What’s New in Version 3.1 Severe Weather Guardian 3.1 introduces major improvements to Live Radar, severe weather alerts, accessibility, and location coverage handling. Live Radar now includes an enhanced multi-scan severe weather analysis engine designed to provide clearer insight into storm motion, hail potential, rotation indicators, and possible tornado debris signatures. Storm cells now include improved visual motion indicators, making it easier to understand where storms are headed and which areas may be affected next. This release also delivers significant Live Radar improvements for VoiceOver users. Radar summaries are clearer, Touch Explorer support has been improved, and spoken details for hail and tornado-related indicators are more complete. Hail and tornado information now includes plain-language details such as estimated hail size, trend, confidence, storm movement, tornado potential, and whether debris evidence is possible or likely. Radar-only indicators continue to be presented accurately and are not treated as official confirmation. Alert reliability has been improved throughout the app. Saved alert locations are now handled more robustly, active alerts should be detected more consistently, and Apple Critical Alert handling has been updated to better align with Wireless Emergency Alert-level hazards, including Extreme Wind Warnings. Severe Weather Guardian now displays a warning when a user searches for a location outside the coverage area of the National Weather Service, which includes the United States and its territories. This update also includes important bug fixes and performance improvements. Live Radar accessibility issues affecting VoiceOver navigation and spoken radar context have been fixed. An issue that could cause the keyboard to disappear while typing in search or location fields has been resolved. An issue that could cause storms to appear as though they were moving in the opposite direction of their actual travel has also been fixed. Radar performance has been improved, partial radar-data errors during deeper severe-weather analysis have been reduced, and fallback behavior is more reliable when weather data sources are slow or temporarily unavailable.

Severe Weather Guardian 3.3 adds customizable Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, giving you quick access to current conditions, active hazards, expected hazards, and forecast details for your current location or saved alert locations. Live Radar also gets a major severe-storm visibility update. Storm tracks now stand out more clearly, severe storm clues are easier to identify, and tornadic indicators use clearer visual markers while preserving full VoiceOver support. This version introduces more concise wording and accurate descriptions to the live radar tab in both normal and advanced modes. Wording has been clarified to more accurately indicate what part of a storm track dataset is generated based on radar estimations and what part has been officially issued by the National Weather Service. Additionally, the live radar system can now estimate whether a storm will impact the location you have set and give spoken guidance via VoiceOver as to the timing of the potential impact. The alert details screen has been redesigned from an expandable model to a full-screen user interface, and the summarization of alerts has been improved with significantly more accurate wording.

Fixes an issue where VoiceOver read forecast metadata, before the main forecast, causing the forecast to sound as though it were being repeated.

Version 3.4 introduces a larger map surface for touch explorer. When touch explorer is enabled, the direct touch map takes up the entire screen so you can more easily explore a large geographic area to see where the storms are located. This update also includes the following enhancements and bug fixes: Adds a dialogue box that explains new touch explorer behavior. Adds an "About Live Radar Descriptions" button which provides details on how radar descriptions are generated. Adds a spoken prompt: "Calculating radar point." so users are aware when radar data are being retrieved while using touch explorer. Adds three-finger swipe up, down, left, and right while touch explorer is enabled so VoiceOver users can scroll through the map. Fixes an issue where a set user location could display incorrect results.

Weather Guardian 3.5 Release Notes Live Radar is easier to understand and control in this update. - Added a nearby radar station switcher so you can choose from the closest radar sites for your selected location. - Added storm-cell association badges to help clarify when radar clues, like hook echoes or rotation signatures, are tied to a specific storm cell. - Improved radar layer wording for hook echo, mesocyclone, tornadic vortex signature, and tornado debris signature details. - Current Conditions now shows richer wind and pressure details, including gusts and whether pressure is rising, falling, or steady. - Moved coordinate details out of the way so conditions and place names are easier to read first. - Fixed duplicate text after the Fetch Hazards button. - Includes stability, accessibility, and compatibility improvements for Live Radar.

Version 4.0 of Severe WeatherGuardian introduces a dedicated screen for tropical storm tracking in the Home tab. Fully designed with VoiceOver accessibility in mind and accuracy, this screen is designed to keep you up to date with the latest tropical hazards for your selected location. Additionally, this update brings live weather radio audio streaming to the app. Simply tap the Weather Radio tab, pick a state, pick the name of the station you want to listen to, and voila! You're done! This update also includes bug fixes and performance enhancements.

Version 4.1 adds lightning detection on the live radar screen, which can be used as both a radar layer or in the touch explorer mode. Additionally, lightning alerts can be enabled for your saved alert locations, plus membership required. The app will alert you if cloud-to-ground lightning is detected within 10 miles of a saved location. Version 4.1 also enables you to save favorite locations for the home screen, live radar, and weather radio tabs. The home screen and live radar favorites allow you to quickly switch between locations in real time without having to search for the same location multiple times. The weather radio favorites button allows you to quickly add a station to a list so that you can efficiently retrieve and listen to your favorite weather radio stations without having to scroll through the list of states multiple times.

Version 4.3 of Severe WeatherGuardian introduces an updated tropical tracker, designed to closely resemble the Live Radar tab. Track tropical storms, get estimated impacts for your specific location, and more! This update also enhances the Storm Features section of the Live Radar tab by moving associated storm features such as rotation clues into a collapsable storm-specific interface. Simply find the storm you're interested in, double tap it, and flick right to hear the associated features. This Update also addresses an issue that could cause the Tropical Tracker to give a loading error.
