  1. 5/5Be careful

It was my understanding that I have Dental Coverage with my United Healthcare (UHC) and provider. I went to my dentist to have an emergency extraction performed because my tooth was in excruciating discomfort when chewing food and just closing my mouth. I checked my coverage which indicated that extractions were covered but when my Dentist performed the procedure and submitted the claim to UHC it was denied claiming that the procedure was not covered under my dental coverage although it clearly stated extractions in my coverage description. My dentist also submitted claims for the X-ray and exams that was performed prior to the extraction and they to were denied although they were also indicated in coverage as being a part of my coverage. When I contacted UHC about the incidents all I was continually told was that the procedures were not covered on my current coverage although my coverage clearly says they are. I was told that I can appeal to have the claims paid. Why should I have to appeal to have claims honored that were clearly indicated as coverages. No one was help me except to continually tell me that they were not covered under My plan. But I was told that extractions and X-rays were only covered in the event they were for surgical procedures in the event of oral surgery or something to that matter. Which totally changed the definition of coverage for extraction. Basically I had to pay for all of the procedures out of pocket for understanding UHC new definition of extractions. I was also told that I have to contact my navigator before I visit a medical provider to see if it’s covered unless it’s an emergency

  2. 5/5WORST tech assistance EVER!

My husband and I have both had United Healthcare for over 2 years now. His app works fine. Mine stopped working correctly in November. I made 3 phone calls before I was informed I should have a ticket number. Was never told I needed one before and never given one. My rewards, step tracking, and chat feature were all gone. I call every couple weeks and get different people who claim to be technology supervisors, but can’t figure out or fix the issue. I was finally told after. 3 1/2 hour phone conversation last month that there are two technology sides. One for the rewards under Healthy Benefits and one for the medical side. They claim that someone put the shortened version of my name into the system which flagged me as having an alias and stopped my app from working. Now when I call I get passed around and these people are from another country, they speak with such an accent I can barely understand them. It’s 5 months and numerous lengthy phone calls , hours long, still not fixed. Maybe Elon Musk needs to look into the Medicare supplements and get out American technological students to work on these issues. This is the most RIDICULOUS THING EVER!!!! Seriously United Healthcare hire English speaking technology people.

  3. 1/5Miserable experience

To start, the app is poorly designed. Instead of providing the customer service phone number, it directs the user to use the number on the back of the membership card. The number on the electronic card is not a hyperlink, nor can it be copied into the phone app. One either has to go get their wallet or take a screenshot and then click on the screenshot, which automatically turns it into a hyperlink. Also, this review feature doesn’t scroll when you’re typing, so it hides what you’re typing unless you manually scroll. That’s the “good” news, sadly. The worse news: even after having to deal with the obstruction of the AI voice menu, the agent could not tell me the price of my next refill. After acknowledging that part of the reason my first refill of 2026 was double what I usually pay because I had to satisfy the deductible (which I now have), she kept insisting that the next refill would still be the same charge and not only seemed incapable of grasping that the deductible is only satisfied once. I finally had to hang up on her. Finally, last year, Optum kept telling me that they weren’t filling my non-formulary med because there was no prior auth, but it turns out that they never requested one. This happened repeatedly even after they had an approved prior authorization earlier in the year for this maintenance medication. Even worse, they then hid the medication from my list so that I couldn’t even pay cash for it. This will all find its way into the grievance I am filing with CMS.

  4. 5/5Problems with the app.

I also have had problems with the app. I see a product in the order book is covered. But when I scan the barcode. The app says the product isn’t covered. I also tried to use my credits to pay utility bills. But was told the companies I use were not in the formularies. Ameran is the major utility anywhere in the United States. And when I do buy only what is in the catalog. Many times all the items were not covered. But it didn’t let me know which ones. So I had to pay out of pocket. I didn’t try to figure out the which items. Because I would have to run each one separately. I don’t understand why Walmart brands are accepted but other store brands are not. It’s like Walmart has cornered the market with UH Care. ???? I will say I’m very thankful for the extra help. When I first became disabled, the insurance plan was straight Medicare and or Medicaid. And we didn’t have all the extras. I think the younger generation don’t always think about how well they are provided for. But I also believe that if a company presents themselves as having certain options. They should deliver those options. And whatever is not functioning well should be fixed.

  5. 2/5Not working and out of date

This app needs a lot of work and fixes. Where to start… the Rx portion doesn’t list your medications that are called into the pharmacy until they are billed and paid and then aren’t complete. The pharmacy portion (at least for SelectRx) has no interface so you can’t see pending issues, shipping, needs attention, cost, etc. and I spent 3 hours on the phone with the insurance company with them telling me that I need to call the doctors office for a Prior authorization, but no one ever told me until I called and spoke with 3 reps before a supervisor finally said that I don’t need to do that the pharmacy does it. And with 4 prior auths on file none ever show up in the app. Also, on the claims, I’ve paid every time I see a doctor or Specialest and for the co pays on the medication but only a fraction has shown up. And when you call about it, no one has a clue. Also when I select to chat, it’s talking to an AI and never has the option for what I need but they sure what you to select how good their care is. Really wish I could talk to someone about the app. If it can’t do what most other health care and pharmacy apps can please let me know so I won’t expect much. If I’m not looking in the right spot let me know. If there’s more or other apps that keep up with my medication please direct me. And every time I ask to speak with the pharmacy, specifically SelextRx, don’t put me on hold for an hour only to send me to OptimumRx and I have to go through the whole process again. Very poor app for very important information.
