  1. 5/5A Mainstay in my Workflow

Last year I spent a while searching for an email platform that utilized AI, but was also efficient and intuitive. I’m someone who receives a high volume of emails each day, and I needed away to triage it all to prevent overwhelm. I demoed quite a few different softwares before finding Shortwave. The very first thing that drew me in was the “Shortwave Method,” or Shortwave’s proprietary method of managing emails. I realized then that I wasn’t just looking for a software, but an entirely different mentality when thinking about email management. Shortwave doesn’t just provide a technical system, they provide a belief system. Their belief is that a 0-email inbox can be achieved regularly, and that communication should be easy and fun. This app makes me check my inbox like it’s social media; I find myself wanting to be in it because I’m so comfortable with the product as a whole. I’ve subscribed and unsubscribed to a lot of things, but so far I’ve never questioned a Shortwave expense. There’s water, electricity, and Shortwave 🫡 I will happily continue paying for it as long as long as they stick to/expand on their vision.

  2. 5/5Best email app I’ve ever used, and evolving

Like many people searching for a better email solution—something that doesn't lack essential features or lethargically sit on long-standing issues—I’ve tried numerous mail apps over the years. Email is a challenging problem due to its outdated protocol, which imposes strict limitations. Shortwave seems to have figured it out, at least better than most others that I’ve seen. Instead of adding pointless features that bloat the app, it focuses on incremental improvements, where each change makes sense individually and is not just random idea from the last bored developer while he was taking a dump. Since I started using Shortwave, managing my email has been much less painful. It has a clean, responsive interface, and efficiently offloads tasks to Gmail in the background, maintaining a clear separation of responsibilities for a seamless integration. When I've encountered bugs and contacted support, they've responded immediately and resolved the issues promptly. What else could you want from an email app?

  3. 5/5A great email app with a good business model

I’ve been a fan of innovate email apps going back to mailbox and inbox. This team comes from inbox and does much of the same thing absolutely right. Bundles are just a superior way to reduce email clutter. The threading keeps conversations organized even when there’s forwards and splits of the chain. It’s super easy to switch between my work and personal mail. And it’s cross platform with a web version. I use the free version and while there are limitations, I hardly run into them. And I frankly like that they have subscription plans and have monetized so I can be optimistic that the app won’t go away (and hopefully not ruined by an acquisition either). The AI feature I have tried the most is creating drafts and I think that’s useful in some cases. I’m glad they’re charging for it. Again - highly recommend the free version. Even that is superior to gmail or the base Apple mail app.

  4. 5/5Excellent email app

Overall, the Shortwave Email app is an excellent tool for managing emails. The clean and intuitive interface makes it easy to compose, send, and receive messages. One of the app's standout features is its ability to handle attachments seamlessly. The app also provides reliable delivery confirmations, giving users peace of mind that their messages have been successfully transmitted. The current search functionality allows users to browse through their inbox and sent items, which is helpful for finding past conversations. However, a minor enhancement that could further improve the app would be the addition of a search feature specifically for emails from a selected contact. This would enable users to quickly locate all correspondence with a specific person, which can be especially useful when trying to reference a previous discussion or find an important piece of information. Implementing this search-by-contact capability would further streamline the user experience and make the Shortwave Email app an even more powerful tool. Overall, the Shortwave Email app is a reliable and user-friendly solution for emails. Its robust feature set and consistent performance make it a highly recommended choice for anyone in need of a versatile and efficient shortwave email solution.

  5. 3/5Almost Perfect…

I think Shortwave is a great email client. It has a ton of great features that I’m looking for that help me keep my email organized like split inboxes, automatic email grouping, and a great AI search that helps me find old emails quickly. I’ve mainly been using Superhuman for the last year, and I love it because it’s super clean and intuitive, but I’ve also been looking for an alternative because it’s so expensive. I’ve almost switched over to Shortwave, but a few few things have held me back: • The UI is cluttered and less intuitive. For example, to switch between email accounts, I have to reach all the way over to the left-hand side of my screen and swipe. This and the fact that the profile icon is so small, just make it feel cluttered compared to Superhuman. • I’m unable to print directly from the mobile app unless it’s a PDF file. For everything else, like if I want to print off correspondence in an email, or a receipt that’s not in a PDF format, I have to go to advance to settings, and I’m redirected to a webpage. This makes it incredibly more complicated when I quickly need to print something off for work. • And speaking of being redirected to a webpage, the same thing happens when I want to create another split inbox on my mobile app. There have been a few other bugs here and there, but other than these three main issues that I have, I think it’s overall one of the best email clients out there. If these three issues were fixed, I would switch over to Shortwave in a heartbeat.
