Route 08: Travel & Match

Stability and speed. We fixed a freeze that could happen on first launch with a new account and smoothed out several spots that could briefly hang while browsing and searching. Faster, snappier, fewer pauses.

Friends are friends. If you're already friends with someone, you now see each other's full Passport and tips automatically. No wave needed. Add a place, finish it in the moment. Jot down when you were there and leave a rec right when you add a spot, instead of going back later. See what your friends recommend. Read a friend's recs from their profile, or tap any spot on their map to see it. Honest rare counts. "X people have been here" now treats the same place as one place, so the numbers actually mean something. Plus fixes: editing a rec, unfavoriting a place, and tapping a continent to jump to its cities.

More new stuff! A new home screen. Opening Route 08 now greets you with a live departures-board ticker of what travelers are up to, plus quick shortcuts: log a place, read your Daily 8, check your map, see the rankings, invite a friend, and more. Appears once a day and after a hard restart. The UNESCO World Heritage collection grew from 154 to 677 sites. Go see how many you've already been to. Dozens of new facts in the Daily 8 pool, so your daily eight stays fresher longer. Friends no longer appear in your Matches feed. You already found each other. Bug fixes, including accepting a friend request from a match and general stability improvements.

The Latest • Tap the Route 08 logo at the top of your Passport to jump back to the home screen anytime. • National parks and UNESCO counts on the leaderboard now match the totals shown on your profile. • Pull down to refresh the leaderboard. • Fixed an issue where the keyboard could cover the recommendation field when adding a place, so you can always type your rec and save it.

New Features and Fixes! Your Standing A new rankings summary shows how you stack up against the whole community: where you land on countries, places, continents, airlines, and airports, the percentile you're in, and your rarest places. Open it from the trophy on your Passport, then the chart icon. Rankings with friends Flip any leaderboard between Everyone and Friends to see how you compare with the people you actually travel with. A Better Passport Your Passport is for the cities and neighborhoods you've been to. Beaches, museums, straits, and the like are no longer logged as places. Save them as a rec instead. Cleaner Search Tap + to add a place, tap the (new) suitcase to save somewhere you want to go, every result shows its flag, and duplicate cities and whole countries are gone. People "Family" is now "People" when you tag why you went somewhere. Waves that land When a wave becomes mutual you will know right away, and you can jump straight to Connections to see it. Faster and steadier Fixed a fairly common freeze when opening the app, fixed a crash, sped up the rankings, and made sure pull to refresh never clears your lists as well as other additional fixes and speed upgrades.

This one is all about better speed and stability. We fixed a rare freeze that could lock up or close the app a few seconds after opening, and made launching and switching tabs noticeably faster. Thanks for traveling with Route 08.
