5/5Simple and Free
This a great simple app to record gps. Allows for logging gps in gpx format locally or to a remote server. UI is simple, would be nice if a user could view the recorded file on a map.

1.0.3
This release fixes an issue that could leave the location service running when it should be stopped, if 'Strict HDOP' is enabled and recording of a single location is requested whilst logging is inactive. If no location matching the required minimum HDOP is found within the seek time, the location service remains running. This release ensures the location service is stopped in that situation.

1.1.0
This version introduces the ability to append a note and include it with the next established location sent to the remote host. This is only relevant to remote logging. The TripLogger Remote Apple Watch app now displays the iPhone's battery percentage whilst remote logging is active. Please refer to the 'Location Logging' and 'Apple Watch' sections of the updated documentation [1] for more details. [1]: https://www.fdsd.co.uk/triplogger/ There are also some minor bug fixes.

1.10.0
You can now import GPX [1] files into the app, containing routes, tracks and waypoints and view them on the map. The GPX files are listed on the routes page. Select a route to be displayed when the map page is opened. Alternatively you can select a track to be shown as your route instead. When you open the map page, the selected route is displayed together with any waypoints from the same GPX file. If you are currently logging locally, your current local track is displayed on the map. If you are using an Apple Watch, make sure to select the 'Run on Watch' option so that the local track is active and available on the watch's map page. Please note that the maps are not available offline within the app, other than those parts that the Apple MapKit API has cached, even if you have saved offline maps within Apple's Maps app. The route, track and waypoints are still visible, but with missing or no map detail in the background. You can of course still use Apple Maps offline features in that situation, perhaps switching between the two. However, always carry traditional paper maps and a compass! 1.2.1
This release adds the ability to create a note on the Apple Watch to send to the remote host together with the current location. It also adds the below notifications which can be individually controlled from the app's settings. They are also generally enabled and disabled via the device's notification settings, the latter overriding any of the app settings. - Success or failure notification after requesting sending of a single location, with or without a note. - When the iPhone or iPad battery level is lower or higher than configurable values whilst discharging or charging respectively. Battery level notifications are only sent whilst logging is enabled and running. You will be asked permission to send notifications when the new version of the app is run the first time. If you choose not to allow notifications, you can allow access later in the device notification settings. The battery level notifications need to be set within the app before they will take effect. These notifications are primarily intended for use with an Apple Watch, especially in situations where it may be inconvenient to access the iPhone or iPad, such as when being carried in a backpack. Please note that the notifications are not displayed in some circumstances, such as when the TripLogger app is in the foreground and the iPhone or iPad is unlocked, or when the TripLogger app is in the foreground on the Apple Watch and the watch is awake. This behavior is outside the control of the app.

1.3.1
- Implemented creating and using custom predefined location notes for quick access on iPhone/iPad and Apple Watch. - Queuing and retrying failed remote location transmissions. - Fixed background location indicator (activity bar) still being shown when the activity bar is set to disabled. The app permissions now include the 'Always on' option for location monitoring which is required to hide the background location indicator. It's advisable to have the very useful background location indicator enabled, but on some devices, where the app is being used for location tracking over a long period of time, it can be very annoying. e.g. on the iPhone SE the background location indicator expands the status bar to two lines with a constantly flashing reminder.

Common settings can be maintained in separately named profiles, e.g. Hiking, Cycling, Driving. Only those settings that are likely to change between activity types are contained in the profile, i.e. local logging, remote logging and accuracy settings. All settings can be exported and imported via sharing (in YAML format). Note suggestions (templates) can be exported and imported as a text file. Note that the note suggestions are also included in the settings export/import and therefore overwritten on import. - Change settings profile from Apple Watch - The last few entries from the activity log can be viewed on Apple Watch with a left swipe page change. - Added Spanish translations. - When sending a note with your location, you can quickly add it to the saved list of notes before sending it. - Minor bug fixes and performance improvements.
-
1.7.0
TripLogger can now be run stand-alone on the Apple Watch. You will still need a paired iPhone for the initial configuration and some less-frequent operations. Non-cellular versions of the Apple Watch will no doubt need the paired iPhone to provide Internet access. - Removed support for iOS versions less than 12 and watchOS versions less than 6.0.
-
1.7.5
Stability and performance improvements. - Instead of disabling the 'Settings' button on the Apple Watch where no configuration settings have been received from the iPhone, the app now prompts to re-request a configuration update from the iPhone. Information is written to the activity logs to assist in identifying any issues. - Activity logs are saved and no longer cleared on low memory warnings. - Clears the activity log on the Apple Watch when cleared on the iPhone. - Updates the Apple Watch activity log in real-time.
-
1.8.0
Tracks can be viewed in Apple Maps by selecting them in the tracks list, clicking the share icon then selecting the 'View on Map' option.

-
1.9.1
Fix track logs not being removed after transfer from Apple Watch
-
1.9.2
- Fixed updating Apple Watch settings after changing the battery threshold alerts on the iPhone. - When logging directly from the Apple Watch, the latest logging date was the date of the most recent successfully sent location, not necessarily the latest successful location, if the locations end up sent out of order (e.g. due to poor connectivity). Fixed.
