   I used to dread renting a car. I went to book one with another company and it was such an awful online experience that I was ready to give up until I remembered my cousin used Sixt all the time and loved. I reluctantly went online once again, and it was so easy. But the actual proof came when I went to pick up that first car. They could not have been nicer! The service was phenomenal and the car was terrific. I got the app and used it for my second booking. I was terrified that it was going to be problematic. Wrong again! It was so easy! I even got an upgraded car, a BMW. My son was in 7th Heaven in that car. I, as a mom, couldn’t believe how much the lil’ gamer felt like a rockstar. He had never really expressed interest in cars until that moment. I realized Sixt had unknowingly given him a confidence booster in that non-mom car. 😂 Just booked another car with Sixt. Not expecting the dream car. Just happy knowing that I didn’t have a stressful booking experience. I booked it in about 2 minutes. Thanks Sixt!

2. 1/5Think before renting from here

   A truck for the last couple months from this company and at first, they were fantastic, but over the past couple weeks due to being stuck in the hospital and also having medical emergencies with my family not only have they refused to reach out to me and not only have I caught up on any late payments that I have had due to set medical emergencies. They have also went out of their way to threaten me with embezzlement some people who work at the smaller branches are amazing. The corporation themselves is not. They have also refused to give me back over $400 worth of security deposits. It has been two months and I have not received them back yet so before renting from this company, just understand they’ve had a class action lawsuit against them not just from all the hidden fees that they like to tack on without telling you sing one or two days, they will threaten to report you to the police for embezzlement and keep your money from you note only a couple days late and I was threatened to be reported to the police. This was before them not even returning my security deposits to me after I returned the last cars couple cars in perfect condition how they were given to me, but now it is a fight just to get the money that they owe me. They say it takes 3 to 14 days while it’s been over 60 and I have still not seen it yet.

   Sixt has an array of vehicles that no other company, in my experience, has. I came across Sixt several ago & I have become a faithful client. They do not require a flight to rent from them, nor do they have any weird charges or holds for just needing the car(Alamo is good too but they don’t have the same caliber of vehicles). I have had the before mentioned problems with reservations from dollar & asis. There was another place whose name escapes me that was terrible. I went to pick up a van for the family & they wanted an additional $200 dollar just bc. Most people would just swipe their card to not have to deal with the headache of going elsewhere (I’ve done it more than once)That’s not the case at sixt. I rent quite frequently from them. I typically rent a GMC that has seating for 7. I have three young boys and when we travel the added comfort is nice & the tv’s & head sets; my kids were happy & so were we. We no longer take any chances going anywhere else if we can help it.

4. 1/5Deception at car pickup locations

   During my trip across Europe, I made the mistake of using Sixt. On the surface—the app, the offices—everything looks great. But what lies beneath? At every office, they try to scam you and squeeze out extra money. My first experience was in France, where I rented a new Mercedes GLC. The employee claimed there were no cars available and insisted I pay extra for an upgrade if I wanted a vehicle. In reality, after paying for the upgrade, they simply gave me a car in the same category I had originally booked—in my case, a BMW X3. The car was new and clean on the outside, and acceptable on the inside, though I wouldn't say it had been thoroughly detailed or cleaned. My second experience was in Italy; I had booked a car and completed all the document verification steps, but they refused to release the vehicle. They claimed that because my assistant had made the reservation, his name was supposedly listed on it—even though I had uploaded my own documents and the company had already verified and confirmed everything. I suggested making a new reservation in my own name right then and there, but the attendant caused a scene. She insisted that wasn't allowed, claiming approval would take 24 hours and that only *she* could make the reservation—at double the price listed on the website, mind you. When I declined her offer and booked it myself online at the standard rate—showing the company confirmation and all the documents required by the app—she still refused to hand over the car. I want to share this to warn anyone traveling in Europe so you can avoid losing days, money, and time. Consider other services; don't waste your time. All that glitters is not gold.

   I’ve used Sixt for years, never had a problem other than long wait lines occasionally at pick up (it happens sometimes). The last time I went to pick up a car, I was told my account had been blocked and that the agents at the location would not be able to help me. Ok, they immediately have me call customer services from my phone at the desk (which if you’ve ever had to call, you know you’ll be on hold for at least 30-45 mins). Once again, ok. After getting through to a customer service agent (was transferred several times) I was told I need to email them to get the situation sorted. After explaining that my wife and I are literally on our way to a wedding, I was hung up on by customer service. At this point, it’s too much I have to leave so I asked for a refund (for this reservation and future reservations that I had prepaid for). They can’t even figure out how to give me a refund and recommend I contact AMEX to just dispute the charges. This is the craziest experience I’ve ever had renting a car and am super disappointed in Sixt for letting me down without ANY answers. So as the title implies, beware! Do not count on getting a car you have reserved and prepaid for. Have a backup plan if you’re using Sixt.
