  1. 5/5Just what I needed

I was looking for a cataloging app for my collections when I came across Sofa. I didn’t realize it at the time, but Sofa was actually what I needed. This app strikes just the right balance between simplicity and information density to make it the perfect companion to help navigate your downtime. Before, I would spend so much time going over everything I could do that I would lose the opportunity to actually do anything. With Sofa, I can not only keep track of everything in my collections, but I can also keep track of how I want to spend my time, and quickly find the perfect thing to complement my mood or situation. I no longer need to work to remember recommendations from others. Just long press on the icon and you can add from your home screen, an option so quick that you don’t even need to stop the conversation to explain what you are doing. Additionally, the app’s surprisingly powerful sticky note feature lets you write about and cross reference items in your collections to your heart’s content. Sofa makes it easy to organize the things you want to spend your time doing, allowing you to make as many or as few categories as you want. Sofa is designed to help you spend less time contemplating what you might do, and help you zero in on exactly what you want to do. I cannot overstate how useful this app honestly is — a true game changer that actually helps you use your collections, as opposed to simply possessing them. I love this, and it has quickly become one of my most used apps.

  2. 5/5Love this APP!

I have been looking for this APP for years! I mainly am using this to organize my ebook to be read (TBR) list. I was unhappy with other options as they would not let me add ebooks that I did not already own or were not part of their internal catalogue. I happen to subscribe to an unlimited ebook “library” and since they recently changed their wishlist settings, I have found I needed a better way to organize my TBR list and organize what I want to read next. This APP allows for tagging with customizable tags so I can make a tag for how interested I am in reading a book, what themes/tropes are in the book/series (oh yeah, you can save a whole series instead of each individual book in a series creating a much cleaner list unlike a certain conglomerates wishlist set-up). You can also sort into groups, static lists or smart lists to help keep your “shelves” organized. There are some quality of life improvements that could be added but overall this is an amazing APP and I’m so glad I found it. If you are an avid ebook reader/collector and are tired of Goodreads, Story Graph, Library Thing, Calibre, excel, and more, this APP is for you. One downside is that this is only offered for Apple products, but if you are an Apple user, it saves to your cloud so you can use the APP on all devises (which is really nice for those of us who are constantly moving device to device).

  3. 5/5Very very well done

I used to approximate the functionality of Sofa using iOS notes years ago. Way back I wondered, however, if a dev might eventually build a niche app for keeping track of media consumption. Sofa really is akin to a project or time management app for your downtime, but both in functionality and design aesthetic it hits the mark for this purpose beautifully, while its capabilities extend well beyond a simple single purpose todo list. To the less OCD among us, the entire concept implied by this app may seem a little nuts, but to others (you know who you are), this is pretty much the most well crafted solution I can imagine. The app is sophisticated enough to satisfy every purpose I’ve put it to, yet simple enough to fade into the background when you’re just trying to get things listed & organized. Sofa is stable and mature, the UI is well considered and implemented, it’s quite functional and it’s certainly actively developed and improved. The sourcing of info and cover art for everything from movies & shows to books & podcasts is quite strong. All the expected centric and iOS amenities are there in the current version: iCloud syncing and backup, shared lists, multi-format data export, widgets, strong Shortcuts support and a good user data privacy model. For anyone who desires an app like this, the Super Sofa subscription for full functionality is well worth it. Five stars across the board! The only feature requests I can imagine based on my near daily usage of the iPhone & iPad versions would be perhaps an Watch app for quick reference, and a native macOS app.

