2/5Could be great. In the end, it's wretched (for Portuguese)
I have to change my previous review. This app has so much potential but they ruin it in so many ways. First, relying almost exclusively on Paulo, the man with a distinct Rio accent, to teach pronunciation is ludicrous. They have a special section devoted to the Rio accent, that should be enough. Let the main lessons be taught by someone who speaks with a more standard Brazilian accent, not one unique to one specific city. So stupid. Second, half the time they teach you how to pronounce words, they don't even pronounce them in a Portuguese way at all. For instance, if they are teaching a phrase with the word "de" in it, the first several times, if not more than that, they pronounce it the Spanish with, with the hard "d", rather than the distinct Portuguese way with that kind of English j sound to it. That's just one of many, many examples like this. And finally, their voice recognition software is absolutely abysmal. I can pronounce a word correctly and it says I say something completely different. Then I can say something absolutely incorrectly, and I know it, and it tells me I'm right. Great concept, this app, but terrible execution.

5/5Great resource!!
Hello, I’ve been using this app for about a week now and thought I’d give a review. So far this app is very conversationally engaging . It has you using listening and speaking in full sentences and phrases right away. I have also used Duo lingo prior to using this, which I highly encourage because Duo lingo will get you the very basic knowledge where Rocket language doesn’t necessarily begin with the basic level knowledge. Rocket language just kind of starts you out speaking Spanish, which is needed, but for someone like myself having the general basic knowledge down prior to using it will really help me. If i didnt, I admit i would have been a little overwhelmed. But overall rocker language has been amazing for my first week. The modules I did cover I am confidently able to understand the conversation and verbalize it. Having the ability to constantly re-listen to it and then also the ability to read along as they are explaining it is amazing. Also random fact, put your phone in Spanish!! that helps tremendously too ¡Ha sido un gusto! ¡hasta la próxima!

5/5A Great way to learn!
I love the app, it’s practical and better than other language learning apps that I have used. Best of all, the Audio is real people’s voices, not AI generation. (Makes listening and talking far better than say Duolingo). It’s interactive, takes the time to make sure you understand what you’ve learned, then tests you on it. It covers all the bases and then some. My ONLY complaint so far is the voice software. It could very well be a personal problem, but I don’t think it does the best job at times of listening to me. Rocket will write what it hears you say, when you do good, the pieces of the text will turn green. should you fail, the pieces of text will turn red. So it will hear me pronounce stuff that I never said and show it back to me. Sometimes this is an egregious and frustrating flaw. Fortunately, it seems to be uncommon or rare. Rocket is a bit temperamental when it comes to the speech, but at the end of the day it’s a minor flaw on a long list of positives.

3/5Disappointed
The first week or so, everything worked amazingly. Things drastically went down hill from there. The audio does not work at all. I reached out to customer service and they told me to reinstall the app but they were pretty dismissive with my issues. I reinstalled the app and there is still no audio. How are you supposed to learn when you can’t hear how a word is pronounced? The next thing is the audio recognition. Again, first week it went great. After that, I can no longer use this feature. This was another issue I brought to their attention and they told me that feature is not compatible. It worked fine when I first got it. Even on their website, the audio and the microphone do not work. This has been a huge waste of money. The bugs completely make the program useless and the customer service is severely lacking. If they ever get these issues fix, it would be fantastic. I was learning Japanese very quickly with this for that first week but it has now been 5 months since I’ve been able to use it. I keep checking regularly to see if they’ve fixed the issues, because like I said, this would be a fantastic program.

5/5The best for learning German
I have tried the paid versions of almost all of the popular apps out there for learning German and I can say that this one is the best. It is very systematic, comprehensive, free of errors, addresses the idiosyncrasies of the German language and most importantly, forces you to speak. I wish I had found it earlier and didn’t waste my time and money with the other apps. The only feature that I wish Rocket Languages had is some sort of a spaced repetition tool that reminds you to repeat words and phrases that you find difficult. Other than this, the app, the method for teaching German and the quality of the content are just perfect. I am using the app both on my phone while driving (to listen to the lessons) and on my iPad to do the exercises. Transition from one device to another is seamless. I have not tried the desktop version. I live in Germany and this app has already helped me tremendously to speak with a lot more confidence than before. Thank you and keep up the good work!
