  1. 5/5Motivating

I’ve been using this for a month now and absolutely love the app. Prior to this I could never keep track of what I was lifting the workout prior to continue muscle growth without over pushing and I also didn’t have much direction when I went to the gym. I’d just do whatever workouts I felt like doing. This helps give week over week insights so I can easily see my progress. The AI feature also makes it easy to tweak workouts if something isn’t working for you. Definitely motivating me to keep hitting the gym!

  2. 2/5Not even close

Probably one of the more frustrating workout apps I’ve tried. Many other apps are intuitive. Not Spotr. The idea of a superset, for example, seems oddly to escape the app’s function. Just marking exercises within a superset does not handle them as such. I’m not certain what it does, actually. Many other frustrating elements: often will not remember or recall what your last weight/rep settings were as the “previous” column will be left blank. Suggested weight increases don’t seem to happen at all (so much for the AI-assisted “coach”). Previous effort settings will very often be erased/dropped from view. Right now, there are better workout apps out there. I’d give Spotr maybe another 6 months of development and see if improvements are made. But for me, it’s often a frustrating app.

  3. 5/5Very customizable routines and easy to use

I recently sprained my foot, but Spotr’s routines are super easy to customize based on injuries or training priorities. You just tell the AI what the issue is, and it adjusts your workout plan accordingly. I also really like the tracking and voice command features because they make it way easier to keep track of my progress at the gym without having to log everything manually.

  4. 2/5Pay before you play

The app sends you through (what is now become) a typical series of questions to learn more about you and your goals when you first open it. Not to spoil it, but good news! The app can address everything you need! That’s great, but before you can even interact with any kind of program building, see the exercise catalog, or anything else that would actually help to inform whether or not this would work for you, you’re asked to pay. And it doesn’t offer the typical Apple app trial where you can just cancel whenever you want and not be charged. You have to contact them to get a refund. That’s a big red flag in my book.

  5. 4/5Overall great

Overall the app is great and I am now using this one after trying several others. It’s currently more geared towards people that know what they are doing in the gym like myself rather than people just starting out. Personally, I really wish the app had built in macro tracking and nutrition info. If it had that and the ability to ask for recipes and have them automatically added to your library then the ability to track all macros, it would be a game changer.