  4. 5/5ADHD Life-Saver

My life consists of a lot of moving pieces and commitments, add in a sprinkle of ADHD and I’m the most forgetful person on this planet. I’m always looking for a way to easily log and track the different books or shows I want to watch when I finally get some free time. I’ve tried things like written notes or the notepad app but always manage to lose or forget about them. I’m also a very visual person, so not being able to easily see the cover of the media makes it harder to recall what it was about or why I even wanted to watch/read it. Sofa makes it so easy to quickly log a piece of media without having to hunt down all of the information itself. The shelf feature allows you to store media of all kinds in one category. I use it to log all of the media I am currently consuming and plan to consume next. Adding the widget to my phone makes it easy to quickly figure out what I want to watch next without having to rack my brain trying to remember that movie I saw on Netflix last week. It’s a game changer. 10/10. If the developers ever make something geared towards students or working professionals (marking conferences or technical documents), I’ll gladly use that too. My work around is adding in a custom category and inputting the titles manually. Multiple shelves would also be cool. Big thank you to the developers for the awesome app!

  5. 4/5Room for Improvement

Overall, I think the app is close to what I’ve been looking for but I feel like with many others there’s too much the app is trying to do. I think if the app was more focused on movie night, family event planning, game night planning, and travel planning that it would elevate my experience with it. For example, I have no interest in adding “apps to check out” or “podcasts”, but what I have interest in is a better optimized planner where I can add episodes or movies we plan to watch using the app’s UI instead of manually typing things out/adding the cover art, etc. This would also create better logging since the stats don’t seem to show even when I manually log an episode. I’ve been using notes for movie night planning for so long and I would like an easier system but right now, this app is creating more work even though I do like the overall feel to it and the ability to share the event page with family. The countdown is also nice but again, without some improvements, it’s a lot of work.

