  1. 5/5(Edit) Making the UI worse to sell subscriptions

EDIT: Thanks to the Talli team for restoring the previous functionality so quickly! Great to see them so responsive to customer feedback and willing to admit mistakes. Updated to 5 stars. We’ve used Talli since our 7 month old was born, and with the dedicated logging device it’s quite convenient. But lately it seems the developers are only interested in upselling the subscription plan. This last update changed the UI so that it now takes one more tap every time you want to log something. Annoying enough, but you *can* go back to logging with one tap — if you pay for it. I’m all for paying money for useful features (the button customization, for instance, is nice) but hobbling your own app and then charging to restore the previous functionality is not a great move. Makes me wonder what they’ll remove and charge for next. I wish the developers would focus instead on making the core logging experience better, like making it work offline, adding Apple Watch or Siri support, etc. In the meantime, I’ll start trying other apps.

  2. 4/5Swapped from a different (free) app and lost functionality

EDIT: I loaded in today and can now see all my data in the graphs, so it must just take a day to populate everything instead of populating as data is added. We ordered Talli the day our son was born during the last most recent big backorder for the devices. We weren’t aware of the app functionality sans device, so we used a different app - Baby Tracker - in the interim. It was free (or at least just a one time payment) it had account sharing and all the functionality we wanted out of Talli, minus the device. Since receiving our Talli tracker (which is super cool), there’s now a subscription fee to pay (which is a reasonable amount, but still a bummer) and we lost two things that I loved about Baby Tracker —- the option for the screen to not time out while using timers, and the tracking of nursing. Why are only bottle feeds and diaper changes being recorded in daily, details AND totals when there’s so much more data being logged? I know it can be seen from the dashboard, but as someone who primarily breastfeeds and then bottle-feeds to supplement, it’s super disconcerting to not see my breast feedings pop up in the daily totals. Am I just missing a setting? Also realizing that because of this, it looks like I can only see my last nursing session? Hoping those are fixed - we’ve only just started using Talli today, but so far those are the only issues I’ve noticed. Will have to continue using our other app for nursing which is a total bummer

  3. 5/5Love the functionality, dislike the regular service outings

*Update: Talli’s dev team is wonderful. My feedback below was already a feature I just didn’t know existed. They reached out and let me know how to turn on the “Time Since” function 🥳 just wonderful. Thanks guys. Having this app (and remote) for our first has been so helpful. There is so much happening in a day it’s easy to forget when something last happened or how long they have been awake, etc. For that alone I would give 5 stars. Something that is a real bummer is that there seem to pretty regular outages, it unclear if they are doing updates or something but man, if they are I hope they get this and start scheduling those for the night time. A feature request would be to have a wake window timer (triggered by the sleep timer) showing how long they’ve been awake and a how long since eating timer. I use my watch timers and stop watches to help me have a quick visual to guide my day. Ya know, don’t jump in the shower because they have been asleep for 30 minutes and are about to wake up - type information.

  4. 5/5LOVE TALLI

we bought ours in anticipation of our first born and started using it earlier than expected - to count baby kicks using the miscellaneous button. It worked great for it and now we are finally using it for the baby. I’d say we use the app 50% of the time. Couple of suggestions - (#1) when using breastfeeding or similar time based modes using the app, it doesn’t save it right away when you start the timer. So, if you happen to exit the app or go back, you lose your changes. The trick is to start the timer, then immediately save it and then go back to the screen. I’d highly suggest updating this to autosave whenever the timer is changed. (#2) the device could have a fallback sync option for failed button press events. Right now if any event fails, its lost. You have to press it again. It’s rare but we have had some issues with wifi on it. Talli IG team even offered to replace the unit. Regardless, I highly recommend them and would absolutely buy one for a family/friend.

  5. 2/5Don’t love the latest update

Update - I’m not a huge fan of the new “manual edit” screen. It was so much easier to edit times on each side before. Also, there’s a flaw with using the start and end times - it doesn’t allow for time in between sides burping/etc. I could easily spend 5+ minutes in between sides but now I have to assign that extra time to one of the sides. Prior review - This is by far my favorite baby tracking app but it is missing one huge feature that would make it 4/5 stars for me - an iOS widget. This would really help me check last feedings, etc. much quicker, as the app takes a second to open and then always has to refresh. Having a quicker way to check this info (like a widget on my phone’s home screen) would make my life so much easier. Additionally, I’d love to be able to customize the main screen and remove tracking items that I don’t use. Currently you can only hide nursing or pumping and being able to hide all of them would help declutter the screen. Another thought is combining the Home Screen and daily history screen into one - it’s kind of annoying to toggle between them just to track something. Thanks!
