2/5I’m sorry, this game is just kind of garbage.
I hate saying that this game is just kind of garbage … obviously a lot of love and care went into his. The illustrations are lovely. And someone really has the beginnings of some good ideas. And I spent hard-earned money, so yeah, I’d like this to not be bad. Unfortunately, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. For starters, the whole process of the game is too complex. Or maybe ‘hard to follow’ would be more correct. It seems obvious to me that the designers of this game thought they had a bunch of great ideas; they went nuts pumping it full of stuff that is just too clever by half. I’m not even talking about the actual ‘escape room’ part. Just figuring out which cards get turned over and when is too much. The rules are a logic puzzle in and of themselves, and not the fun kind. We’re going to give this another go tomorrow night. But, if I’m being honest, it sounds more like drudgery than fun. But I spent hard-earned money, so we have to try.

1/5Fails with Ticket to Ride game
The Ticket to Ride game in Unlock Games was a bust. It requires taking a photo of a few cards via the app but for two of them (a foot and a bottle) it flat out wouldn’t work with iPhone 17 Pro Max even after taking DOZENS of photos from various angles and distances. We had to take a photo with a SECOND phone, zoom in, and take a photo of THAT phone with the iPhone. (Thank you BGG forums for that workaround!) Of course during all that nonsense the clock is counting down and killing your score. This is the downside of requiring an app for your game: It MUST work, and this one didn’t.

3/5Good app until now…
Just played the Third Scenario in Unlock… The Curse on Camelot… I ran into a lot of bugs…the app locked up multiple times requiring a restart and the app required voice recognition that didn’t work throughout the whole scenario. The app has ways to work around it …which makes me think they anticipated voice recognition problems. However one of the last puzzles has no workaround … so we weren’t able to finish it. This unlock box set has had the most bugs yet of all unlock sets. For reference I was playing on an Iphone15. Overall these are good…so I can’t tank the app rating … because of flaws in the most recent boxes that have been released. The bugs unfortunately are causing frustration in the more recent sets making these less enjoyable to play.

4/5New and fun idea- needs some finesse
Our family of three (2 adults, one 10 yr old) had a lot of fun playing this game. It’s a great idea, but needs some smoothing out. It was far fetched to figure out a few of the clues/ cards (like the colored vials in “Formula”). The penalties were pretty harsh as well! All in all, we did enjoy puzzling through it and had a blast! Now that we know how to interact with the game, we may not need to pause to figure out how to use cards in different version quite as much.

4/5Has some minor grammar errors that make it difficult
The machines are tricky to understand sometimes. The tutorial has a slight grammar error in the hint for the machine. You have to make one number combination in your head to reveal the Wire card and THEN you have to combine the Wire with the machine again in the app. The app won’t accept a +14 with the Key card to get to 25, it will give you a penalty (even though that seems like a reasonable combination). Wish they would make that part easier to understand.