AND MORE Unified Search, bulk actions, 40+ Shortcuts with Siri, home and lock screen widgets, and Apple Intelligence for natural language Smart Lists. ============================ Version 5.0.4 ============================ NEW - "Catch Up to Here" (renamed from "Mark All Up to Here") now has an option to complete each episode using its own air date, so older watches sort into the weeks they actually aired. - Mark episodes watched without a date — they count toward progress but stay off your Logbook and time-based stats. - Skip episodes and seasons. Skipped items don't count toward progress, Up Next, Stats, or completion math, and won't block Finish Show. FIXES - Crash when opening certain lists with custom cover images. - Crash when adding a custom image URL to a list item. - Crash when reordering Ingredients. - Share Extension crash when selecting a category for a shared item. - Some image URLs were rejected when using "Add from URL" for cover images. - Local search now finds titles when apostrophes are omitted (e.g., "youve" matches "You've Got Mail"). - Signing in on a new device could create duplicate starter lists alongside synced iCloud lists. - "Watch Again" no longer duplicates ratings, tags, and custom properties onto the new copy, which was piling up duplicates in favorites and smart lists. Runtime, genre, and other intrinsic info still carries over. - New manual items created in a Smart List now default to The Pile. - "Where to Watch" no longer shows duplicate entries. Providers with multiple options now appear as one row — e.g., Apple TV as "Stream · Rent · Buy." - Event AI summaries no longer produce mangled characters in unsupported languages; Sofa falls back to the static summary. - Episode count on the show detail page updates immediately when skipping episodes. - Season cover image now displays when choosing a date for a season. - Episode Completion Status filter now correctly narrows results to shows containing the selected statuses. - Setting a reminder on a TV show episode appeared to do nothing. - "Show Completed" toggle incorrectly appeared checked when completed items were visible. - "Find Logbook Item" Shortcut inconsistently returned TV episodes when filtering by Date Added. - Logbook Item Shortcut variables now include Show Title, Episode Label (e.g., S1E5), Season Number, and Episode Number for TV episodes. - Watched TV episodes sometimes missing from the Logbook Item picker, text search, and saved shortcut variables on re-run. - Ingredient pills lagging when switching to a longer value. - A "Custom Property" entry could remain in a Data Card's Displayed Properties after the Ingredient was deleted. - "Edit List Details" from long-pressing a list on iPhone showed a shortened Group By menu and "None" when grouped by a system property or Ingredient. - Data Card "Displayed Properties" picker on Smart Lists was missing System Properties and Services sections. - Smart Lists set to Collection List now correctly keep completed items visible. ============================ As always, don't hesitate to reach out with feedback, issues, and suggestions. Hey gang, I've got some goodies and tons of bug fixes in this release. Enjoy! ============================ IMPORT FROM OTHER SERVICES ============================ Sofa can now import from the services you've been using for years. Pull in your books, movies, shows, and games from Goodreads, Letterboxd, Trakt, Apple Reminders, and more. ============================ EXPORT YOUR SOFA LIBRARY ============================ The old Plain Text and Spreadsheet exports have been replaced by a single Export All Data option. You get one zip file containing: - A spreadsheet of everything in your library with your lists, notes, and custom Ingredients all in their own columns - Separate sheets for the planner, travel, expenses, and more - Folders with all your attachments and cover images ============================ CHANGES & IMPROVEMENTS ============================ - You can now tap any episode's checkbox in a TV show's episode list to mark it watched, including episodes that haven't aired yet. - Board Games is once again a category you can turn on in Settings. Add games manually from the Add Custom Item flow, give them properties and notes, and they'll show up in search, smart lists, Logbook, and the rest of Sofa just like any other category. (There's no online board-game lookup yet — items are added by hand for now.) - Started and Finished dates for tracked TV shows now reflect when you actually watched, not when you tapped Finish. - Catch Up to Here and Skip Up to Here now respect Hide Specials — Season 0 episodes are no longer touched when you have specials hidden. - The completion celebration screen now shows your actual Finished date and formats long durations with thousand separators (e.g. 7,712 days to complete). — "Complete & Log" is now available for items set to Track Only, so you can quick-log a game (or book, or anything) without cluttering the Logbook and still log the finished item when you're done. - Reduced memory use during podcast playback, especially for episodes with chapter artwork. - Switching from Simple Counter to Check Things Off now defaults the checkpoint type to the natural unit for the media (e.g. Chapters for books) instead of carrying over the previous unit. - Grid layouts now better scale items to the platform. ============================ BUG FIXES ============================ - Movie release dates showing the premiere date (or other early event) instead of the theatrical release. - Edge case where release dates could display one day off depending on your time zone. - TV episode titles now correct themselves automatically when TMDB updates them after release. - Podcast smart lists now correctly apply episode-level filters to the displayed episodes. - Fixed start and end times shifting unexpectedly when changing an event activity's location. - Fixed the end date jumping forward a day when adjusting the start time near midnight. - Multi-day activities now keep their duration when you move the start. - Fixed the end time snapping to one minute past start after picking a location in a new timezone. - Tapping empty space in the Date & Time section no longer clears the - Turning All Day off now restores your original times instead of replacing them with a generic default. - Multi-day all-day events keep their full span when you turn All Day off. - Data Card settings now appear when editing The Pile and a Data Card layout is selected. - Service names on Data Cards no longer duplicate and now appear in a consistent alphabetical order across every item in the list. - Marking unaired episodes as watched now fully updates progress everywhere. - Crash that could close the share sheet immediately when picking a category. - Crash after typing a query and clearing the search field with the X. And many more fixes... ============================ As always, don't hesitate to reach out with feedback, issues, and suggestions. I'm always happy to hear from you: [email protected] – Shawn

