & care their team has poured into this app. One of the best things about the Unplug studio is the community there. Using the app since it's early conception, I have had the joy of watching a community form there as well. There are so many meditations to choose from - something for everyone! Unplug runs fantastic events through their app like the 30 day challenge I am participating in at the moment - what a brilliant way to build a regular practice. I could go on forever - truly -, but just trust me when I say that this app is my secret weapon in calming & conquering my overly active mind. What are you still reading for? DOWNLOAD :) PS: for those of you new to meditation, those of you with the belief that you cannot meditate, or those who may have tried in the past to no avail.. do as master yoga says: "do or do not, there is no try" 🙏💕

   I’ve tried several meditation apps. I liked this one because it had both hypnosis and meditation, and several different categories. However with regular daily use, I’ve found that the lack of ability to minimize the app and continue to listen is a huge setback. Why would I want to keep my video on, causing light, while trying to go to sleep? Please add the option to minimize the app and continue playback. Or add audio only files instead of all videos. In no way do I need to watch someone talk or the ocean for 15 minutes. I have my eyes closed the entire time anyway. Aside from that, I do find the app and the people helpful. But it stresses me out that I can’t minimize the app, which negates the purpose of using the app for meditation. Also, why add the ability to make playlists if they don’t continuously play your videos? You have to click on them individually to play them, which flies I the face of the entire reason for a play list - so you can play the audio/video you want without having to touch your phone at all. That just seems silly. Please make it so you can play an entire playlist, not just individual videos in a playlist. Thanks.
