  1. 4/5How Jellyfin was meant to be

Although missing a few important features like downloading to device, in my opinion this is the definitive way Jellyfin should run. It’s faster, and smoother, removes the need for multiple pages for media libraries, and allows continuous scrolling to display more media like a modern app should. Also adds the ability to quickly switch between multiple users, and adds a way to protect users with a pin (although it could use some improvements like needing to reenter the pin after closing and reopening the app)

  2. 1/5Works OK. No DTS 7.1, Atmos or Dolby Vison. Video issues on new Apple TV 4K

This app needs some work. Will not play video unless experimental force direct play is turned on. If this is off, video resolution looks terrible, if it even plays. I have a brand new Apple TV 4K red generation running latest tvOS. This app does not play tru-hd 7.1, Atmos or Dolby vision. If the movie is in 7.1 you will hear no sound. Must change to 5.1 format. Also don’t have your Apple TV set to Dolby vision. If you do, this app will not work correctly and colors will be messed up. Make sure your Apple TV is set to 4K SDR. Would be nice to have ability to add folders without having to go into media and then my folder. Add this to the home screen Tried the Infuse Player by another developer and it works with all the above without any issues. Only give this app two stars because it’s free. Hoping you can fix the issues mentioned above

  3. 3/5Some good, some bad

There are some good features. I like how the media container info is show in the About section and the hamburger menu for multiple editions (although I would just prefer to have them displayed in a list). However that’s completely missing on tvOS. And on iPad there is no subtitle display control during playback: you have to back out completely and go into Settings. Finally, there, if you decrease the font size, the subtitles get BIGGER. (!) As for browsing libraries, there is no alpha scroll bar on any platform and no filters on tvOS, making it very difficult to navigate any sizable library. If I could rearrange the UI and add those missing features, especially the missing pieces on tvOS, this would rock.

  4. 3/5Still slow to load/no refresh

The app has come a long way, I remember when you couldn’t even watch live TV and kept crashing Would be good if it cached the list (no pictures. Or with an option to cache pictures too to make it faster), so it doesn’t need to constantly try and check the whole server (which takes a long time if the library is big) When you finish an episode, it doesn’t prompt to watch the next one, and if you go to home, the next episode doesn’t appear.. so you got to manually refresh the app and wait for it to load (or go to the series and choose the next episode) Also would be good if the app allowed which media folder to show/not show on home, and an independent live TV tab option instead of having to go to media->live TV (it would help specially on Apple TV as if you want to go to live tv, you have to go media->library and if you want to go back, you need to go to home and wait for the library to sync again) If the app cached the server list and refreshed at home to show the next episode, I would finally stop using the old web based one

  5. 1/5Way to go further downhill

Wow: I used to have a 4-star rating and a review praising this app…but the new iteration went so far backwards that it’s almost unusable on my Apple TV. Nothing about the newest updates has been beneficial. Shows no longer auto-play the next episode (even with the setting turned on), the main page puts a line through the wallpaper for the menus below it, album artwork (which never changed) is now either changed or missing, episode names no longer show up while episodes are playing (it shows the show’s name now), and if you click to watch an episode, the first button the system highlights takes you to the series’ homepage instead of simply playing the episode! This feels like something AI wrote now as opposed to a programmer.