  • 5.2.1

Hey gang, 5.2 is a big one...a much improved podcast player, a new Enjoying tab, and a ton of improvements throughout. IMPROVEMENTS FOR 5.2.1 ============================ - Importing your history no longer floods Enjoying with shows you finished years ago — only recently watched shows are tracked automatically, and the rest import ready to track whenever you want. - Sofa is now much faster for large libraries — quicker Enjoying refreshes, smoother Logbook view switches, and less background work during iCloud sync. - Fixed a crash on Mac when resizing the window or transitioning the sidebar. - CSV imports misreading Excel-formatted dates (like "9-Feb-14") as ancient years — they now import as the correct date. WHAT'S NEW ============================ PODCAST PLAYER - Listen as a Series — follow any podcast like a TV show, in order from the beginning. Progress ring, dedicated series view (Up Next / Played / Skipped), and a new CarPlay Series tab. - The player is now fully free — chapters, per-show settings, and Voice Boost unlocked for everyone. - New per-podcast settings: playback speed, voice boost, seek intervals, Skip Intro, and Skip Outro. - Chapters now include artwork, scrubber markers (iOS 26+), and auto-parsing from show notes. - New Up Next controls: choose whether new episodes land at the top or bottom, globally or per podcast. • 5.2.2 · 30 Jul 2026

Hey gang, I've got a ton of improvements and fixes in this release. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! IMPORTING IMPROVEMENTS ============================ - Sofa now remembers your last 10 imports in Settings → Data Management — undo any of them individually, with a heads-up if a newer import touched the same items. - Trakt imports now respect dropped shows (→ Did Not Finish) and mark fully-caught-up shows as Watched instead of flooding Enjoying. New episodes that aired after you finished show up as new content. - If an import matched the wrong movie, show, book, or game, tap it to search and pick the right one. CHANGES & IMPROVEMENTS ============================ - Improvements to checking and updating tracked TV shows. - Finishing a show you've bailed on (or the new "Stop Showing" option) now keeps it out of Enjoying, Returns Soon, and the Planner. Reversible anytime via Resume Watching. - Custom items can now be added directly to your Logbook, with a date and time of your choosing. - Event countdowns now show the true number of days for far-future events. - Podcast chapters are now generated from more show-notes formats. - Timestamps in podcast show notes are now tappable — tap one to jump the player to that spot. SHORTCUTS ============================ - Start Tracking now takes a Total, a starting Current Value, and a Checkpoint Type. - Update Counter has a new Set Total mode, so you can fix or change the goal on something you're already tracking and change the unit at the same time ("set total of Dune to 48 chapters"). BUG FIXES ============================ - Podcast playback position getting lost or rewound when syncing between devices. - Manually sorted list items could jump to different positions. - Completed show could show up in Enjoying if its episode data couldn't be fetched during import. - Shows not reappearing in Enjoying when new episodes air. - Finished shows no longer get stuck as "Caught Up" when a series ends after you added it — they now complete and land in your Logbook automatically, including when you mark the last episode via widgets, Shortcuts, or the Logbook. - Tapping Sticky Note on an item you'd logged before could open and edit an older copy's note instead of creating one for the current item. - Adding a podcast to the Logbook a second time moved the existing entry's date instead of adding a new one. - A podcast followed and logged on the same day could be misread as "not new" and pull a full batch of episodes on its first refresh instead of one. - Video game search returning odd results when the query had a trailing space. - A bug that kept the Save button grayed out when adding a plan to an event, even after filling in the details. - A mystery item could appear in the Pinned Items widget even though it was nowhere to be found in the app. The widget and the app now always agree on what's pinned. - Issues where Planner items weren't properly being added to the Logbook. - Podcasts followed by RSS link (like Patreon feeds) could disappear from Up Next when any show was set to Listen as a Series. - Episode thumbnails briefly showing the wrong episode's artwork while scrolling quickly on slow networks. - Grouping a list by an ingredient now reliably places tagged items in the right group. - Shared links now save even when the page preview can't be loaded, instead of showing an error. - Issue where the widget could get stuck showing sample content instead of your queue until you reconfigured it. - The single-item Enjoying widget now updates as you track progress, instead of only refreshing after restarting your phone. - Events could stop appearing in the widget entirely (while releases and episodes still showed). - Background image for the Event countdown widget is now sharp instead of blurry when set to "Next Event." As always, don't hesitate to reach out with feedback, issues, and suggestions. I'm always happy to hear from you: [email protected] – Shawn
