5/5Absolutely essential to my life - unparalleled in quality.
I don’t believe I’ve ever written a review on an app. I’m taking the time to write this because this app is THAT outstanding. It’s become essential to my daily life. I regularly need to scan documents in and then access them via my computer. I considered buying a more expensive scanner, but with this app, there is simply no need. If I hold my camera at the wrong angle, Genius Scan fixes it for me. It compensates for angles and bumps and misalignments and churns out an absolutely professional looking scan in seconds. It’s so accurate, it genuinely looks like it was a saved document, never having been printed and scanned. If, for some reason, my document is wonky and scans a weird edge, Genius scan lets me fix it. Over and above its perfect scans, it allows me to export…down to the very subfolder… of my Google Drive, my Microsoft OneDrive and even my Apple Files. I can email it to myself or someone else. It’s just seamless. I’m continually more and more impressed with this app and it’s saved me so much time and money, I cannot be more thankful for this app. Well done, devs, well done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

5/5EXCELLENT!
I have used a lot of different scanner apps. Most of them work but that’s about as much if you can say for them. They are not excellent, and in most cases are not even great. They are just simply functional. I went to the office of a notary to have a paper notarized and I just made an offhand comment that I was headed for a copy shop to have the documents scanned and turned into a PDF file. He answered back that he was able to do that for me. I was shocked to see him whip out his phone and snap a picture of it. I expect the results to be as bad as all of the other ones that I have used in the past and I couldn’t believe my eyes. It corrects for Keystone distortion, and it removes trace background edges around the page. Actually work better when placed on a darker background so there’s more distinction between the edge of the page and the background itself. I would like to extend a high-five to the developer of this app. You have really done and astonishingly good job. Congratulations.

5/5The Online Student’s Savior
i’ve been in online school since the beginning of the pandemic, and this app is a lifesaver. it doesn’t limit how many documents you scan like other apps, and its automatic scanning trick is pretty okay. just don’t but the paper on a light colored surface, or have too many other objects in the frame. my favorite part is the ability to directly upload from my phone to the desktop of my computer (since they’re linked by icloud). if that’s not your speed, you can airdrop it to your downloads folder. the back and white filter is just as good as a printer scan, and there’s an option to edit the document after you take the photo. I never needed any other part of the app, so i didn’t need premium, which is amazing. it also uploads as a pdf, which saves me all the trouble of converting it myself. compared to other scan apps, i found this one to be the most efficient, since it works well and doesn’t have any frustrating limits for free users.

4/5Works great!…most of the time.
I use this app to scan documents for my university classes. Once scanned, the features within the app provide augmentations, such as leaving natural light or white light (i.e, displaying the visual differences between a photo or a “scan” of the document). I also love that if I’m scanning dozens of pages all at once, if I make a mistake on one scan, I have the option to re-do that scan rather than starting over just to ensure the documents are in order. Once satisfied, I can email the document (however large or small) and it will appear instantly in my inbox. The one issue I’ve found, is that sometimes it does not appear in my inbox until hours or even a day after I scanned my work. This can be EXTREMELY frustrating when my deadline is that evening. There’s no way to assess when these hiccups occur, since it appears to have no correlation to document size or scanning frequency. Overall, I’m thankful to have this app. It’s so much faster to use than my physical printer/scanner.

5/5Mixed feelings
Update: After the developers responded, I took a closer look at the user manual and tried it again. The hotspot is no longer a problem (that one is a puzzle, since I didn’t do anything), file naming help was there after all, and works VERY well (using a field to insert part of the name each time). And I got authorized to give Google permissions to view and download all my files, which makes me very uncomfortable, but it makes this project work like a dream. I was thrilled with how well Genius Scan autocrops documents—would save me a lot of time! However, subscribing was a big disappointment. I expected file naming help, and got none, am finding hot spots (lighter scan) on documents no matter how I arrange lighting, and worst of all, exporting to Google Drive (which I REALLY wanted) is impossible because I refuse to give Genius Scan access and permission to download all of my files. So all in all, guess I’ll be going back to Google Scan.
